A. Once Saved, Always Saved? Can We Lose Our Salvation? Can We Be Saved Without Good Works?[/h]Most Christians believe we are justified and saved by faith alone, but good works are the necessary result and evidence of that salvation. In contrast, there is a modern doctrine, popularized by some evangelists and organizations, that believing Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior is all that is required for salvation, and we can never lose that salvation. According to that doctrine, we are saved by belief in Christ alone; it is not necessary to repent, and good works do not necessarily result from being saved. Bible passages such as John 3:16 and John 10:27-29, as well as Paul's teachings in Romans 8:35-39 and 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 are cited in support. This doctrine has tremendous popular appeal because it teaches that we can be assured of our salvation without the obligation to change our sinful ways. In this view, God loves us and accepts us just as we are, and it is up to God to change us if He wants to. However, the overall weight of Biblical evidence points to the conclusion that a person who goes on willfully sinning has either intentionally abandoned his or her faith or never sincerely made a faith commitment in the first place. True faith involves a commitment to trust God and to do our best to live according to His commandments:
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (NIV, Hebrews 10:26-31)
Cling tightly to your faith in Christ, and always keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked. (NLT, 1 Timothy 1:19)
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. (NIV, Galatians 5:19-26)
Other relevant passages include Matthew 7:21-23, 10:22, 25:31-46, Luke 10:25-37, John 14:21-23, John 15:6, Romans 2:6-10, Galatians 6:8-9, Ephesians 5:5-6, 1 Timothy 1:18-20, 2 Timothy 2:12, Hebrews 6:4-6, James 2:14-24, and 2 Peter 2:20-21.

So your saying you have to "do something" to be a christian?

WILL DO SOMETHING, NOT HAVE TO DO SOMETHING, big difference.

You will open the door to your Heart and let JESUS in as your LORD,

Revelation 3:20 (NASB)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

You will let HIM rule and run your life willingly out Love for Him.

AND you cannot do even that except by the power of the Holy Spirit AFTER HE brings you once dead human spirit to ETERNAL LIFE. AND IT IS NOT ETERNAL IF YOU CAN LOSE IT:

1 John 5:11-13 (NIV)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
[SUP]12 [/SUP] He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
[SUP]13 [/SUP] I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Superficial? ? ? Not even CLOSE.

which is why beleivers are told to continue to love. If you love me, keep my commandments. Obviously, if one does not keep the commandments they are no longer believers. Scripture just abouds with refutation of your theology.

Correct, even being immersed, baptism does not save anyone, but one CANNOT be saved without it.

nice but man can quench the Spirit. Man can and scripture is full of examples of believers denying God by their actions.

but obviously man fall back into sin. They prefer the pleasures of this world more than Christ. An emotional conviction does not save a person either. This is the typical alter call, which can actually be done on the web in a few seconds. One can go from sinner to saint guaranteed in less than 5 minutes. Hardly Gospel teaching.

Many obey f or a long time, bear much fruit. But for whatever reason, they depart. They deny Christ. They no longer keep His commandments, therefore shows they do not love Him any longer. Which is why scripture exhorts all believers to remain faithful. Losing faith is losing the promise at the end.

That could very well be a reason many fall away. But the fact that before they fell, they were a bonefied believer, who was IN Christ.

The describe one is remained faithful. But they do not describe a believer by definition of scripture which is one who believes, repents, is baptised into Christ. That is the definition of a bonefied beleiver. What happens after that is up to each iindividual, they can remain, grow, mature, or they can fall away. Adam fell away, you are not immune to it either.

Those who fall away, never to return, prove they never knew HIM with that inner personal love relationship, whereby one willingly submits to HIM as MASTER (LORD). Nothing less is a real Christian.

So a man who spent his whole day walking in the Light, having fellowship with his Father and Brother and waited upon God before acting, letting his light so shine that people would come to him inquiring of that Spirit within, to one day to have that ripped completely out of him by an unthoughtful act, never was saved? Never knew Them?

I beg to differ, it can be lost. If you only knew such sorrow it inflicts upon a soul, how it grasps at anything to lessening the aching emptiness left behind, you would never say what you just said, but all the more, seek to keep others from knowing that knee buckling hurt of having lost that most precious gem.

Your statements and definitions just don't fly in scripture. They may make you feel comfortable but it is a man's easy believism, man's psychological panacea but it is not salvaton. It has been pointed out to you for 1500 posts, you have yet to produce the evidence of your view of instant permanent salvation upon one mental, even emotional, ascent to faith, or that one is saved by faith only.

Where is there even a hint that he stated he or anyone is without sin.
"However, the overall weight of Biblical evidence points to the conclusion that a person who goes on willfully sinning has either intentionally abandoned his or her faith or never sincerely made a faith commitment in the first place."

is sin willful? does it require an act of the will?
this is a commentary from Hebrews which is a total misunderstanding of the passage.
there is forgiveness for sin, and we need it daily.
anyone who claims they don't doesn't understand God's Holiness or anything about him or why Jesus the Son (perfect) had to die AND perform priestly duties.
at all.

no, we do not desire to continue in sin like we did before.
we can't. we hate it. and confess it.

anyone who doesn't confess it, thinks they don't have sin. simple.

I told you once before, I can support every one of my beliefs with Scripture. I also know you make up all kinds of excuses why it does not mean what it says, and I noticed that you use very little Scripture to support your beliefs.

John 1:12-13 (NASB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] But as many as received Him, (No more and No Less) to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
[SUP]13 [/SUP] who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (No more and No Less, ALL who were born again via the Holy Spirit.)

Received Him as what though?

Colossians 2:6 (NIV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him,

Romans 10:9 (NASB)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] that if you confess (NOT JUST PROFESS) with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

Deuteronomy 6:5 (ESV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Matthew 22:37-38 (HCSB)
[SUP]37 [/SUP] He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
[SUP]38 [/SUP] This is the greatest and most important command.

Philemon 1:4-5 (HCSB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] I always thank my God when I mention you in my prayers,
[SUP]5 [/SUP] because I hear of your love and faith toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints.

Hebrews 12:7-9 (NIV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?
[SUP]8 [/SUP] If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.
[SUP]9 [/SUP] Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live!

James 4:7 (KJV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Then argue with John, I will not because I believe every word that John wrote was inspired by GOD.

1 John 2:19 (NKJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

Now do you also want to argue with JESUS that HE PRAYED IN VAIN?

John 17:9-15 (ASV)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me; for they are thine:
[SUP]10 [/SUP] and all things that are mine are thine, and thine are mine: and I am glorified in them.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]
And I am no more in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one, even as we are.
[SUP]12 [/SUP] While I was with them, I kept them in thy name which thou hast given me: and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
[SUP]13 [/SUP] But now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] I have given them thy word; and the world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] I pray not that thou shouldest take them from the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil one.

John 17:20 (HCSB)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in Methrough their message.

John 10:28-30 (HCSB)
[SUP]28 [/SUP] I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand.
[SUP]29 [/SUP] My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
[SUP]30 [/SUP] The Father and I are one.”

In the Parable of the Gates, there are NO people that parable that Are Not claiming to be a Christian. The MANY on the Broad Road to Destruction all think they are Christians, while NOT one of them really are. ONLY those who come through the Narrow Gate are genuine Christians.

I means you are clueless as to what it means to believe on him...

One side of your mouth says Jesus did it all, men don't have to do a thing making every man ever saved or it is his fault, then you say man must receive the gift, which is it?
no it means you are.

Faith is only your work if you DO SOMETHING, SInce God did ALL the work. And the promise he is offering is based on HIS CHARACTER. it is a work of God. that we trust him.

To "sin willfully" in the Greek carries the idea of deliberate intention that is habitual, which stems from rejecting Christ deliberately. This is CONTINUOUS ACTION - A MATTER OF PRACTICE. Now we don't walk along our daily life and accidently fall into a pit called sin. We exercise our will but, the use of the participle clearly shows a CONTINUOUS ACTION. The unrighteous practice sin - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21, not the righteous who are born of God - 1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 John 3:9.

If Christ had not come, you would not have a heaven or hell. Who would occupy it. Man and the world would simply be dissolving into dust. The condemnation was decay, corruption, death. Death was a permanent state, in other words you would not exist after death. That might be much perferably for those who reject Christ and are spiritually separated from them, but not from God's perspective. God will still give grace to those in hell, after all they are still creatures who need God to sustain life, God's love never faileth either, and will continue to be given to those in hell.

The perspective from God is that He is sovereign and satan is NOT the ruler over His creation and surely those He created in His Image, through the power of death.

You obviously do not understand either of these scriptural teachings.
the purpose of God creating man.
The fall of man,
The salvation of man from te fall.
And our personal salvation by becoming LIKE God, being transformed into HIS Likeness as it was the purpose from the beginning with Adam.

You have some kind of superficial concept of all of these points. None of them are scriptural as it was understood from the beginning. You hold many man made innovations imposed upon scripture.

it is obvious you are unlearned.

1. Hell was already going to be occupied before man was created
2. heaven was already occupied by 2/3 of the heavenly host.
3. man was created in a way God wanted to serve him.
4. God tested man, Do you trust me to supply all your needs, or will you trust self.
5. Man chose to trsut self, and in doing so died spiritually (spiritual separation)
6. God could have left it status quo, and just sent man to hell, but he loved his creation.
7. He showed how he was going to redeem mankind from the begining, The first death in history, to cover nakedness, the animal sacrifice (cain gave human good and it was rejected) the continual animal sacrifices, And even the sacrifices in the law. to prove man can not enter the presence of God unclean (of course ALL of these innocent deaths of clean animals represented Christ, who would cleanse us with his own blood)

the problem is, Very few want to have the faith of Abel, Way to many, like yourself, instead want to give human good sacrifices (your works) and think God will recieve it,

Well news flash, He will reject your human works just like he rejected cains, and as cain was cast out, so to will you and those like you if you do not repent, and just trust God as Abel did.

Oh boy, I just read the response, oh how they go from one level of evil false teaching, to next, and to the next, ever spiraling downwards. Read his opinion about Hitler being a believer, shocking isn't it. With such a shallow definition of the word believe, is it any wonder how so many get deceived. How many with that false belief go into a Baptistery a dry sinner, only to come out a wet sinner, and nothing more?
Amazing how severe the trust in self is. That anyone would believe such stuff.
