Lol! That's fair enough, I'm more a fan of Obi-Wan Kenobi anyways lol.

Jokes aside though lol, makes me think maybe the master bedroom be a logical room of the house where the couple should both have a say and be willing to compromise with eachother. Like obviously, a dude don't want to have the master bedroom be a Barbie wonderland and the girl don't want the master bedroom to be looking like the command center of the Death Star. I guess that be the room of the house to be a lil more neutral in decor.

I like open concept, wide spacious areas, romantic and elegant touch everywhere. I like to include nature somehow, so for example I prefer natural fireplace over the electric one. I like the smell of the wood being burnt and its sound when it's burning. So romantic too. :eek: I like modern style decor and furniture. But I'd really appreciate it when me and my husband both have our taste together. I like yellow indirect spot lights. Real plants not fake ones, even though I always forget to water my plants!!! :rolleyes:

Even though it's old school the man pays for the house, the woman decorates it. I'd still would love to have every corner in the house with my husband's and my taste. Both of us. It'll be more romantic that way. :eek: Unless there's really something that he doesn't like to give his opinion about it for whatever reason. Then at this point I don't mind to step in and he will be taking the risk of it that it "Might" be this pink Barbie house. And he'll have to live with it for the rest of our lives. :D

At least that's pretty much how it was with my parents' relationship. Dad just buy the stuff, mom decorates it how she sees fit. For me I'm not too concerned about living in Barbie's Dream House, I'd be content just to have Barbie lol.

Though I do have to say if Barbie forced me to live in an all pink house I'd do it, but I'm definantly gonna have to annex control over one room for purposes of having a Man Cave for refuge lol. Not that I have to have a Man Cave, but in an all pink fantasyland house, I think it be a necessary for sake of my sanity lol.

My place looks like the result of a menage-a-trois with Pottery Barn, Cost Plus, and IKEA...but I kind of like it.

Compromise. Let the bedroom decor be inspired by a cozy hobbit hole and the TV room be inspired by some Death star tech and view screens ( and holo projectors too).

Lol the Nerd Dream House! Though I was moreso thinking Bilbo's Kitchen and Pantries, TV room Death Star command center, maybe a courtyard like Rivendell and we'll make the kitchen look like the Tatooine Cantina and thus the perfect synergy of 20th Century Nerdom is finished (no Trekky stuff though! Jedi > Vulcans.)

Well, decorations are not my cup-of-tea. I don't like our house to look like the Hilton's lobby. I do enjoy Bible verses professionally framed and hung on certain walls, and I don't mind the bookcases.

I like a house to be lived in, yet clean. A clean house with less clutter is more valuable to me than to spend time dusting nick-nacks, couch pillows and bathroom towels that nobody uses... :rolleyes:

Another reality is that children are messy, and I have bunches of 'em. :D :D :D :D (There's a reason why children as called "kids"). The least stuff you have out, the less stuff will break. Children need their own play area, and a house doesn't need much decorating when there's toys, Legos, and My Little Pony years of playtime. :)

is it vacant? i heard barbie was back in the hospital for the eating disorder but i thought ken was still living there. did he move in with the gi joe he's been seeing at the health club? i've always had questions about him.

Alright, for some reason I really like this topic and maybe it is because I really like interior design lol.
I like cool colors, such as lilac, ,grey, light blue, brown or black.
Not much of a fan of reds, oranges or yellows lol.
But in all honesty, I see a future home as a mixture between rustic and contemporary, with a little splash of cool earthy tones, and pastels in there.

I used to have one of those as well! I got it as a souvenir when I went to Florida with my grandparents back in 2001. I also got a small alligator head and a sandstar.

Kind of a strange souvenir, when I think about it..."Let me bring all these dead animals home to show that I went to Florida."

I'm such a visual person, it hurts. Hahaha. I am big on aesthetics. I don't care much for fancy expensive things, but I like using the simple and making it something beautiful. My Kindergarten room is a fine example of my taste.

Instead of having intensely coloured number cards or number posters on my wall, I used coat hangers with cardboard numbers hung on them. Under the hanging number '1', I tied one origami crane underneath it, under the number '2', I tied two origami cranes underneath, so on and so forth. So I have number mobiles hung around the room. I folded newspaper into thin branches, stuck them to the wall and then added pastel paper leaves and made a wall mural out of it. I then attached photos of my children to the trees to represent a 'family' tree. I have a hanging branch chandelier thing in my kindergarten room. Its this leafless branch I painted silver and then hung bits of jewellery from it that I have broken over the years.

At my old place I used to rent, I saved all these glass jars for a month or so, cleaned them, lined them up along my window sill and filled them with candles. In my bedroom now, my feature wall is painted one third in dark grey, two thirds in light grey, and where the two shades meet, I painted a leafless tree silhouette. I was going to hang different kinds of keys from the tree, but never got around to doing that. Here are some images that catch my eye:

I think I could reside in Barbie's Townhouse, but I don't believe we could afford a full size version:)

In my opinion the aesthetichs in my family's home is my business.

Men seems to be afraid that somebody might believe they are girly if they dont decorate every single room in a man cave manner...and what you'll then get is a man cave - mansion version. And you don't get a man to admit he knows what colors match. I think men, given the chance, would decorate a home just fine, but due to their fear of what a long since bachelor friend might should say, the solution is Man Cave lol. Thats why I prefer to do the job myself.

I have been trying to include him, but he don't seem to care and that's fine with me:)

My aesthetic has largely been shaped by how much I DISLIKE the "decor" of my parents home. It's just a pain to me that I think I just want my future home to be the complete opposite, haha. Everything is mismatched, unorganized, cluttered, and has the most boring and unflattering colors. The only place I have free reign is my bedroom, where I specifically picked bedspreads and curtains that compliment my wood furniture, I have some simple wall art to brighten the space, and for the love of all that is good and holy, I have tried my hardest to keep clutter to the minimum. I'm pretty sure growing up in this house has scarred me for life about clutter. *rage*

....anywayyyy, I think I would compromise about almost anything, as long as we agreed to put reasonable effort toward keeping things tidy. I would much rather own fewer things and live in a clean and spacious home, than have tons of stuff but feel suffocated. My ideal home would be simple, uncluttered, and clean, but with just a few warm decorative touches to make it feel "homey".
