How did these men know these scientific facts when the whole world thought the world was flat for thousands of years later?

I guess my only honest answer is I don't know. The documentation of his life is really shotty. I'm also not a historian. Some historians have given evidence for why such a man never existed. Others say he did. I honestly think that he was a real man that may have been a prophet and teacher that lived a normal life and attracted a following. People then wrote stories about him and turned him into the character in the bible by attaching the supernatural claims. He was probably written in to fulfill the OT prophecies and to reform the religion to make it more appealing as the OT laws were becoming outdated as society and their morals changed.
And none have ever made prophecies this accurate in history, I own Nostradamus book and it is drastically vague.
Saying the earth is a circle isn't the same as saying the earth is a sphere. When you stand atop a mountain it's clear the earth's plane from your view is a flat circle. This does not show they knew it was spherical. And I don't see how the next one tells us they knew about space. It shows that they knew the earth was it's own separate entity.
1st, I appreciate your honest answer. "I don't know." I guess my response would be. "Shouldn't you check it out?" not just the biased websites. Think about this. The bible says satan is the ruler of this world. So even from a biblical standpoint you have to assume that there is false information designed to lead you away from the truth. Ergo, you would have to search more extensively. Isn't it worth it? after all if Jesus really is the Son of God, you don't want to miss THAT boat.
Next, there are amazing documentaries and testimonies from historians and researchers, archaeologists and beyond that will show you the truth ( I have to leave in 5 minutes to visit a friend, sorry this will be brief but I will be back) Once upon a time Pontius Pilate was thought to be a made up character by the world. Then we have real solid proof. Then Caiphus the head Pharisee at the time. They found his burial container and indeed he was the head Pharisee. So these aren't made up characters, they really existed.
We find ancient manuscript which match the Word of God we have today that date as early as the first century, and the way it is written is. "as you all know" and "as you all have seen." can you imagine if a mass scale book came out that said basically that within our lifetime all of these great lies occurred? those documents never would have survived and in such numbers. You really must seek harder my friend.

What is human rationality (chemical reactions in our brain, atoms colliding with one another to form thoughts?) and why do you trust it to tell you the truths of our existence, meaning, purpose? Why do we even have the ability to ask these questions?

Well I don't believe Satan actually exists so that isn't persuasive to me at all. And if that's true wouldn't that mean it's possible satan wrote or altered the bible to lead you away from the truer god? If he's as sneaky as you say that would be the sneakyest thing imaginable. Also just because I donot know for sure doesn't mean I havenot researched it or have a good idea or the answer. Imy not positive exactly what's true about him but I am sure that he wasn't divine. Your last line is almost like pascal wager which fails for its own reasons.

Well I can't speak for all atheists in this matter but I would say yes and no. Not aliens like they're depicted in movies but most atheists do believe that alien life exists in the universe. It's just a matter of probability.
What do you base your hope in so that you may be happy and joyful? The existence and reality of God is not predicated on one's personal beliefs, no matter how sincere. It is clear to me as a Christian that God is quite real an is the author of happiness and joy. If there is no God then there is no hope for those that believe in him. Faith is the hope in the evidence that is unseen. I pray that you may experience this type of faith. Good luck to you Sir.

But I ask that you ponder this, if one looks into these things it is hard to ignore.

Well, our rationality stems from our thoughts, which are created by our brains. If you cut down to it, as an atheist, I do believe we are the result of chemical reactions. Does this mean we can't trust our senses? Well, yes and no. We do our best to understand the world around us. For the most part, what we come to understand about the world works well enough for us. We are constantly finding examples of how misleading our senses can be. Optical illusions are a great example of this! But just because we find flaws with our senses and often our logic, doesn't mean we can't trust them at all. After all, we are able to survive precisely because we trust our logic and our senses!
My body and mind isn't perfect, but it works.
I'm fairly certain yes I do exist. However I acknowledge that I could be part of some kind of Matrix computer program or some other alternate reality that I can't percieve. I don't think that's likely though. Possible but not likely. I also don't like getting into this Sye Ten Brugencate style of arguing about absolutes and reality and junk because it's unnecessary and confusing
I don't think it's hallucination at all. That seems belittling to me. I think it's simply misinterpretation and wish full thinking. "Reading too much into it" if you will. Like where I see a coincidence someone else might see evidence of god. It's just a different way of perceiving things.
As fAR as evolving to have these traits it's not that we evolved to have this perception, it's that we evolved a brain complex enough so that these perceptions are possible and they happened for other reasons.this then gets into simply why religion exists and how religion evolved to be more complex over time.
