The Baptism of Jesus
John 1:32
[SUP]1[/SUP] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[SUP]2[/SUP] The same was in the beginning with God.
[SUP]3[/SUP] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
[SUP]4[/SUP] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[SUP]5[/SUP] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
[SUP]6[/SUP] There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
[SUP]7[/SUP] The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
[SUP]8[/SUP] He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
[SUP]9[/SUP] That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
[SUP]10[/SUP] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
[SUP]11[/SUP] He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
[SUP]12[/SUP] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
[SUP]13[/SUP] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
[SUP]14[/SUP] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
From verse 1. the bible inform us that The Word was God.
From verse 14 the bible inform us that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.
Jesus is the Word that made flesh and dwelt among us.
The Bible teach us that in the beginning there were two Gods.
Joh 1:1–2
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.”
Here we see that the
Word was with God, therefore two individual entities, and that the Word was also a God, therefore two Gods. The verse also states two things namely that the Word was with God which means that He left God and, that the Word was a God which means that afterwards He was not a God anymore.
Joh 17:5 –
“And now, O Father glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory I had with thee before the world was.”
Here we see Jesus’ request to God in prayer to glorify Him with the glory He had when He was with His Father before the world existed. Jesus Christ was not just an ordinary man, but truly the Son of God. Jesus Christ prayed this prayer just before He died on the cross, as He knew what lay ahead for Him.
Joh 8:29 –
“And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.”
Jesus confirms here that
God is with Him, obviously in spirit form as the Holy Spirit, because He (
Jesus) always do things that pleases His Father.
Joh 8:42 –
“Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but He sent me.
Jesus confirms here that God sent Him to earth and how obedient He was to God, as God has commanded Him and He listened and came to this earth, and if we accept God as our Father, then we would love Jesus because He has gone out of His Father.
From the texts above we can deduct that Jesus Christ was the co-God and Word, which originally was with God and became flesh on this earth. Jesus originally was also a Holy Spirit just like God, and He willingly gave up His Godly status when He became man. This act of Jesus giving up His Godly status shows us His willingness, obedience and unselfishness to God and mankind. This left thus only God the Father, as the only Holy Spirit in the heaven. Jesus also confirmed that God is His Father who honoured Him. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and was on this earth to teach mankind who God really is and how to be willing, obedient and unselfish to God.
Jesus asked the man that He just healed from blindness:-
Joh 9:35-37 -
“Dost thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, who is He, Lord, that I might believe on Him? And Jesus said unto him ‘Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.”
The first person that the man, which was blind from birth and has been healed, saw in front of him, was Jesus. It is also Jesus that spoke to him at that moment. Jesus confirmed to the ‘blind man’ who could then ‘see’, that He is the Son of God.
Incidents of ‘spirits of an unclean devil’, ‘unclean spirits’ and ‘devils’, who confirmed that Jesus was related to God, were documented by two disciples. A man with the ‘
spirit of an unclean devil’ confirms that
Jesus is
the Holy One of God.
Luk 4:33-34 –
“And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.”
The
spirit of an unclean devil confirmed that
Jesus is
the Holy One of God which could mean that He is related to God.
Luk 4:41
“And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.”
Again a confirmation from many devils that Christ is the
Son of God.
Mark 3:11
“And unclean Spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.”
The unclean spirits, who were with God in heaven and knew Jesus, confirmed every time when they saw Jesus, that He is the
Son of God.
Luk 22:42 Jesus kneeled and prayed to His Father and said:.
”… Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” If Jesus prayed to God and called Him Father, then surely He has to be the Son of God.
Joh 8:54 –
“Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that He is your God.”
Jesus also confirms that
God, is His
Father who
honoureth Him
The texts above prove that Jesus Christ was a God with God as the Word, but became man which meant that He had to give up His Godly status, His deity, to do the job that God has given Him. There are many texts confiming that Jesus is the Son of God and that He was a man on this earth and not God on this earth.
Jesus Christ spoke these words and confirmed that He came to this earth at God’s request.
Joh 8:18 –
“I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.”
Here we see that God sent Jesus, therefore an instruction from God to Jesus.
Jesus spoke these words Himself and confirmed that God existed and sent Him to this earth.
Joh 8:26 –
“I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.”
Jesus came because God gave Him the instruction, and to inform man that which He had heard from His Father. He also came to confirm to the people the existence of the real God.
Jesus was also sent to this earth to preach the kingdom of God.
Luk 4:43 – “
And He said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.”
Jesus Christ confirmed here that He was
sent by God and His goal was to
preach the kingdom of God to mankind.
Here is also proof that Jesus came to preach the
kingdom of God.
Luk 8:1 –
“And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him.”
If Jesus did not come to
preach and show the glad tidings of the kingdom of God, it all would have been just been fables.
Jesus explained to the people that He knew from where He came from and to where He is going.
Joh 8:14 –
“Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.”
With Jesus’ hearing did He say the following Himself and admitted that He is
not of this world and He came to
bear witness unto the truth.
Joh 18:36 –
“My kingdom is not of this world…”
Joh 18:37 –
“….To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.”
The three texts above confirm that Jesus knew from where He came from and that He came to bear witness unto the truth.
Another goal of Jesus’ visit to this world was
to destroy the works of the devil (Satan). Satan was already in the beginning of the creation of Adam and Eve, on this world.
1 Joh 3:8
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” It confirms here that the devil (Satan)
sinned from the beginning of creation and is also reiterated in the next paragraph and texts.
God’s love for mankind is so great that He sent Jesus, His own Son, as atonement for man’s sin.
1 Joh 4:10 –
“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
The unselfish love of God to send His Son to this earth to die for man’s sin is revealed here. Man now has a chance again to be with the heavenly Father. Jesus’ willingness to come down to this earth proves His love and obedience towards God and His love for mankind. Jesus knew exactly what lay ahead for Him but still came. His work on this earth was perfect and succeeded every time. He was nailed to the cross and, three days later, he was resurrected from the grave. Thereafter He was taken up to heaven. Is that not fantastic to know that we have a chance to be with God Almighty one day?
Jesus laid down His life for mankind and we are also requested to have this same love towards our brothers.
1 Joh 3:16 –
“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
Jesus came and took all sin upon His shoulders and died for us so that we may have a chance to obtain eternal life. He also taught mankind that the love we have for our brothers must be just as strong that we will lay down our lives for them. Here we also find another confirmation of God’s Almighty love for us to send His Son to be the Redeemer for our sins.
Jesus also came to inform people how and what they must do to be saved.
1 Joh 5:1-3 –
“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” This is one of the most important texts in the Bible and the one that is ignored the most.
The texts above provides us with the following facts.
Everyone that believes that Jesus is the Christ = is born of God.
Everyone that loves the Father = loves those that is born of God.
Everyone that loves God and keep God’s Commandments = loves the children of God
The love of God = keep His Commandments.
Or another shorter summary:-
The keeping of the Commandments = love of God = love those that is born of God = believes that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah Saviour, Redeemer, Lamb, or Peacekeeper) = loves the children of God.
This is the perfect recipe for true love to God. Any ingredient that is changed negatively will therefore change all the other ingredients negatively. The one who wants to change it will soon realize that the final product is not going to be the same and could possibly turn out to be:-
Do not keep the Commandments = No love to God = No love to those that is born of God = Do not believe that Jesus is the Christ = No love towards the children of God.
Mankind can thus not accept God and reject Jesus or do not believe that Jesus is the Christ, and so could they not say that they love God whilst they disobey His Commandments, and so could they not say that they love the children of God whilst they do not love those that is born of God.
Perfect love can thus be seen as a unity of::- The Love towards God and Jesus Christ, plus the belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, plus the love to those that are born of God, plus the love to the children of God, plus the love to keep all the Commandments. The omission of any one ‘love’ above, or even disobeying one or a part of the Commandments of God, disintegrates perfect love and can have serious consequences for man.
Jesus also came to teach man how to be good and loving to mankind, not by empty words, but with deeds.
1 Joh 3:18 –
“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”
There is much proof in the Bible how Jesus added the deeds with the words and supported mankind with deeds. He healed and fed mankind. He came to teach man what real love is. He prayed right up to the end, with His death on the cross, for those that sinned against Him. He was a perfect example of what God wanted.
1 Tim 2:5 –
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
This text proves that Jesus Christ is now
“man”, which means that He had laid down his heavenly status as ‘God and Holy Spirit’ before He became ‘man’ on this earth. He also died on the cross as ‘man’. If Jesus received back His total Godly status, He would not have sat there as “man”. This will make the judgement so much easier as Jesus would not have to prove to the people on earth that He died on the cross as man. Satan will also not be able to use Jesus’ death on the cross as a bluff argument ie. that Jesus did not die as man on the cross. This text proves without a doubt that Jesus gave up His Godly status to come to this earth.
Here is proof that Jesus Christ has risen, went up to heaven and sat at the right hand of God and that authorities and powers were made subject unto Him. What the authorities and powers include is not spelt out but we can accept that it can include the universe.
1 Pet 3:21-22 - “…..
Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.”
If you really still believe that Jesus was God on this earth, I will never be able to convince you otherwise. It is part of God's Salvation Plan and it could not have been different. God's plan is perfect and having Jesus on this earth as MAN, is perfect. Even Jesus Christ now sitting at God's right hand side as MAN, and not as God, proves that Jesus gave up His Godly status to show His love towards God and the people in this world. Jesus came to tell the people about God and to reveal Satan and to show man to way to salvation and to die on the cross for all man's sin. This He did out of Love.
