You know if we put aside all our imperfections and think about the people we each gather with when we get together corporately or any other time during the week, the church really is beautiful.

With one caveat...there are tares amongst the wheat.

I see what your saying...wasn't that parable about the world and not the church?

Matthew 13:37-38
He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one.

The Church isn't perfect, but she is the Bride of Christ and that sure makes her beautiful. He has redeemed her. He will return to claim her. And she will be precious in His sight.

Doctrine: what one declares to be true from the Scriptures, is precious also; so it's good to be clear about it also.

I know but I'm not a very good idealist. The world and it's seeds are also in the Church...

Acts 20:28-31 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

Yes they certainly are but for those who are in the Church, how beautiful they are.

Yes, for those who truly 'are' the Church :) and it's good when they dwell together in unity no doubt about it.

Too many see a little flaw in the pastor and decide the church is no good. The pastor is only one person, and none of us is perfect.
