Good for you Fen!

Hey, did you hear about that crazy earthquake/faultline thing going right down 1-90 and expected to snap Erie right off into the lake at any second now? Nutty how this stuff happens....

Anyway, again, good for you Fen!

Yes, I've heard, good thing I live in a submarine. ;)

I voted "not a winner but play one on CC."

I am a winner because of the blood of Christ.

I am a winner because the odds of my being born were against me - my brother had a genetic disorder. By the time my parents got an accurate diagnosis, I was already along. Though not Christian, abortion was not an option.

I am a winner because I learned through caretaking for my brother in his last year, that every breath we take is because God allows it and is a gift from Him.

I am a loser when I feel sorry for myself because I am not where I want to be professionally nor relationally. I am a winner when I am thankful, despite this.

I think a lot of "winning" is about our choices and attitudes.

On an unrelated note, how come nobody has Sheened this thread yet?

No... there really aren't.

If you are saved by the blood of Christ, and you are walking around feeling like a loser, then you seriously need to get into the scripture and reevaluate your life, and your worth, by God's standards.

You need to stop using man's standards, and stop using your own standards, and start using God's standards.

If you think you're a loser:
A. You are using the world's standard's to measure yourself, instead of God's standards
B. You have absolutely no concept of your true value

If I leaned on your understanding of it, then clearly I'm not saved by the blood of Christ. Because I AM walking around feeling like a loser... Albeit a Blessed Loser but a loser just the same.

I would ARGUE that being a loser is NOT a bad thing at least for me that is.

you can be richly blessed and suffer incredibly. Job was a loser. He lost everything.

Yes, I'm still going to say I'm a Loser. Perhaps the problem is people do not take into consideration the actual definition of words. It's not like Beck.. I'm a loser baby, so why don'tcha kill me.

The assumption of loser being something that's bad is a sad twist to the actual definition of the word. As a loser, I am likely weaker than the strong winners out there and that is OKAY by me.

ALTHOUGH, I'm weak and I am a Loser, God's Grace is sufficient... being a loser is not a bad thing.

2 Corinthians 12:9

English Standard Version (ESV)

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Actually for a Christian it should be BOTH. In order for us to win we MUST lose.

Matthew 16

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Thank you. Incredibly well said.

We're not winners or losers. We're sinners saved by grace.

Calling oneself a loser when a Christian is practical atheism and denies what Jesus did on the cross.

You didn't read the thread huh?

Could go a step further and say a person that declares himself/herself a winner is not giving the Glory to God because the Winner is the victor, champion, conqueror, vanquisher, hero .. When in fact, we are nothing without Christ.

However, declaring yourself a loser... is NOT practical atheism as you say because Christ tells us to lose our life... become that new creation in Christ... Pick up that Cross Daily... Die to Self. A Loser is someone that has LOST something. I lost the identity I had for myself prior to allowing Christ into my heart. I lost many many many things .. but that which I gained was far better than all that I lost.

What did we win? We are saved by grace. Some people think they can win their way to heaven by doing so many good deeds.

So if you lose the old sinful nature, how is that being a loser? Really confused.

You have to understand the meaning of the word Loser. Society has changed it to mean some bum, lowlife, lazy, bad person. In Fact, even in a Running race... there has to be a winner and loser. Most people want to be the Winner... I, in fact, would rather be the loser ..and lose gracefully, than be a winner and gloat or feed my monstrous pride. But that is just me.

Loser means a person or thing that loses or has lost something,

  • a person who accepts defeat with good or bad grace, as specified.
"we won fair and square—they should concede that and be good losers"
  • a person or thing that is put at a disadvantage by a particular situation or course of action.
children are the losers when politicians keep fiddling around with education"

Still don't understand. You're using a dictionary definition to explain something theological. The explanation I see is you have to be loser to be a winner.
