after Jesus, who or what is most important to you and why?

random examples:)

my students, because i am a teacher.

my dog, because he saved my life.

my late aunt because she raised me.

my job, because i get to meet new people.

stuff like that. i started wondering about it after i talked to someone who said they have no friends or family, and they don't have a job. long story short, the person couldn't really think of anything that was important to him. he was depressed, i'm sure. he must have had something that was important to him, but he couldn't think of a single thing. i felt so sorry for him.

then i asked myself that and i was shocked to find out i really had to think a lot about it. i mean, what was really important to me, and why. i hope this makes sense.

hi faroukfarouk!:) ty.

your answer is very cool and there's no wrong answers, for sure. not when we are christians dedicated to the Lord Jesus.

i know this is kind of weird because this is a christian site, but i was actually wondering about things not directly related to our lives in Jesus. that might be hard for some people to answer, i know. maybe there isn't any such thing:eek: i guess i will find out in this thread. i didn't mean to separate anything in our lives from Jesus, or to make a shallow thread where ppl would have to force an answer. idk. maybe it's a dumb idea. i just got to thinking about when i talked to the person i mentioned.

I should add travel to my list, such as it is.
travel is one of the things i came up with too.
then i asked myself what it is about travel that is important to me (the "why").
because i like discovering new things (even though they're only new to me - ha).
because i like to get away from my life sometimes, the routine.
because i found out i can get work (everybody needs cooks:))
because i love to enjoy other people's cultures and foods and family life.

i just wish i could travel more. (is that coveting?)

i like reading, too. so i guess i will say books, fiction and non-fiction. probably for the same reasons i like actual travel:eek:.

thanks for your answers everyone. i look forward to more if anyone else is interested. maybe i'm a people person - like, knowing how others think and how they view their lives...what is important to them and why.

My parents since they put up with me despite all the imperfections.

My cats since they pretty much shaped me to be a cat lover and I probably would've thought of cats the same way many others tend to. =^.^=

Friends that actually stuck around through good and bad times. Can barely say they're a handful but they are worth it.

And peach snapple. Can never forget peach snapple.

I can't think of anything more than the salvation of lost souls.
I know you wanted to hear more different than this. Maybe it is my
age and I have less time left than I have lived. I have a heart for
those suffering and in need of salvation.

Next, however, my friend I lost to death, was my prayer partner and
confidant for 29 years. We studied the Bible together and prayed a lot.
But we had fun too, by shopping and eating out. Our husbands worked
away from home, so we had evenings we could eat out, etc.
I love books. I read a lot. Again, Christian novels. I can't tolerate bad
language and the Lords name being taken in vain. So many secular
are made to put that in their writings by the publisher.
Christians are safe to a point. I understand they have to put in
some romance.
I guess I am quite the freakish one in the group. That is okay.. I won't
be around long.
God bless all ~

This makes a tremendous amount of sense. I have been pondering this myself for the last several months.

This a very thought provocative thread. A few months ago I would have said my wife but she is gone now and resides in heaven. I am at a crossroad in my life and what is most important for me right now is how the rest of my life is going to play out. For me, life is an adventure. Checking my map now and planning my itinerary....

I couldn't agree more. J~Kay~2, you are one of my favorite people on this site-nothing freakish about you at all.
Thank you for the kind words. I have more years behind me than I do
ahead. I feel the Lord is giving me a burden to share Him and not care
what people think of me. It made me realize, with less time here on earth
what can anyone do to me for speaking out for Christ?
I appreciate all who enjoy sharing Him.
I also am able to share things of the world. It was the
first thing that came to mind. God bless all. J ~K ~2

If you have the resources to travel, IMO, it would be the best
thing you could do for yourself. I noticed the other girls are saying
travel is on their agenda also.

I told my husband I would not know where to go that one could
actually feel safe, due to the weather being so erratic.
Yes, I am a 'thinker' ..... I think ahead. That is NOT a good thing.

So to all who travel have a blessed and safe trip.

Who: All the people that came before me and will come after me.

What: The chance to have one of my two wishes.

If there could be an "After Jesus". My relationship with Jesus is next. That will take care of everything else.

My daughter - because she is my daughter and I love her and she loves me back.
The cat - because of his unconditional love well maybe because I feed him.
Travel - because there is a great big world out there to be seen.
Swimming - because it's cool - I live in Florida
Winter - because it is cool too.
Christians - the ones who remind me of Jesus because they act like Him.
