I mostly listen to all christian music, even christian metal. For any type of regular music you can think of, there is a christian alternative out there. But really avoid the music with cussing. The music itself is not sinful. It is not necessarily a sin as long as they don't affect your behavior. So as long as you're not harming yourself or anyone else , then you're fine. As long as you're confident in your faith and realize the difference between right and wrong, you can listen to whatever you like. I will say is that you can glorify God through music. Style and genre isn't of the importance, it's the substance, the lyrics, the heart of the matter. It is sin that causes us to be destined for hell and listening to music whatever the style in itself is not a sin.

Not praising god -_- Using heavy metal to do it, it goes against nature.
The Bible say to praise God with all kinds of instruments, don't let a prejudice destroy the work of the Holy Spirit. For truth, God doesn't care if you praise him with pop, rock, heavy metal or classical, he only matter for the heart of the praiser. If God take a look at your heart, he would find a true praiser, or just another religious person?

Read the Bible, God bless you!

Music: It all depends on whether you are bowing before Neb's golden dummy or YHWH.

Christian Metal is a great tool to worship God and to reach out to many with the great message of Jesus!

I'm personally called to be a Metal Missionary and reach out to the metalheads with the message of Jesus. That is the mission God has given to me and many others. We are called to reach all kinds of people and by using Christian Metal we can reach many that would never ever go to a regular church.

For those that are interested I have compiled 7 reasons why I believe it is ok to rock for Jesus at the link below:

CHRISTIAN ROCK: Blessing or Blasphemy? Is it a friend or is it a foe?

The world AND many indoctrinated denominationalists are fiercely attacking, finding fault and trying to destroy the Church of the Living God. Yet many of these same church members think nothing about attending a ball game or a concert, and getting "in the spirit" of another sort, as they scream, holler and clap their hands while rooting for their favorite team OR expressing their excitement, enthusiasm, satisfaction and enjoyment in whatever form of "entertainment" they are being exposed to. Furthermore, the sad truth is that many of these same church members do NOT understand what true worship and praise is all about. They've been mis-led and mis-informed. And, as a result, they would reject the notion that the above referenced Scriptures have any relevance at all for true worship and praise, today. As a result, they miss many blessings associated with true worship and praise. Instead, many churches and church members today have become steeped in traditions, and are accustomed to their form of worship and praise services being nothing more than a place to sit in silence under the power and control of one of the many "spirits of religion" in the world, today.

The true Church of the Living God is NOT a denomination. Nor does it consist of bricks, mortar and sound equipment. Instead, it is dynamic, alive, thriving AND growing. While the vast majority of religious meetings are nothing more than mundane, dry, dead, dull and boring social gatherings. And, many of these same church members are like the religious people in Acts Chapter 2 who did not know or understand what true worship and praise is all about, either. As a result, true worship and praise is ridiculed, mocked and even considered demonic.

In the video clip you are about to see you will actually witness what true worship and praise is all about, as well as the operation of some of the Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit, which many have been mis-lead and mis-informed about. And, sadly enough many church members today think nothing of condemning, criticizing, speaking evil of and even denying true worship and praise, today. Also, what you are about to see should be found in every Church of the Living God. You're going to witness the real thing ... the moving of the Holy Spirit with the laying on of hands, praying for one another AND the Gift of Tongues AND the Interpretation of Tongues. Enjoy!

Most christian metal band are mediocre at best, especially compared to 'secular' bands.
But the label 'christian' ensures them of a loyal following, so they'll sell anyway.

That's not bashing, that's the truth.

I can't listen to a lot of Christian music because it reeks of churchianity. I'd rather listen to the Beatles. Some southern gospel is anointed. It's got to be anointed or u can keep it. I've written and recorded about 118 gospel songs. Only one of them have I ever felt His blessing on. 'He is All I Need' if u care to listen. www.soundclick/devonleesley.com

This is annoying... why does everyone bash contemporary christian music??? If the lyrics are glorifying God.. That's all that matters!! Get out of tradition ansd stop putting limits on God!! God can use ANY genre of music to got His message across!! I love Christian Metal.. Becoming the Archetype is my favorite.. Their music puts me in spirit of worship.. Many of thier songs talk about the absolute power of God. How dare you tell ANYONE how to worship God!! That's a control spirit.. and i rebuke that!
I don't believe I ever started, but now am thinking that maybe I should:)

Seriously though, I don't see how God is glorified in it, but I don't make the decisions.
1 Corinthians 14:33 [SUP] [/SUP]For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people. Now I am not saying this at you, but from my point of view - Metal is not peaceful (for me). But I do not bash. You must decide for yourself if you want to listen to metal. I would not attend a church where metal was sung or played.

All I know is that once I loved that stuff and when I first came into the church I loved Christian metal, rap, techno etc. loved it all.

But as I grew to know the Lord Things began to change the things I used to like became things I hated. I no longer listen to it anymore nor can I, I can't see God in those sounds at all. The words may speak of God but the music is the voice of Satan. that is how it is to me now.

My walk with God is much closer now than it used to be so right or wrong that is my experience.

Can anyone show me how these lyrics do not God God glory, praise and worship?.............................
Can anyone show me how acting like someone out of control is serving God? I like stock car racing. Always said a prayer before I went out on the track. Not one time did I ever think that it had anything to do with serving God. Using His name to justify your lack of self control does not legitimize it. Enjoying something does not mean it has religious connotations by using His name while doing it. If that is all it takes, there are a lot of religious promiscuous people out there.
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

Something about our music is not right, and I frankly don't know what it is. People need to be introduced to heavy metal early in life in order to like it, and usually it means that soft quiet music is a bore to them if they like heavy metal.

It means there is a generation gap, when all generations should be able to share music. When our little drummer gets really wound up I simply have to leave church until he calms down, it upsets me that much. My Grandson feels the same way when the old hymns drag. It really upsets him. He says that God is exciting and wonderful and those old hymns aren't expressing that at all.

Music expresses different states of being. If children grow up with lots of Mozart they actually are smarter. Some music makes you feel romantic. For most people, repeating one line over and over is boring. Rock is meant to bring out a physical reaction. To me, it kills my spiritual reaction to God, to my Grandson it makes him excited for the Lord.

Music in our church should be something to unite, to be one family for God. Music is tearing us apart.

This metal junk is more satanic than the secular junk because we know better. Take it from an old head banger like me.

I don't think you can say that tastes in music is not age related. Do you like Georgian chant, opera, or Bach?

i do.
i love all kinds of music, and even noise. i'm fond of bluegrass, chant, the heaviest of metal musics, electronic, jazz, world beat, country, classical, ambient . . . i even enjoy listening to the static on AM radio with an intermittent signal. i even enjoy the noise of an MRI scan, the cacaphony of insects and frogs at night near the woods, and the rustling of trees in the wind.

some of this has grown on me more as i age, some i've loved since i was young. i've always liked classical music, and the older i get the heavier the metal i prefer seems to get.

taste in music is a really funny thing. i believe it's well to praise the Lord with any sort of noise, if the intent is truly toward God. it's also wrong to cast it as a stumbling block before others who can't see past the rhythm or tone to the one the song is offered to - i can't say Christian metal is "wrong" but not all of it is "right" and it's not right for everyone; obviously not for anyone whose faith is such that they can't separate the noise of a loud, distorted guitar from the image of Satan.

not everyone has this immediate association; i consider it not much different from meats sacrificed before idols - where Paul cautions us against offending those whose conscience is "not too far removed" from idolatry. to some, it is nothing. to others, it is a pitfall. i'm sure there are brothers and sisters out there who think it's a sin to wear black clothing, because in their minds it is associated with evil -- does that make a colored cloth sinful? of course not, but it's not ours to judge each other in matters like this, but to keep our own selves from sin, or to cause our family to stumble into sin themselves.

This post really makes sense. Maybe the answer to the music is for both sides to think of the good of the other more than of just themselves. If people who can only enjoy quiet hymns really make an effort to like much livelier music and heavy metal enthusiasts make an effort to enjoy quieter music we could compromise and all use the same music to worship.

I have truly done all I could to enjoy the drummer in our church who makes the rafters shake, and no matter how I try it simply shakes me up inside. My wonderful grandson truly tries to tolerate the slow old hymns, and just can't make it. Both of these are extremes, each of us could give a little.
