I need to get more physically active and get in shape, especially if I want to join the National Guard. Any ideas of how I can get in shape quick.

Depends on what you mean with quick . I did "Insanity" workout to get in shape, it´s a 2 month programme. For me it worked very well :) hope you find something that suit you.

Exercises and gymnastics have been a big thing in Sweden for many years, right?

I've done supreme 90 (90 day workout) it worked pretty good
Plus running and using the weights at home/gym will help.
There is also P90X or T25 if you like using workout dvds. I would try to find them used because they cost a bit.
I myself have just started the Insanity workout. So far it's really good. :)

Don't forget to eat right and drink a lot of water!
Yeah I know people say it all the time but you'd be surprised how many people don't. Then they turn around gettin all mad because they never got fit or lost any weight. Lol

Prestley:

The bodybuilding thread seems to have gone quiet, where you posted before, but you're definitely keeping busy with your workout! :)

Blessings.

Yes, you need to watch your health, right? Hope it works out well for you. And you've got a parlor visit coming up as well, of course. For the Christian the inward and spiritual comes first; Paul to the Philippians speaks of the 'inner man'; but we need to look after our bodies also.

Blessings.

Make sure when you work out you are also eating nutrient, mineral, anti-oxidant and protein rich foods! No processed stuff! This goes along way towards gaining strength and endurance.

Here's a great tip. Your body will always burn the glucose in your blood before it burns fat. If somebody is trying to lose fat they need to stop eating at 7 pm and then workout first thing in the morning, when the blood sugar is low. This forces the body to burn fat for energy. Like intensity and some of the other programs it is best to work hard for 30 mins, keeping heart rate up. Take small breaks. A workout shouldn't last longer than 45 mins. I hope this helps.

Well first off you got to have the mind set for it, it's not east but you can do it. Watch how you eat, its all about portion size. When exercising cardio is great for losing weight esp with intensity. You can add weights but focus on cardio hope this helps :)

It's so often a case of 'mind over matter', right? :)

Yea I'd say so because at times if your mind isn't in the right place you'll give up eventually, you got to train your mind to stay positive
Having one's goal always in mind does concentrate one's willpower. (Not unlike going under the needle without numbing cream for ink, I guess.) There is so much talk about losing weight, what people intend to do, etc., but the bottom line is how much is the person actually committed to walking the talk?

I was thinking, you endured the tat needle as well, which takes willpower.

Some people's taste buds are so developed that they find it hard to resist high calorie foods...
