I just got up 30 minutes ago, and would LOVE to go back to bed....

I'll make muffins instead.

This totally isn't the low sugar diet my natural doctor wanted me to do. Oh, I need to call him about Mom....
Cut the sugar in half. I do that with muffin recipes all the time (and cookie recipes, pie recipes, etc.)

exactly! i do something similar. for a lot of recipes like muffins (and some kinds of cookies and pastries) i'll add 1/4 of the sugar (or agave substitute) and then use stevia for the bulk of the sweetening.

i often like to make my own protein bars and when i do that, i find that adding a little bit of actual sweetener in combo with stevia seems to create almost an imperceptible substitution. this morning i made some ginger pumpkin protein bars with a little bit of molasses and stevia.

i've yet to meet one person tell me that they think they taste fake.

of course if you do, i might have to hurt you. : )

This is all I have to say on teenage dating:

Honestly, I wish someone told me NOT to do it when I was a teenager but lack of parental guidance and such - I did it and it resulted in being some of the most painful years of my life. If someone told me I was too young... if someone told me it was not worth it.. if they told me about the pain... years later and I am still left with scars from it.

4 egg whites (you could also sub 2 whole eggs if you prefer)
3/4 cup Pumpkin
2 t vanilla extract (most would only use one, but i like vanilla-y things)
2 T molasses or maple syrup
stevia - i can't even tell you how much - maybe a pinch of non-granulated? (to taste) OR a few T sugar of choice
1/4 cup oat bran (gf folks like lil_c could probably try using flax seed powder or gf pastry flour)
2 scoops of protein powder (i usually use whey protein powder)
1/2 t of Cinnamon
2 t of Pumpkin Pie Spice
finely ground fresh ginger to taste -guessing 1 T (or maybe 1/4 t ground)
1/4 t baking powder
1/4 cup pecans or walnuts

preheat oven to 350 F.

in one bowl, mix the egg whites, pumpkin, vanilla extract, and molasses (or maple syrup

in another small bowl whisk the stevia (or sugar), oat bran, protein powder, and all the spices along with the baking powder.

now add this to the wet ingredients and stir well. next, add now 2 T of the nuts until well incorporated.

pour mixture into a baking loaf pan (or can use a muffin tin) coated with cooking spray. add the last 2 T of nuts for the topping.

bake about 20 min or until a toothpick comes out clean.

p.s. it's really good with some mini-chocolate chips in it. or with a big fat dollop of whipped cream. : ) but more often this is just a good, healthy snack for me.

let me know if anyone wants nutritional data.

There's this guy. I know him because of work. He's not a Christian, and he got a really rough start in life from his parents (if you can even call it a start.) I really, really want him to have the peace that only Jesus can give him.

This is not about potential missionary dating, so please, nobody try to talk me out of something I'd never even consider. But I seriously love this guy, and if anybody feels led to pray that he comes to know Jesus, I'd really appreciate that. His name is Mike.

OK, I've had a tough couple of days, when I tell you why it may sound pretty lame and by no means am I comparing my problem with anyone else's problems.

I am a food addict, people laugh at that sometimes, but it's a real thing. I am not a huge person, I'm overweight but I'm pretty active so that helps. I've had issues with food since I can remember. Always eating when I'm stressed, always eating when I'm lonely or bored. I have triggers foods that I have to avoid. It's hard food is everywhere. Things got really bad after I had my kids, I'd get up with a baby and eat to stay awake, when I had two toddlers a year apart, I'd eat to deal with the stress. When my Dad died, I ate.

I've been doing really well, I've noticed when I cut back on carbs it helps me not to be hungry all the time. These last coule days have been hard, not because of stress but because of hormonal things and the only thing I want to do is eat.

I wish I could lock up all the food or not buy it, like and alcoholic, but it's not possible. If I lived alone, I'd have probably 4 things in this house, but I don't.

I'm just praying I can get through a night without waking up and eating. My Husband snores, it wakes me, I can't sleep.

hmmmm. maybe you need a pair of earplugs?

fenner, we all have our bad habits and coping mechanisms of destruction. i know that's been true for me.

i hope you're getting support, not just from here, but elsewhere. i used to go to celebrate recovery, and i love their book studies. they're really excellent, and helped me quite a bit when i was dealing with a lot of stuff.

i love your beauty and honesty, and the courage you show in being yourself. *hugs*

p.s. that pumpkin bar recipe can be made very low carb if you leave out the sugar and use just stevia and molasses.

I don’t like the person I’ve become;
I don’t like what the sadness has done to me.

Thanks for the compliments Monicat, I appreciate it. I do belong to an OA online group, it's very helpful, I will see if we have any Celebrate Recovery groups in my area, the OA groups in my area aren't really great and then their is food addicts in recovery and I felt crazy after those meetings.

Thanks also for the recipe tip Monicat, but I can't make things like that, even with stevia, it would be something I would eat the whole pan of. I'm not kidding, I don't have those triggers with ice cream or cookies, or even brownies, but something with pumpkin would be gone in a day.

My neighbor came over to tell me that our dog barking at night is waking her up and I should make it stop.... better get my remote out and put the dog on mute.... silly me I should have known to do that before hand.

well, it IS possible to train your dog not to bark ;) I think it, ironically, involves training it to bark (on command).

I don't know if your neighbor is over reacting, but I too would be annoyed if a dog was yapping all night (I get into a very dangerous mode when woken up at night, beware)
