I think I've might of read a similar thread but just thought I'd try throwing this out there again.

I know most some, most or all of us probably desire a future spouse to share the rest of our life with: our joys, our sorrows, our laughter, our tears... and I know often times in the waiting we can be discouraged (me included) and wonder if the Lord will fulfill this desire in our hearts.

However, the Lord calls us to "Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

So over this year of waiting... the Lord has been revealing this to me more and more. Even in my singleness, and occasional sense of loneliness, the Lord calls me to live in joy. God doesn't want us moping around and feeling sorry for ourselves (not saying that you guys are, but I'm sure we've all been through that) but instead, he calls us to live a vibrant life, to sprinkle sunshine on each other! (Great song btw).

We are single right now, meaning most of us have free time or are not obligated to someone else at this time... so how can we use our singleness to live in joy and to bring more joy and love to others? I believe this is the kind of life that God wants us to live, a life that brings a smile to his face... a life that lives and thrives in him alone.

Lord, make us joyful loving singles! May we rejoice in the time we get to spend with you more! This kind of joy might attract a future spouse too. O:

Agreed that joyful and enjoying life people are far more attractive than those who are always talking about their problems or just generally miserable.

As to sharing the joy, I make silly and witty comments around CC (and to people in real life). That's how I share the joy. :P I'm also known for giving good hugs if anyone ever needs a hug.

Hug zzz for everyone!

i love strong close personal hugs btw O: what kind of hugs do you guys like? I think half side hugs are kinda cheap xD

I have a female friend who only side hugs men, just to prevent having to press against them. Most guys may not think much about it, but she'd rather be safe than sorry. She makes double sure with married men.

We actually used to have a hugging thread here in the singles forum. I think it was started by Jilly. Dunno,I'm all senile & junk. lol

I believe in sharing the joy as well, unfortunately that commodity is in short supply. Hugs are always welcome and appreciated.

I think touch is so important. :). It's such an important expression of love but is not limited to just being flirty. As a nurse, I love holding my patients hands if they are comfortable with it, especially if they have not been touched for a long time or are hurting inside.

I was working with a patient once who had cancer and did some touch therapy with her, before we departed she said, "It felt like someone really cared." And yes, God definitely cared and expressed it through the touch I gave her. Hugs are so important! Hand holding is so important. And touch expresses so much more than just physical attraction.

these thoughts just came to mind as I was thinking about hugs lol.

Those are wonderful thoughts to have. I agree with you about sharing your touch. I know that I was touched reading what you wrote.

OK. Hugs to you too tourist. I think maybe I made a mistake by saying I would share hugs. I'll have to organize an efficient hug giving system.

Ill be married in october and I have to say that being single was fun because of independence and selfishness time. Independence will depend on 2 and selfish me time cannot be achived unless permissible. :) Its fun. Anyway we're single first bc we have to learn to take care of ourselves before we can earn to take care of another. Seek what you need more than what you want isnt that what God always tells us :) God bless, in Christ!

Yes, very true! I think that even if we are never meant to find someone, we have already found "The One" who truly matters, if you get my meaning...

Yet another zombie thread rises from the grave... And I can't remember where I put those silver bullets! Man...
