Yeah I saw another bad idea t-shirt girl one too where she was more flirtatious... They do pop up occasionally for me as well.

Hey CC people....HOW CAN THIS BE A GOOD ADD TO PLACE ON A CHRISTIAN WEBSITE???????
It's experimental. Thanks for bringing to our attention any bad ad but please don't be critical or condemning. Donations don't bring in enough to support our labors and expenses so we're trying different ways. The great majority of users use the site without ever contributing anything (even a dollar), and we can't guarantee that we can serve thousands of people with no financial support or inadequate financial support. Here's a statistic: # of donations per month / # of users who log in each month = 1%. So out of all the users who log in each month, about 1% participate in donating any amount (and there is no minimum, even $1 is allowed). When I say that, I'm not complaining or whining, I'm just telling the reality of why, like many other "free" sites, we may need to run ads and try multiple means of revenue. Many people go on using our site for years (and can have very high expectations about us maintaining the site and handling problems and abuse case, and moderating it and so on) and never contribute a dollar, so I think it's not an unreasonable burden on them to have ads, and should be understanding of the fact that we're having difficulty and so we're experimenting.

I can block categories of ads -- that is probably under apparel > t-shirts so I will adjust that.

But please understand that it's a little unreasonable for anyone to expect no ads and never contribute even a dollar. We don't want bad ads and that's why we haven't had ads for all these years. But with recent changes made to Google ads (giving the webmaster much more control), and the fact that we're simply not getting enough revenue otherwise, yes we're experimenting with ads.

Please be positive and constructive and try to help us.

Also again, ads can be disabled for any supporter of the site, even if they just contribute a dollar a month. (Just message me in the forum mail please.) But it is our hope that the ads can be okay -- we don't want it to be like non-supporters have to see bad ads -- we shall see. Though we can't guarantee that it will be perfect, though if if there is more participation in donating that we're very glad to remove all ads and never have to worry about ads.

Hope that makes sense.

If you could block swimsuit ads too, I've been getting some of those. They aren't immodest, and I don't care, but some of the guys might?

Also, I kind of liked the old ad placement, where the ad went across the top of the page. With the side placement, if there is a video imbedded in the post where the ad is, it cuts the right half of the video off completely.

Hey Brother....I am not so much against ads so as to keep the site running as I really like this site....my only objection is the adds like the one I got that shows half naked hot women.....I apologize if I came off unconstructive and condemnatory....

I will be more mindful or how I approach stuff like this in the future.....If it were not for a child with congential myotonic dystrophy and short gut which takes $300,000 a year to take care of I would gladly send you some cash to help out......

I appreciate the response mi amigo and God bless your efforts to allow this site to continue>

That's fine - it would have been nice to have been made aware of this though.

Thanks for your understanding, I've had my own issues with children and providing for my family as well, so surely you understand that we cannot devote our lives to serving thousands of people without enough financial support for our work as well as expenses.

Just plese be positive and help us to refine the ad categories, and appreciate any means of financial support that we're able to find which funds the site that you and many consume.

It's possible that we'll totally do away with Google ads soon; I don't know; it's experimental. I HOPE it works because, as I said, it's extremely hard to operate on voluntary donations alone.

SIDE NOTE: the way Google ads work nowadays depends not as much on the content of the site as it does on YOUR OWN BROWSING HISTORY and search history......... so :D ........ ummm......... in *some* cases *some* ads are served specifically to you by Google coz of what Google sees you browsing and searching for........ I could try to implicate more but I'll stop there :D anyway yes we can block categories as well as specific advertisers so let's see how it goes.

Regarding AD PLACEMENT....... I simply used the built in ad placement provided with vBulletin (our forum software).

I can later try putting long ads in between posts instead of inside posts, that will be a little work but I'm willing to try and compare. So please bear with us and thank you for positive, constructive input.

Lol, in my case, someone asked about modest swimsuits and I gave them a link to Lime Ricki. I know that's why they're there, but still, it seems like a good category to block. :p

RoboCop is correct - google does look at your web browers history to get an idea of what ads to deliver - but it's not always that precise.

I once downloaded some music pitch analyzer software - and after that every now and again I would get ad's for music software - until I cleared out my cache.

I really don't have a problem with the ads.

Regarding swimsuit ads, yah I'd like to block that. I don't see a category for it in Google Adsense though..... you would think it would be listed under "Apparel"?

Regarding ad placement, yes we'll try a different placement but it will likely be next week before I get to that.

Thanks for the constructive feedback.

You're probably using a browser-based tool that selects ads based on your browsing habits and preferences.
Just got an ad for "want to teach English"

must be related to DC's spelling - "WHAT'S UP WITH THE STUPID ADDS "
