the "money changers",because they knew that the Hebrews/Jews were required to journey to Jerusalem/temple at the feast "could not according to the law",,pay their tithes with the heathen monies,,,i.e. "images of pagan gods",,,,(THEY WERE NOT PERMITTED IN THE TEMPLE OF GOD),,,so,,,,the "money changers" set up and "exchange table",,,to convert the heathen money(images of pagan gods),,,to an acceptable currency(Hebrew coins)that could be offered at the temple,,,,,

Now the exchange rate was 1/2 on the pence,,,1/4 on the ?,(who knows),,,,but they the (money changers) were charging them a "fee" to give them money to pay their tithes(den of thieves),,,

SIDE NOTE: the way Google ads work nowadays depends not as much on the content of the site as it does on YOUR OWN BROWSING HISTORY and search history......... so ........ ummm......... in *some* cases *some* ads are served specifically to you by Google coz of what Google sees you browsing and searching for........ I could try to implicate more but I'll stop there anyway yes we can block categories as well as specific advertisers so let's see how it goes.

You're probably using a browser-based tool that selects ads based on your browsing habits and preferences.

Well seeing how this is the third person to assume that my browser is selecting this type of ad is about to get redundant and fire me up as I do not control the ADs that COME through CC's Site and on top of that I use Bing not Google...sooooo!

What bothers me about these ads is that they are targeting me! I have seen no teeshirt ads, but lots of things about seniors, and working on the oil rigs in Alberta.

I know it is necessary to have these ads to keep the site running. I just wish they were more generic, not pulling up my information from my computer and then figuring out if they can get me to click. And no, I don't need the "right mortgage" from BMO either!!

Exactly, I tried letting the Administrators know, but they didn't reply back (on a thread).

They replied in this thread and are working on it....some think it is our browsers and I don't buy that either as I am getting adds for publishing books, investments, walk in tubs and showers all of which I HAVE NEVER searched for in my life.....

They also deliver ad's according to page content DC.

I like to use my ipad to read books on prophecy - Apple make some really nice products.

Lets see if we get ads for ipads - hey that rhymes and ads for granny smiths and prophecy.

It may take a hour or so for google's bot's to crawl this page.

Regarding swimsuit ads, yah I'd like to block that. I don't see a category for it in Google Adsense though..... you would think it would be listed under "Apparel"?

Regarding ad placement, yes we'll try a different placement but it will likely be next week before I get to that.

Also some are shown due to browsing habits others are just random. So don't be shocked when you see "gay dating" and "adult friend finder" showing in the singles forum as it will happen. its the nature of the beast.

The problem we had when we tried to run Google ads years ago, was twofold:

1. cult ads

2. secular dating ads

I don't expect to see that now because it now allows blocking of "religious viewpoint" ads and also "dating" ads and also "social network" ads. I've blocked all of those categories.

Anyway, again, experimental.............. hopefully we can have fun and who knows some ad or service may actually be useful to some.

2nd, those ads took you away from here... taking your mind off God and onto worldly things. As I said in another thread, why answer a post and pray for this person who's life is circling the drain, when we can get you a better interest rate! Which is more important to you?

I understand the need to use them, but they are worldly. Choose now whom you will serve.

Pony up the buck or two, or more, and make the ads unnecessary.

I was searching for headphones to buy a couple weeks ago and I just got an ad for headphones on here!

it really is creepy that google and other browsers know what you look at and then send you ads based on them.

Seems like a breach of privacy or something.

Then again, the NSA probably knows everything we have ever seen or done on the Internet. Ugh! That means they have my bank records! The Internet is a scary place!

That's odd, D, I don't see any. Maybe it is the Safari browser Ad-Block program. What browser beez you a browzin with?

But I don't begrudge the sponsors making some money. They must do a lot of work, and they probably have to pay by the hit -- that is, every time someone is logged in, it costs them by the time logged in. And they get a lot of traffic. I think this site is worth supporting. For one thing, it does not seem to be over-censored.
