But I think it was seconds that they questioned, right?
I guess it's a purely subjective thing in that if mom already has seconds, then getting seconds would be 'okay'.

Lol I try to always be respectful of my parents when I talk about them, even if I do think they're nuts sometimes,...A lot of times,....

Yeah, My mom didn't mind as much because she used to have 2nds, but they closed up after a while.
My dad was just all worried about piercings being pagan and such,..but,..I already have some,..and I really don't think God minds,..We have a cool relationship, even when I wear earrings. Lol
Well, fine. Do you get this from Leviticus 19, where the context seems to be pagan necromancy? In any case, I see that the Lord Himself gave earrings to Zion in Ezekiel 16.12.
But it's a personal preference thing, really.

Yeah,...I think it all comes down to matters of the heart. What your intentions and reasons for doing it are. I really don't think that most girls do it out of a pagan ritual,...but,...I have nothing to say about the above example. ....uhhm,..

Doing doubles, you mean? I suppose most daughters and their moms and grandmothers also maybe that do doubles would reckon it's kind of the standard way to go now. And has been for so long.

And, to be serious for a moment............I personally do not have any piercings or tattoos........and never wanted any, or even entertained the idea of such........
BUT........I do not expect others to act as I in this matter.......nor do I judge them for whatever choice they make........
Just as with other choices people have to make in this life every day............they have the God given right to make the choice they believe is right for them...........without criticism, ridicule, or condemnation.......just as I.........

Earrings: well, they are kind of standard fare. Including for huge numbers of Christians; so I find it hard to think that some simple pairs denote a lack of moderation.

When you and your mom had your holes put in, it would be regarded as perfectly natural and straightforward by all but the most legalistic, I guess.

I had my first set of piercings at age 10. Both got infected as I did not take care of them. My second set at age 14, I never wear earrings in them though. Belly button at 17, just a scar now.
We had my daughter's ears done at six months, they never got infected as I kept them clean for her. Getting babies ears pierced are quite expensive as you must buy real gold with srcewback backings made for babies/toddlers. She is four now and loves them.
We did not have my son's ears done. My husband does not like earrings for men. Like farouk said this is a personal preference thing.

Re: earrings............I agree, BUT, IF we are going to seriously discuss the issue/option, then we must also discuss what the "acceptable" standard is yes?
Example: IF the guy pictured came to your/whoevers church one Sunday morning, dressed in a nice suit, wearing a tie, carrying a Bible........would he be accepted in Christian love and fellowship, or would he be cast out?
It is a worthwhile question.........
I had this discussion about piercings with my daughter and my grandson......but I allowed them to decide for themselves what they would do............
