As both a Christian and a teacher I find the ever growing number of unstable, broken homes to be incredibly troubling. I wish the church would do more to address this issue. Kids do better in traditional two parent homes with a mom and dad. Every study about this subject has come to the same conclusion and it correlates with my own observations as a teacher. It's incredibly sad that people take marriage so lightly.
 
I was at an outing Saturday eve. and the topic came up about
our receiving the Shower or Wedding invitations. I mentioned
how a couple I received were registered at a fairly high end
department store and Target.

The fact was prices of small items like spatula etc. were so much
more expensive and we could buy the exact item at Target for less.

The person I was having conversation with brought up this very
topic you posted. She said, "I don't know why they request those
things" Most of them don't stay married long enough to use them.

We are always laughed at when we speak of living together as sin.
We are hoping when they marry they will be able to live their lives
together and not give up so quickly.

I made this statement in the chatroom, that a two parent home is better....I got vilified.

''How dare you put down single moms....you hate women!!''

''my mom was a single parent...I turned out well ''

I bet the mom wished she had help and a good husband.

I am tellin ya...the world today would rather have kids raised by single parents. Is it an excuse thing? I don't know but there sure is some really bad thinking out there
 
How about the single parent that dies and guess who gets to
raise the grandchild or grandchildren.. Grandparents.

Some of the kids have learned early on how to play one parent
against the other. All to make them feel guilty and feel they
have to buy the child what they want.

I think we need to say a big Thank You to the step-mother
that raises another ladies children with love. I am sure it very
difficult to do. Or the awesome Dad who take on another
persons child as his own.

Sorry for getting off topic.. It is an age thing.. lol....
