Jesus did so many things in his life, taught so many people.

Yet Christianity's symbol is the cross.......An ancient torture method used to kill people.

Think about it. We are glorifying a method used to brutally kill someone.

If it was a iron maiden, or an AK, or any number of murder tools, would you still be ok with it?

Just a bit disturbed that our Religion had idolized this torture tool as if it's ok.


People are justifying it because it "stands for Jesus"? No it doesn't, it stands for how he was murdered.


Do we remember JFK, MLKjr., Ghandi, by the symbol of a bullet? NO! Why? Because it's sick and demented to do so.

The Cross is mentioned repeatedly in the New Testament.

Wrong, it stands for His sacrifice, He died for us ALL.
It's 'sick and demented' to question that.

So answer me this. If he was kill by lets say....a guillotine. Would you be ok with all our crosses being replaced by that?

It doesn't signify his death. It signifies HOW he died.

It's like saying that a bullet signifies MLK lol.

Yeah....still not getting it.

I'm not saying we can't have our symbol as an ancient torture device that killed our lord and savior.

Just saying that there is a reason why it's not exactly a good symbol to have and it doesn't really represent Jesus.

I mean of all the miracles, of all the teachings, we are glorifying his death.

Kinda sick tbh.

Here the cross is a sign of denying our flesh and following Christ.

Philippians 2:8

Here the cross is the symbol of Christs humility and obedience to God.



Philippians 3:18-19

[SUP]18 [/SUP]For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. [SUP]19 [/SUP]They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.
Here we see the people who live lives contrary to the Gospel are enemies of the cross.


Matthew 10:38

[SUP]38 [/SUP]If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.
Here we again see Christ himself referring to the symbol of the cross.




So, OP, while you may take issue with the symbol of the cross, neither the writers of the bible, nor Christ himself, took issue with it.

He may seem like he'll trolling, but he really isn't. I understand what he's trying to say. xDDD :rolleyes:

There are plenty of bible verses which indicate the importance of suffering in spiritual growth.

See the first bible verse Ugly posted: Matthew 16:24-26

Following Christ on the road to suffering before salvation is of course tough, but since when has anyone had an easy life? Might as well. :rolleyes:

Jesus is well and in heaven now and we should keep prayer to Jesus for everything we do and say to have him help us. He is kind and loving and I pray we all learn to pray for that.

The Bronze Snake

That Jesus would be crucified for our sins was predestined by God.

He was raised as the bronze serpent that saved Israelites from death , and by His suffering we were justified. When we look at the Cross, when we meditate the Cross of Christ we are saved from the dangers that hover over our lives because of our intentional and unintentional sins.

As Ugly mentioned the Cross of Christ is indeed a Power to those who believe in it.

Ms. Cristene: Yes, the Cross as a vital doctrine is so important.

It is fundamental to a New Testament understanding of the Gospel of the grace of God.

Some Christians also wear the symbol of the Cross as a pendant, bracelet or tattoo, although these are optional only.

I scrolled through the responses and I didn't see anyone else saying this, so If I'm repeating, I'm sorry, I missed it.

But to me,..the cross isn't a reminder of his death. Reading that the cross killed him, kind of makes me laugh.
He was raised again!
Its a symbol of the Price he paid for us. The sacrifice he made. His love, that he was willing to go through that.
He's alive, he always has been. Nothing could kill Jesus. Its a symbol of love, ultimately.
For me, anyway.
