gen 3 v5 for god knows when you eat of it you will be like god knowing, good and bad.
(the snake idea)could this lead, to an unbeliever idea. as in I can live , I die and do what I want. no consequence.(thats only food for thought)
what has knowing good or bad got to do with sin, the only thing, it teaches is there is something, that is seen as good, and something that is seen as bad. we might be like god, as knowing something are good/bad in his sight, and some things in our sight that could be classed as good or bad.

it was god that said to cain ch 4. 6 the lord said to cain, why are you angry. why are you down cast, if you do what is right, will you not be accepted .if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door. it desires to have you.

angry is causing, up set to cain,(mind) it led, later to killing cain killing his brother.(is god pointing out we must master anger, if it reaches full blow,(could this be know as hate or murder) in this case, lead to killing his brother.)
did he know, that hitting him would kill him, yet he knew( am I ,my brothers keeper) he knows how to lie.

god said his blood cry s out to me from the field, ( even in death, god heard abel s cry)

so is sin a wrong action, if you do not do what is right , (sin is crouching at you door.) or is it an idea that leads to planning an action.
either way, god heard, all examples ie being angry, being sad in his rejection, and even when he lied.

and if we never had a bible, we would not know anything about anything that was given to jews or gentiles. through new or old testaments.
one thing its clear about, is god knows the difference between good and bad. life and death. and how to save his children.(them that do believe in him)

your guess is as good as mine. lol

Morality is defined by God and His Laws, so I don't see the problem here.

Morality is not defined by God? I don't know what you mean here.

Also although we like to address morality with God's laws, they do not cover all of morality or in the right way to address certain moral problems.

The bible covers a lot, it does not cover all.

literally, sin is a missing of the mark, according to the Hebrew and Greek bible texts. God himself sets the "mark" that his intelligent creatures are to reach. missing that mark is sin, which is also unrighteousness, or lawlessness .(Rom.3:23;1 John 5:17;3:4)
Sin is anything not in harmony with God's personality, standards, ways, and will, all of which are holy.
It may involve wrong conduct, failure to do what should be done, ungodly speech, unclean thoughts, or desires or motives that are selfish .
The Bible differentiates between inherited sin and willful sin, between an act of sin over which a person is repentant and the practice of sin.

I think the bible covers all.

In the first place, when we see our world and ourselves in the reality of how God created us, we don't look for instructions from Him in a legalistic way. We look at the spirit and truth in the instructions God gives us in how to live successfully and with the abundance God wants for us. In the English language, those instructions are called commandments and law, but in the original language those words are not quite accurate.

The first law given is to love the Lord with all our might, heart, and soul. To do that, we must know Him, and when we do know Him we find His desire for us is to express love for each other, to be just, be kind to each other, to be careful of other's welfare. There are more specific instructions, like not to covet what they have, not to lie to them, to honor the day God blessed, etc., but these instructions are covered by the main instruction. The more specific instructions are just examples of how to live out the basic ones.

The basic meaning is to miss the mark or standard as set by God or to not meet his expectations of holiness as compared to his Holiness!

"...All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3.23).

all my life has fallen short of the glory of God.

"what wondrous love is this, that caused the Lord of bliss to lay aside His crown for my soul?"

So lets see what everyone thinks.

"What is Sin".
-From a biblical standpoint.

"Violating GOD's spoken and written and given 'every Word', through HIS chosen servant CHRIST, summed up and called them as the 'New Covenant', which HE made with HIS redeemed people, is actually 'sin'-ning and as well as 'breaking an Agreement/Testament/Covenant', against 'I AM that I AM' ~ who once rescued them, during in utter desperation seeking help, justice and liberty, from the house of bondage."

I think the bible covers all.

Well...you are wrong.

The bible doesn't cover all and the things it does not we use our pre-existing morality, then the bible if we need to back it up from the religious side.

For example: slavery, homosexuality, medicine, war crimes, scientific experimentation, etc. etc. are not directly addressed in the bible in terms of morality.

However you can interpret verses to back modern morality, but it starts with modern morality first.
