I am at my new favorite place -a hippie, urban coffee shop with bare woods and a lot of hammered copper...and some local artwork displayed.
They have odd but yummy baked items: blueberry/cornmeal donuts, fruit empanadas, cheddar scones, and a glazed donut covered with crumpled bacon!
Heaven on earth, I tell you. Heaven on earth.

Y'all give me such great ideas for a bucket list. I do believe this coffee shop shall go on it. Along with hiking wherever Monica hikes.

I've been blessed lately with my youngest wanting to come in the studio to see my project. She has been in twice to help out. She designed one of the panels, I taught her how to cut glass, she foiled and burnished while I cut another panel. After I soldered, she applied patina to the panel she designed...quite a bit for a 12 year old.
I chained all three panels together, and...VOILA!! My coffee mug triple panel is complete!
I'll show it off tonight in the chatroom!

And since I solved all of my Nancy Drew games, I shall be there due to nothing else to do in my life beyond unpacking!

Lately, I've been doing some odd things. This week I've been doing things like putting the disinfectant spray in the fridge instead of the cupboard, or putting my drink bottle in the cupboard instead of the fridge. I look at my co-workers who I have worked with for the past year and a half and need 5 seconds to recall their name. Only just then, I picked up the salt shaker to put it away, only to bring it with me to the bathroom as I went to take a shower. I've been so, so, so tired lately.

But then again, there is also a very small part of me who has been worried about my short term memory. My forgetfulness has frustrated many people over the years.

At least you didn't put your chips in the freezer... I did that once. Or at least...I found them that way. Can't remember if it was me that did it or not.

Is it just me, or has Chris Tomlin lost his depth in his music?

God's Great Dance Floor? A waterfall? Don't get me wrong, Chris Tomlin has his good songs. But his two newest songs have just kind of....baffled me at how "shallow" they are.

Ignoring the presence of someone you're mad, doesn't make them disappear or any less there. It's just simply you choosing to ignore. You can pretend they don't exist, but in the end, in the grand scheme of things, how productive will that be?

Loving people can be hard sometimes, even for a person who loves to love.

I'll just have to replace my lack of love with Jesus's love, yes? I think that's all I can do. Lol

One more thing for me to get... A ring for my fiancé...
That's kinda a "must" thing to do... or an Heirloom, that's how it worked out for me. My husband got married with his grandpas ring (that passed away 7 years ago).

As someone who has never been a big Chris Tomlin fan.. I have to admit I am actually a big fan of God's Great Dance Floor, and yeah at first glance it seems very shallow and at most very light praise...but when you actually look at where the comes from it actually is somewhat deeply scripturally derived. The song derives largely from the parable of the prodigal son, in that many of us need to return to God and come back to the start, our first love for God, and in that place, we can celebrate, we can dance as David danced and we spring to life. The term God's great dance floor is simply man's little joke i guess perhaps, a little nudge at night fever. ALSO it must be noted God's Great Dance Floor is not his original track, I believe Michael W. Smith originally wrote the song, and it was in fact a worship song...Chris Tomlin took that song and made it a praise track.

Now yes, compared to perhaps Jesus Culture and Rend Collective songs, it might appear very watered down (see the pun? hope you do) and in some ways it is, but I have quite a strong dislike for songs that try to sound spiritual, hence i am not big fan of Jesus Culture, Chris Tomlin did well with How Great is Our God, Our God Is Greater and Whom Shall I Fear....aside from that I am not a big fan of his. I like simple, direct and sincere praise and worship songs, not songs wrapped up in beautiful lyrics or melodies, but simply songs from the heart, that express how amazing God is...perhaps why hymns sometimes really appeal to me.

I do get where you're coming from! I also agree, he did a wonderful job on songs like "Our God," "Whom Shall I Fear (Angel Armies)," and other songs like that. I actually don't like Jesus Culture a bunch (I like few songs by them) because they definitely are watered down. Sometimes their songs sound just straight up creepy.

So let's see if I can achieve a true stream of consciousness post here:

I've got a baby shower and an engagement (or consoling the rejected suitor) party to go to this weekend. Need to get out and buy gifts for that but it's raining sporadically. Had a big storm last night and the power went out which means I enjoyed a great lightning show, but my friend who was going to come and help me work on my project couldn't and so I didn't get any work done. Sadly by the time I got my camera there was a lot less lightning and none of my attempted lightning pictures turned out. Got my bicycle handlebars fixed so hopefully there will be no more near death experiences with steering suddenly giving out in heavy traffic.

Seems like I can't get away from talk of marriage and kids even in the singles forum and it's really starting to make me wonder if I'm missing out on something important in life. Why is everyone so obsessed with such things even when it seems that most of what they have to talk about is negative experiences? Then I wonder what else people should talk about: work, hobbies, deep theological discussions (no wait we already have a bible argument forum for that), just stupid light fluffy stuff to make us feel like we're connecting? Yeah I've probably been trapped inside my own thinking for a bit too long this week. So on behalf of all of us here in cinder's brain we thank you for your attention during this interruption and now return you to your regularly scheduled lives.

I tend to spend my life as a Living Oxymoron.

Emphasis on the Moron.

I'm currently reading a book about the Food Addiction Epidemic in America... while simultaneously maoh-ing down alfredo, an oatmeal cream pie, and M&M's.

No food epidemic to see here!!

Well this has gone just swimmingly.

If y'all get a chance, I could use a prayer or two for...peace? Wisdom? I'm not even sure.
