No I am not confused about that debate. But you have to separate the tradition and law do to the changes that were made between the old testament ( old covenant ) and the new testament ( new covenant ). This is an area some Christians don't like to accept, that there was changes made. And from our Lord Jesus to the writings from Paul, Peter, James, and John you can read those changes.
If you will go to the Old Testament and follow every line of it through to the New Testament, you will see the changes very clearly. There wasn't one change made by Christ in spirit and truth, in the spiritual context of God principles. Atonement was made by blood. Forgiveness through the blood of Christ. The High Priest told them the will of God through the Urim and Thummim, Christ lets us know God's will, He is our High Priest. For instance. We are to understand exactly how Christ is related to all and how Christ changed all---not by adding anything or taking anything away.

Although we are told by Paul that it is a principle of God that we can designate another day as the Sabbath, we are to choose a day for the Sabbath. Christ did not change that principle.

Exodus 20:[SUP]8 [/SUP]Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
[SUP]10 [/SUP]But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

[SUP]11 [/SUP]For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

(a commandment) don't we all agree?

Mark 6:
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

Jesus keeping the Sabbath not sunday.

To be a Christian mean to be a follower of Jesus Christ so why are so many Christians avoiding this one simple thing. Sunday worship did not come from Christ.

John 5:
[SUP]46 [/SUP]For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
[SUP]47 [/SUP]But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
The OT law, including remembering the Sabbath, was only given to Jews to keep, Deut 5, no one else. So it is not a law given to nor binding upon Christians/the NT church. When Christ was alive upon earth, that OT law was still in effect and Christ kept that law perfectly including keeping the Sabbath Day. Yet upon Christ's death, He took the OT law out of the way making it in active, of no effect replacing that OT law with His NT law (Col 2:14; Heb 9:16ff; Heb 10:9; Heb 7:12) where the church/Christians were brought together on the first day of the week, Act 20:7.

Neither. It was a shadow of that which was to come....Jesus.....He is the sabbath. Enter in to His rest from your own labors.

Who were the "us" in Colossians 2:14? My understanding is, Paul was speaking to Colossians and the verse was referring to Colossians. In other words, pagans, the people who worshipped idols and did everything the Holy One of Israelites spoke against in the "OT". They had no hope and were to be "eliminated" by the Holy nation. For example Jericho and Ai.
It's different now that Christ has come to save the world, including idol worshipping pagans, if only we separate ourselves from the unclean just as Paul said in 2 Corinthians 6:17. From this perspective, perhaps one would understand Colossians 2:16 differently.

I guess you are referring to Matthew 11:28.
He also says "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
Two things:
a. He sets examples of how to observe the Sabbath by doing good. Even so, the women who wanted to take care of the dead body of Christ, which was no doubt a good deed, did rest on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment. There are good deeds that can be done and has to be done regardless of time and place and there are good deeds that can be waited.
b. He promises the rest of the soul. Does the rest of the soul replace the rest of the body? If it does, do we need physical rest anymore?

As many as those that command us to worship on Saturday.
And we do know the time has come for us to worship in truth and in spirit no matter where and when we are don't we? That at least I hope we could all agree upon.

As many as those that command us to worship on Saturday.

Not quite true.

Matthew 5:19

"Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

Which includes everything in the OT.
At least the instruction to keep the Sabbath is Biblical. There is no instruction in the Bible to celebrate on the Sabbath.

Matthew 11:11

Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

I mean, I'm all for folks worshiping on Sunday, and Tuesday, and Thursday, and on Leap-year.

But for anyone to say that a Christian worshiping on Sunday is more Biblical or better than a Christian honoring the Sabbath is a little disingenuous.

Matthew 11:11

Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

But still, if John is the least, and others are greater than he is, then those who do and teach the commandments are greater than those who don't.

The question then becomes what are we to teach? For when we teach, do we not also teach ourselves? For those who teach not to break the sabbath as they see it, do they break the sabbath?

Is is it not also written that the priests profane the sabbath and are blameless? Again I say we must know what the true sabbath is in order to obey it correctly. This day will be unmistakably different from anything any man has seen. I've seen many Saturdays in my young life and in this evil world, bills are still due that day too! Plus when it's Saturday for me, then somewhere across the globe it's not for someone else. Is he breaking the sabbath due to being in another time zone?

That's why I pay my bills before the day they're due.

The instruction to honor the Sabbath is not about when the 7th day actually is in one particular place. It's about when the 7th day is for where you're at.

But still, if John is the least, and others are greater than he is, then those who do and teach the commandments are greater than those who don't.
Who said John was the least? The point that Jesus tried to make is that of all the men who have ever walked the earth, there were none greater than John the Baptist but when compared to even the least (those that break even the least of the commandments and teach men to do so) in the kingdom of heaven, such is even greater than John the Baptist!

That at is why regardless of what you seek here on earth, we are told to seek first the kingdom and all these things will be added unto us!

Bills are imaginary and a prime example of what it means to worship things that are made with our hands. And again another reason why Saturday is a shadow to teach men what is to come.
