so, the handwriting of ordinances, which is the note of debt we carry for sin, really doesn't mean that. It means the Law? OK, please explain to me which version we are now on? And explain why Christ keeps changing it.

The Jews had the OT law written down for them, it was those handwritten ordinances, the OT law Christ took out of the way.

When was the last time you offered animal sacrifices for your sins????????????

I understand what Jesus and Paul are saying. Those trying to maintain the OT law is still in effect do not.

So, "Thou shalt not kill" is not in effect?

How about "Thou shalt not commit adultery"? Not valid anymore?

Which of these supposed new laws you propound can make a person a Christian?

And you still haven't told me which version we are on, 1.2? 3.7? 15.9?

And why does Christ keep changing them?

What verse says keeping the OT law makes one a Christian?

No one, at least not me, has said Christ keeps changing laws. He took away the first (OT law) so he could establish the second (NT law) ONE change of laws was made, OT to NT, Heb 7:12

The NT says not to kill and not to commit adultery. But nowhere does the NT command the NT church remember the Sabbath, animal sacrifices for sin, purifications etc etc.

Bass,

Jesus could not have "took away the first (OT law)" if He told His disciples to keep it and teach others to do so.

Sabbath or Sunday? If we are making reference to the Seventh Day, Yeshua, Jesus, has not changed the order of creation. Now in regards to the Sabbath, those who believe their Sunday church service suffices for observing it with a clear conscience in the sight of our Maker are not sinning by doing so.

I hope no one faults others for maintaining the order of weeks in the manner given by our Father. That would be carrying things a bit far............

This post is not in hate, it is the product of much study and meditation.

When was the last time you offered animal sacrifices for your sins????????????

Animal sacrifices were never the payment for sin, they were a schoolmaster...

Heb 10:1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.

Sacrifices were never part of the Ten Commandments...

Deu 5:22 "These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

They were ADDED...

Jer 7:22 For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.
Jer 7:23 But this is what I commanded them, saying, 'Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.'
Jer 7:24 Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.

Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.

A reminder of sin and that a Sacrifice for sin was coming. Even the Jews of Christ's day were looking for this, they just didn't recognize it when it came.

Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
Heb 10:5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "SACRIFICE AND OFFERING YOU DID NOT DESIRE, BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME.
Heb 10:6 IN BURNT OFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES FOR SIN YOU HAD NO PLEASURE.
Heb 10:7 THEN I SAID, 'BEHOLD, I HAVE COME— IN THE VOLUME OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME— TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD.' "
Heb 10:8 Previously saying, "SACRIFICE AND OFFERING, BURNT OFFERINGS, AND OFFERINGS FOR SIN YOU DID NOT DESIRE, NOR HAD PLEASURE IN THEM" (which are offered according to the law),
Heb 10:9 then He said, "BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD." He takes away the first that He may establish the second.

So do you think Pual just out of the blue changed the subject here mid-verse? Or is he still talking about sacrifices? Let's see...

Heb 10:10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

From the preceding converstations, it is clear you have never really read the book of Hebrews in depth. There is much instruction about the New Covenant and how it really works.

When was the last time you offered animal sacrifices for your sins????????????

When was the last time you claimed the True Sacrifice for sin? I did this morning. Sin is still the transgression of the Law and I am not perfect. I still sin and NEED Christ's sacrifice but if the Law is done away, one does not need Christ...

Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

OK. What is Jesus' Law?

1. Love the Lord thy God with all your heart
2. Love your neighbor as yourself

That's it people.

To some people it is told that they should go to church(worship) on Saturday, to others it is told to go on Sunday. It's an individual thing. If God wants you in church on Saturday, and you are obedient to Him, you will be going to church on Saturday even if you don't like it. It's that simple.

Don't condemn anyone for worshiping on the "wrong" day.

The better discussion is how do you worship? Do you give a whole hour a week to the Lord. wow. Do you show up every time the church doors open? better. Do you involve yourself in the goings on at the church and try to get out and visit people, and invite people to church, and try to spread the Word? That is what God has asked of us. It can't be done everyday, it maynot be able to be done once a month. But do you try to do things for the Lord when you have extra time to spare?

For those of you who go to church on Saturday, that's great, if you don't have anything to do Sunday, find a Christian church and meet some new brothers and sisters in Christ.

For those who go on Sunday, that's great too. If you ain't busy Saturday, visit a Sabbath day Church, and you will make some new friends who are also your family to come.

Share, strengthen each other, encourage each other. We are all fighting the same fight, we are just coming from different directions doing it.

Taking the Lord's Supper, preaching/teaching, singing, praying, giving are all forms of worship. Jn 4:23,24 true worshippers worship "in truth". Jn 17:17 "thy word is truth" so true worshippers worship according to God's word - including Acts 20:7.

'first day of the week' the Jews had no names for the days of the week so they based days from the Sabbath. So first day of the week is first day from Sabbath or Sunday. Third day of Sabbath would be Tuesday and so on.

Paul preach at various times of the day/night. The great commission requires Christians to go and preach the gospel meaning the gospel can be preached anytime, anywhere.
Worship - totally agree.
First "day" of the week - the day gives a false impression that it's during the day. However, given Paul spoke until after midnight and a young man got so tired he fell from the window, I would think it's a night meeting, or "worse" a whole day meeting from morning to after midnight. I don't remember who brought this up as a support for Sunday worship but if we are to follow, we probably should have a whole day worship - which I really don't mind, or better, both Saturday and Sunday whole day which we just tried last week which happened to be the Pentecost, if the meeting is edifying.

No one, at least not me, has said Christ keeps changing laws. He took away the first (OT law) so he could establish the second (NT law) ONE change of laws was made, OT to NT, Heb 7:12

And again, pulled out of context. What is Hebrews 7 speaking to and what Law was changed?

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.

The hint is right in that verse but let's read the context anyway...

Heb 7:1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,
Heb 7:2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated "king of righteousness," and then also king of Salem, meaning "king of peace,"
Heb 7:3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.

We start off reading about what? The Melchizedek Priesthood.

Heb 7:4 Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils.
Heb 7:5 And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham;
Heb 7:6 but he whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.
Heb 7:7 Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better.
Heb 7:8 Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.
Heb 7:9 Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak,

Notice anything about what is stated here? It is about the Priesthood and who can recieve tithes. What is the subject? The Commandments? No, the Priesthood and tithes...

Heb 7:10 for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.
Heb 7:11 Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron?
Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.

Now the Priesthood was changed from Aaronical to Melchizedek. Since the Priesthood was changed from sons of Aaron to Jesus Christ, something had to change. Christ had the wrong DNA...

Heb 7:13 For He of whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no man has officiated at the altar.
Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

Christ was not from the tribe of Levi and was not a son of Aaron. What Law are we talking about?

Exo 27:21 In the tabernacle of meeting, outside the veil which is before the Testimony, Aaron and his sons shall tend it from evening until morning before the LORD. It shall be a statute forever to their generations on behalf of the children of Israel.

Exo 28:1 "Now take Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to Me as priest, Aaron and Aaron's sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

Lev 1:8 Then the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat in order on the wood that is on the fire upon the altar;

Num 10:8 The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations.

There are well over one hundred passages that show that the Priesthood was given to Aaron and his sons of the tribe of Levi...

Deu 21:5 Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near, for the LORD your God has chosen them to minister to Him and to bless in the name of the LORD; by their word every controversy and every assault shall be settled.

So what Law had to be changed? The psasage you are misquoting makes it plain...

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.
Heb 7:13 For He of whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no man has officiated at the altar.
Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of Melchizedek, there arises another priest
Heb 7:16 who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life.

We just read those fleshly Commandments, they are about DNA, not the Ten Commandments.

It's not so much of a see if God tells us to do it thing. What I am saying though, is that much of the anti-Sabbath crowd are quick to judge against the Sabbath which is a Biblical command, without ever having experienced it or learning about it. There is the occasional "Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath", and "The Sabbath was made for man" argument. But the strong majority of arguments only consist of the commentary in the NT about why not to do the Law.

I have seen very few anti-Sabbath people address the instructions of the Sabbath in the OT or experiences of the Sabbath itself, and THEN look at what the NT might say about it. You can't make a convincing argument that way.

For example (and a very frivolous one at that), I can say all day long that fish is nasty and tastes horrible. I can even share with you how my friend thinks it's nasty too. But unless I have personally tried the fish, my opinion is merely subjective.

I believe you can't teach what you don't know. Or in this case, you can't teach against what you don't know.

And by the way....
I have tried fish.
And it IS nasty.
I believe quite a few have tried that "fish". It probably tasted "fishy" for it does not taste like anything we come across everyday. Also, it's probably not convenient to "cook" for it takes a lot of preparation. So, it's nasty alright.

The idea of an all night Bible Reading service keeps popping up in my mind lately. I'm not sure of the logistics of it, or the interest from our church, but it's something I'm thinking about.

Love it. Absolutely love it!

OK. What is Jesus' Law?

1. Love the Lord thy God with all your heart
2. Love your neighbor as yourself

That's it people.

You sure of that?

Mat 22:37 Jesus said to him, 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like it: 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

It says in verse 40 that ALL the LAW and ALL the PROPHETS are hanging on these two great Commandments. Since Paul seems to be a favorite of many (I like him too), let's read what he says...

Rom 13:9 For the commandments, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," "YOU SHALL NOT MURDER," "YOU SHALL NOT STEAL," "YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS," "YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."

Hmmm, syas here that the last six Commandments are contained in the great Commandment to Love Your Neighbor. Suppose there might be more to it than the summary?

Oh, and about that first Great Commandment...

1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

To Love God, the first Great Commandment, is to keep ALL OF THE COMMANDMENTS.

To some people it is told that they should go to church(worship) on Saturday, to others it is told to go on Sunday. It's an individual thing. If God wants you in church on Saturday, and you are obedient to Him, you will be going to church on Saturday even if you don't like it. It's that simple.

Hmmm, to some it is don't commit adultery and to others it is, well, an individual thing. That work for you and your spouse?

Don't condemn anyone for worshiping on the "wrong" day.

The better discussion is how do you worship? Do you give a whole hour a week to the Lord. wow. Do you show up every time the church doors open? better. Do you involve yourself in the goings on at the church and try to get out and visit people, and invite people to church, and try to spread the Word? That is what God has asked of us. I would welcome people to try keeping the Sabbath and worshipping on the day God has made holy, so this I agree with.

No one, at least not me, has said Christ keeps changing laws. He took away the first (OT law) so he could establish the second (NT law) ONE change of laws was made, OT to NT, Heb 7:12

So He took away a set of Laws and gave different ones but that is not a change? Apparently we went to different schools.
