Gay Danish couples win right to marry in church


Homosexual couples in Denmark have won the right to get married in any church they choose, even though nearly one third of the country's priests have said they will refuse to carry out the ceremonies.


The country's parliament voted through the new law on same-sex marriage by a large majority, making it mandatory for all churches to conduct gay marriages.

Lord God, give these priests the strength to stand firm in your word. In the most precious name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, I pray. Amen.
 
Well just like I feel gays should have freedom of right to make their own choices in life without being met with hostility because that's their right to choose I feel the Church has a right to say hey we want no part of this. Fair enough your going to live how your going to live even though we explained to our stand point on the situation just like you wish to have freedom to make your own choices and exercise that right so do we like our freedom to exercise our rights. Forcing someone to do something is wrong in any form you carve it in. Don't get me wrong I am not advocating gay marriage. I am advocating peoples freedoms and the right to choose for themselves. Freedom is everyone's right.

In the US, a bakery owner has gone out of business due to not selling a wedding cake to a gay couple. In the UK a bed and breakfast owner was persecuted due to not providing a room to a gay couple. Not all the people of Sodom were homosexual yet everyone in the city was destroyed. Why ? Because they did nothing. The only people who were saved were the family of Lot who tried to fight the corruption. All these countries mentioned above have a good portion if not majority Christian population. What is being down to correct this ?

If you mean redefine it as it is defined by God then negative. That imposes on the freedom and rights of others. You can not change what is. Freedom and the right to choose for yourself only goes so far. If they were to change what it is written for it to be then they impose on the freedom and rights of not only God and Jesus (Big Mistake), but all the Christians of the Bible and all the ones that have existed since and the rule of law as stated by the word.

Now if they want to add some legal mumbo jumbo clause or amendment to allow those people to be married under the gay gods of fruit loops then hey more power to them.

Jesus said in no uncertain terms in the Bible and I am improvising this statement in lamens terms so not an exact quote, but don't you dummies go rewriting this book or adding or taking way from it. He warned everybody. Everybody got warned. Ain't no state gonna ever change my mind about anything he says. He stated very clearly also what marriage was. My definition of marriage is what came out of his mouth. The words he himself spoke. So for me no idiot state politician is going to tell me any different.

I just believe people should be able to peacefully live their lives is all. :)

After so many blatant and purposeful acts against every christian ideal, when are christians going to wake up and see it?

People do have the right to act completely stupid and immoral, that's what gay relationships are and while I am against people harming themselves, in a free society, you cannot legislate, every, moral. So some people are going to do immoral stupid things...

just let them suffer the consequences from their actions and for heaven's sake do not force someone's immorality on those who are against these actions because of religious conviction.

It is a violation of the priest's and pastor's human rights under natural law to force them to participate in an abomination which contradicts their natural moral conscience and an orthodox exegesis of Christian epistemology. How sad only a third are refusing but at least they can individually opt out.

Persecution madness is slowly coming in steps for all who maintain God's holiness and refuse to join the coming apostasy and may eventually in our lifetimes become as bad as occurred in the Soviet Union last century in which it forced genuine Christians to form underground assemblies and live at odds with their government which spent a great deal of time, money, and manpower persecuting them.

Not here yet thankfully.

Good post but not everyone was destroyed. Lot and his two daughters made it to safety. Of course, they were so compromised by that point from living in such a cesspool of immorality which his two daughters grew up in that the two daughters got their father drunk and had sex with him spawning the Moabites that warred with ancient Israel from the 13th century BC.

A fairly shocking origin for the Moabites. Other tribes Israel disliked seem to have fairly shocking origins as well

So much for the separation of church and state in a democracy like Denmark. I don't think a lot of gay couples will insist on having their relationship blessed or consecrated (or whatever) in church though, because Demark is a highly secularized country anyway. The secularization of western countries is something that should worry us much more than some gays wanting to be 'married' in church. Hey, let's look on bright side; a conservative priest/minister may be forced to 'marry' a gay couple, but no one can force him to give a positive sermon at the occasion; a great opportunity for him to 'say his say,' based on scripture. So I guess a gay couple will think twice before they INSIST on being 'married' in conservative churches. :rolleyes:
