Not the least among them where 8 different times where he affirmed his absolute love and passion for the things that God has declared in his word to be an abomination. From a spiritual perspective, when you watch the video (link below), it is terrifying to realize the judgment that he is calling down upon this nation by his open rebellion and defiance of the Holy God of Israel. I rather doubt God would "hate" the liberty to commit to a lifestyle choice as per the free will of humanity, and I doubt even more so that he'd endorse legislation restricting the rights and liberties of different people on the basis of a religious justification. Doesn't the legislation of morality completely defeat the supposed purpose of free will, to begin with?

Ah we were going over this issue in my Politics class this week.

The crux of the problem is this: Homosexuality is a form of sexual abuse. Therefore, if the government condones the "marriage" of two sodomites, the government is therefore condoning sexual abuse.

Furthermore, in the lens of our Federalist legal system we have to ask ourselves two hard questions.
1. Does the Federal Government have a right to define marriage? This is a social issue which the Constitution leaves up to the state-level governments to decide.
2. Should the state-level government have the power to allow sexual abuse to be decriminalized since the Federal level of government has a reasonable expectation to protect the citizenry?

I agree with you. The right of equality for every citizen allows the individual the right to specific, unique religious beliefs - but the former right should never be secondary to the latter, else the latter right ceases to exist. There is one issue I do take from the points made in the original post, though, and the issue is based on my health concerns, not religious ideas.

I am an advocate of rights and equality but it seems to me that allowing HIV infected individuals to enter freely only serves to increase the potential of further spreading of an already epidemic disease. Considering the lackadaisical attitude to sexual protection among young people as evidenced by the increasing rates of STD's among that demographic in both America and the UK, such a move comes across as unwise if not directly ignorant of the reasons people catch these diseases in the first place; irresponsible sex.

I understand that the responsibility to safe sex lies with the HIV infected individuals but it is irresponsibility that would have gotten these people infected to begin with and it is irresponsibility that will see the infection spread.

JK2, if I remember correctly, Obama has mocked God and the bible many times in the past. He is anti-God. I truly believe he is one of the many anti-christ's on the earth right now. I dont like him and I dont trust him and anyone who does is a fool. I have several gay friends who also happen to be my neighbors, and I know one or two transgender people also. I have no problem personally with their lifestyle except that I do believe its morally and sexually wrong, not to mention against God's command for a woman to not lie with a woman, nor a man to lie with a man. I will never understand how one person can be attracted to the same sex. It's beyond my scope of understanding. All I know is, I much prefer being with a man.

I too, have had homosexual relative, acquaintance, and Physician... and I loved them and did not
think of their acts.... I looked at them as a person. I praise God for the Love of Jesus He gives us

JK2, high five back at ya!! The ones who judge and mock alternate lifestyles need to remember one thing: God hates their SIN, he does NOT hate THEM. In fact I was in a pm with a transgender person yesterday, and they are ridiculed and threatened daily for being transgender. It should not marry what gender, or color, or whatever, we are, all that should matter is that person is still loved by God and we, being made in his image, need to exemplify him and do the same. We show Jesus when we are compassionate and non-judgmental. It is when we hate and threaten, that we show satan.

I found this to be a very interesting comment and there is much truth in it indeed. I am sort of conflicted on this one. On one hand you are correct; letting in those affected by HIV may be a poor choice by the US government as given our sexually immoral culture such a thing could cause the STD epidemics to spread even more thus endangering more people.

On the other hand though the US does have world class treatment facilities and programs of care to help people suffering with HIV. So it is also reasonable to think that maybe it is not such a bad thing to allow people with HIV to travel to America to receive treatment to try to ease them of their malady.

Really I think a lot of this again comes back to personal responsibility and society. We have an obligation to help those burdened by disease if it is possible, but at the same time because of our degenerate society we also must be more scrutinous of sexual behavior to try to prevent these very easily preventable plagues from afflicting our people.

Actually, I'm in the camp who don't believe that the gay issue is a civil right issue, although many try to lump it together. When the law of the land constrains them, then we can talk, but last I checked, there wasn't any "Jim Crow" laws set in place for homosexuals, but I digress

People have the liberty to live the way that they want to live. The United States is not a theocracy, so we don't shape laws on Christian beliefs and I don't believe that we should. One of the beauties of our Christian walk is there was no force at all. No man forced us with any threat to Christ nor should we to anyone else. All we can do is speak the biblical truth to whoever listens.

What people do is what people do and in a free society they are free to do stupid things. We cannot legislate stupid away...

but we cannot let stupid make our laws either.

To pass gay marriage laws is forcing our society to adopt an immoral practice. This is not about physiological differences some take as social ones. This is about immoral acts with very bad consequences and while we may not legislate against them...

we should NEVER legislate for them.

As I said before this is not a civil rights issue...this is politics. Its energizing a part of your voting block, paying them back for their votes. Its about weakening the moral fiber of the country so a few people can control the majority.

I will go a step further and say that any comparison to the past civil rights struggles to this immoral moral war, is to spit in the face of every death and ever drop of sweat that gave us the freedoms we have today.

Homosexuality is a sin and it hurts everyone who does it and, it will hurt everyone who supports it as well.

God is faithful. To those who are misguided into thinking gays are a persecuted minority, be careful of what you are fighting for. When the truth hits you, its not going to be pretty.

I'm not for same sex marriage being legislated because I'm not for any marriage being legislated. The government shouldn't be involved in our personal lives, PERIOD. This battle is because they do; they want benefits, nothing more and nothing less, but the strawman of "love" is being thrown out there. If they want to lay up together, I don't care because that's them, but I will say this; no matter what happen, people are trying to make this flamboyant, all in your face stuff (that most heterosexual couples don't engage in) a normality, so we really have to do our due diligence with our kids and the younger generation.
