So, this just hasn't been my week. For some time I've been building a little bit of a cash stash primarily for emergencies, but over the years I've also found that cash is an amazing negotiating tool when trying to get someone to reduce the price of goods and services (waving cash under someone's nose works so much better than waving plastic). The foolish part of this plan is that I kept the cash in my wallet (not entirely foolish since anyone that knows me knows that I carry cash in my pocket, not my wallet).
For years I have left my wallet stashed in my truck since carrying a wallet in my occupation is a nuisance (paint over spray gets everywhere including in your pockets and wallet). Anyway, yesterday I cashed a check from a side job and opened my wallet to add the cash to my stash and to my horror I found instead of approximately $1,000, there was only $100 there. Someone literally pulled my wallet out, removed the cash that no one knew was there, and put my wallet back in it's original place so that I wouldn't immediately notice something was amiss.
The sad thing is that all the evidence points to someone who works for me, I just don't know who and even if I did know who, I couldn't prove it.
