Rom 8:5 "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
You are which ever you choose to put your mind to. If you choose of your own will to mind things of the flesh, you will be of things of the flesh. On the other hand, if you choose to mind things of the spirit you will be of things of the spirit.
And nowhere does Paul ever say one who minds the flesh today cannot repent and mind things of the spirit tomorow. NOr does Paul anywhere say it takes a "miraculous regeneration" act by the HS to bring about this change of minding from things of the flesh to minding things of the spirit.
Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Philippians 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Colossians 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

It states clearly that Abraham was justified in the eyes of God by faith void of works....David described accurately the blessedness of righteousness being applied unto a man's soul without the deeds of the law (works)....the just shall live BY FAITH...
Now you will have those who teach you can loose your salvation and must work to keep it or gain it back which is not biblical..if it is of works then it is NO LONGER FAITH and OWED as opposed unto GIVEN DIA GRACE

Romans is before God
James is seen by MEN...SHOW ME YOUR FAITH
you will figure this out one day...probably too late though!
There is just one way to be justified/saved so the implication is faith is a work.
So Paul is not telling of one way to be justified and James telling of another, different way to be justified than Paul.
My bible teaches Faith is a SPIRITUAL GIFT not a work...so it seems you trust a DIFFERENT GOSPEL not given by God...

that would be TWO gospels. not one.
Only one gospel will get you to heaven, it can not be both ways.
If ANYONE teach a different gospel. let him be accursed. it is quite clear.

Faith is the WORK OF GOD
We have two choices. Trust self (in religion or liscentiousness) or trust God. There is no inbetween!
I agree...I myself choose Jesus and his faith for total salvation....his finished work is sufficient for me and to say I have to supplement his faith states clearly that one believes his faith is not sufficient

what about your faith? you say the work is finished so there is no trial of your faith....

Dude...faith can be grown by testing and that is not what is being talked about in my post to EG as salvation and it being eternal is the subject at hand......Jesus finished the work he had to do under the sun and his work pleased the Father, met the Father's expectation and secures ETERNAL LIFE and SALVATION for all who will acknowledge it by belief!

Romans chapter 6 Paul is speaking to believers. In that chapter He is telling us how to walk, for we still have the choice to decide who we want to follow while still in the flesh. If you let sin take dominion back over you, the wages of that sin is death not salvation.
The Bible says that we are saved by faith but faith without works is dead.
That means if we do not have works in our walk with God then faith is not activated in our life.
The Bible says that Abraham was not justified by faith alone but by works.
But these works are works of the Spirit like feed the poor,preach the Gospel,and do good works which the Bible says we are prepared unto all good works.
When we live for God we have to labor for the kingdom of God and do works of the Spirit and if not then faith is not activated in our life.
So we have to have works which are works of the Spirit which it is not talking of works to be saved but works after we are saved to have faith active in our life.

I understand what you mean but you have to be careful with your quoting...it is better to copy and paste from a bible text to avoid errors like....The Bible says that we are saved by faith...it should be...Ephesians 2:8-9
