I ask simply bc the biblical god uplifts men and makes women submissive and I feel it belittles them to men.
While I DON'T claim that the bible was written "by men for men" you could see where someone could make that assumption.
The books were written during human history where men were in fact thought to be greater than women, so hey, it's a possibility.

I'm not here to talk trash, which I feel like I will be accused of in the future(due to my sincere questions) I just want your point of view or opinion.

i asked someone what they thought and they said that males and females "share different roles", while that could be a passable response. It still ignores the fact that from Jehovah's point of view, women are in fact less than man. (My opinion based on reading the bible)

YHWY, you are thinking in terms of society and not in terms of Bible. God never said or inferred that women were "less" than men. In the family structure, women are "subordinate" to men in terms of authority. But in terms of value, every human soul is the same. Women are not less "valuable" than men are. They simply have less "authority" than men do when it comes to making decisions.

Women are no less valuable than a man is than an employee is more valuable than a supervisor. We need them both to run a company. However, one has more authority than the other. But remember, more authority also equates to more responsibility. And more responsibility equates to more accountability.

Great response!! Thanks, this is what I was hoping to get, real, thought out replies. I see now, but I'm still on the edge about Jehovah and men.
Because of my lack of belief, I see the biblical god being masculine BC the authors were male themselves.
but that's a whole other thing, thanks again :)

Has it ever occurred to you that in the cultures where the Christian faith is prevalent , women have more freedoms than in cultures that aren't?

You are contradicting God and those who do will pay a price for it. Either you are for God or not. In His eyes both are equal but He hold men accountable for the bulk of the work.

God's Word is timeless, as powerful today to transform lives as it ever was.

Before I could read I was listening to the Bible being read. At no time in my life have I gotten the impression from the Word that my gender was inferior to males. God has equipped male and female for their respective roles, and I have never ever, not for one second felt second rate. I feel as adored by Almighty as could possibly be, and I have never read anything other than love beyond my imagination can fathom from my Maker.

an old expression comes to mind here...are you believing what you read or reading what you believe?

Read it again. Pray for your eyes to be opened. Our Mighty One is more compassionate and merciful than humanly possible to know, and He has not short changed anyone.

That is one woman's perspective.

Your opinion is wrong. Read the bible and pay particular attention to the new testament. Women brought every man into this world. How does that make them less than men?

And is your username saying God's not your way? If that isn't what you mean, you should change it, because that's what it looks like.
God's IS my way. The only way.

It is so strange how many people read the Bible and say that God hates women or considers them less than men. Jesus personally waited at a well in order to minister to a Samarian woman...and that is just one example! Many good responses on here. :)

The only reason that a wife must submit to her husband is because the husband is responsible for her actions in God's eyes. The two have become one flesh and God hold's the man responsible.

There would be a lot less divorces if this were held to.

It's not a rank, The husband is to love the wife as Christ loves the church. That's a whole lot of love brother a whole lot of love.

Many women end up without a husband. For most of us, a female was our first teacher. God is not a respecter of persons so when the bible speaks of putting a woman in subjugation under her husband, it is not speaking literally. Remember the woman in Revelation has fornicated with all the kings of the earth.

This again is not a literal female but a spiritual representation of what is being played out as a whole. On a worldly scale, to God Adam is the whole human race! Both male and female. They both make up the man. The woman that is to be ruled over is the wisdom attained by everyone.

An example of this is doing something you don't want to do. Although that inner voice and emotion of wisdom (woman) is against it, you nonetheless do it having your body (male and husband to the woman) rule over her.

So when the bible says women remain silent in the churches it means that everyone should restrain their own understanding gained in wisdom when around other people so that you do not destroy another through that knowledge. Because knowledge puffs up.

People are confused about how God feels about women because they spend little time studying God's word and spend most of their time listening or watching the media and believing their word. The women's liberty movement and the ERA women have a loud voice in our society, but its a lying voice. 1 Cor 14:10 tells us that there are many voices in the world. But Jesus said in John 10:27 my sheep hear my voice and they follow me. The ERA women are not fighting for equal rights. They are fighting for superiority. Because if they read their bible, they would know that the already have equal rights. Women can be saved just like men! They have the same right to salvation, to pray, to be a witness, to love God, to be used of God as men do. What they don't what is to obey the bible and be in submission to their husbands. That is what they are fighting against. And they claim to be fighting against men, when in reality, they are fighting against God.

I know that there are plenty of women that have been mistreated and abused by sorry men who don't have enough guts to live right but that doesn't give anyone the right to disobey God. There are parents that have abused children so does that mean other parents are not allowed to have authority over their children? Does that men children don't have to obey their parents? Absoultely not. God does not value men more than women. He has given us all our place in the home and when we put our houses into God's order, we will be blessed. Men that leave their families fatherless and husbandless will be punished by God in due time because they got out of their place. Likewise women that rebel against their husbands will be punished by God because they got out of their place. Our obedience to God is not predicated on how someone else has treated us. We obey God no matter what!

God had chosen the strong to support their families and the weak to manage the smaller task. You don't send the weak to do the task for the strong and the strong to do the task of the weak. That will be like getting a PhD to prepare for a job working at a burger joint. So the strong must be the leader to manage the whole household, just as a woman that is taking care of her husband that is addicted to drugs, she isn't going to let her husband be the leader, because he is weak. and so it is common sense that the strong leads. I wonder what the turtle is thinking in its mind about why God evolve everything around mankind(Which it is a specie not a gender as well).

men wrote what God told them to write, they didn't write their opinions.

In the beginning of time, God made woman for a helpmate to man ( helpmeet) and if the man( saved) will love his wife as God loved the church( which he didn't yell at his church or cheat on his church, of abuse his church ...you get the jest) then women would have no problem at all submitting to her man. that is where the problem begins when the man and woman do not do their part. .... I myself feel women are not leaders, women think from emotions too much. Men were chosen to be his apostles. Why not women? they were not meant to be leaders. Christ showed us examples, it doesn't take an Einstein to figure out.....otherwise it becomes rebellion on the woman's part. I see no problem to be a helpmeet cause that is what God wanted.

That is not Jehovah's point of view, for women are not less than men, for God said that everyone is equal in His eyes.

Nobody is better, or greater than anyone else, and God said there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile, and that He is no respecter of persons, and what makes you to differ from another person.

Jesus, who is the greatest of all, said that He came to be a servant, and that to men and women, and said whoever is the greatest let him be the servant.

The Bible does say that God is the head of Christ, and Christ is the head of man, and man is the head of woman, and women should have long hair because of the angels.

That is the authority of God on earth according to the natural world, although it is spiritual among those that understand the truth, for the world will not comply with men and women battling for control.

The men are only supposed to have authority when the saints come together to worship God, and hear the word of God, in a Church setting, and in the family, but this authority is not like some suppose it is, for it means that the men are to put forth the ways of God, and His agenda, and not their own agenda, so the man has nowhere to glory, for it is not according to the man's ways.

So the man is actually the servant of the woman and the children, and God has to have an authority structure on earth, like organizations have an authority structure on earth, so things run smooth and the man and woman are not fighting over who should be in charge.

But this does not mean the man is greater, but only according to the authority structure of God on earth, and the woman is a help mate that can also contribute to the cause of the ways of God on earth.

Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

The Bible says among those that are with Christ there is no male or female, for they are equal to each other, and neither one better, or greater than the other.

So God does not view a woman as less than a man, but as their equal.

In the Lord a man and a woman are equal, and even on earth among the saints, with the exception of the Church where the man should take the lead, and in the home where the man should take the lead, but is is according to the will of God, and the man is a servant, and not better, or greater.

But the woman should always obey God before the man if they do what is not right in the eyes of God in the Church. or in the family.

Well your opinion is wrong and you should start from scratch. Genesis 1:27.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
