They were of the fold, that is what escaped the pollutions of this world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ means.
The passage says neither sheep nor fold. You take a passage that lacks "salvation" and "believed" in it & try to deduce things contrary to passages that do use such terms.

They were of the fold, that is what escaped the pollutions of this world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ means. They became sheep, but then turned back and got entangled with the sins of the world. Their end is worse then their beginning because if they would have continued in what they learned at the beginning, Jesus Christ, they would have had the promise of salvation, but now their end is the judgment of hell fire because they did not continue in Christ.
1. They heard the word of truth, And probably walked with Gods children (in CHURCH) Does not mean they were ever saved. I know alot of people who have done this.
2. It is worse for them. They actually had salvation on the tip of their fingers, But in the end rejected it. Now they have to go through eternity knowing that.

Nothing says they were ever saved, that would be an assumption

Isn't it ironic, you guys believe the instant one believes, he is saved, yet you deny this person in these scriptures is saved??

They escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord. (2 Peter 2:20-21)

Hebrews 6:3-6

1. They were once enlightened
2. They tasted of the heavenly gift
3. They were partakers of the Holy Ghost
4. They tasted the good word of God

if you still claim they were not saved, it will make you look foolish. If you agree they were saved, verse 6 blows your OSAS theory right out of the water.

By the way which men do I follow? Which man made theories do I follow? Why not put some evidence behind your assertions.
To know which theories you follow anyone can just read your much posting where you quote no scripture and just pontificate.

The entrance of God's Word brings light.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.

The charge of all sola scripturists.
thanks, you just proved my point.

My doctrine comes from the INSPIRED word of God.

Like the jews in Jesus day, Your doctrines hits on the inspired word of God. But is based on words of men.

So stop saying we follow men, And be humble enough to admit it is you who place the words of men over God and his inspired word (according to you. God did not even finish his cannon..

Atwood,

I didn't really expect you to believe that God is love. That it is the selfless love that He demands of us.
After all, a God that forces certain men to believe, and then forces them against their will to remain does not seem like a God of love to me either. Worse, it makes a mockery of scripture when man is commanded to love as He loved us. Which I presume cannot be like the love scripture describes when you have literally dismissed most of scripture to isolate a few verses that you think support ES.

YOu posted your litney of texts again that do not even hint at eternal security. If like those before, most of them have conditions written right in the text your citing. Hardly bodes well trying to prove ES.
You even cited a couple dealing with works saving us which is a strawman in this discussion. But I know it helps you to have strawmen because you cannot prove ES, you need something to knock down.

I do not expect you to know Gods love, let alone know how to show it to others. If you do not understand Gods love and saving mercy on those who do not deserve. That his death paid the debt in full. And that salvation comes to all who call on his name in true faith. You can not truly understand the love of God.

True love is given and shown to the undeserving, If one has to earn it, It is not love, it is pseudo-love

Thats what your church teaches.

What text states that a person is "saved" at the moment of belief?
So how will you argue that people can lose salvation if they don't have it during this lifetime, Cassian? OSS = once saved, saved. So now you must throw away any alleged "lose salvation" texts, if people aren't saved until death. Of course you are aware that Christians are called saints in the NT.

John 5:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

1 John 5:13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

1 John 5:10-13
Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

Ephesians 1:13
In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

John 6:40
For this is the will of my Father, that every one that beholdeth the Son, and believes on him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:47

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.

John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

John 3:18
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Revelation 3:5
The one who overcomes will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father… 1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. And who is he who overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God? For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

JOHN 20:30
Many other signs therefore did Jesus in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book: 31 but these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye may have life in his name.

Act 13:48
And as the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 which is an earnest of our inheritance, unto the redemption of God’s own possession, unto the praise of his glory.

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved,

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; that whosoever believes may in him have eternal life.

John 3:14-18

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whosoever believes on him should not perish, but have eternal life. 1For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him. 1He that believes on him is not judged: he that believes not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only Son of God.

John 5:24
2Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believes him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.

John 6:47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes hath eternal life.

John 10:27
But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.

1 John 5:10-12
He that believes on the Son of God hath the witness in him: he that believes not God hath made him a liar; because he hath not believed in the witness that God hath borne concerning his Son. And the witness is this, that God gave unto us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath the life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not the life.

Acts 15:8

And God, who knoweth the heart, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did unto us; and he made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

Rom 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith.

Rom 3:21-30

But now apart from the law a righteousness of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe; for there is no distinction;

Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence:
And he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

Rom 10:4ff

For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believes.

Gal 3:22ff

But the scripture shut up all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. ...For ye are all sons of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus.

Philip 3:8-9
Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ, and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:

Heb 3:19ff
And we see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief. Let us fear therefore, lest haply, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed we have had good tidings preached unto us, even as also they: but the word of hearing did not profit them, because it was not united by faith with them that heard. For we who have believed do enter into that rest;

8 whom not having seen ye love; on whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

What is remarkable is how you go on just saying your own words. It goes nowhere. I will let anyone who cares look at the long list of verses which absolutely proof eternal security, though you just deny it. And none of them say that works save.[/QUOTE]

For by grace you are having been saved [in past with results in present, periphrastic perfect] and that not of yourselves not of works lest anyone should boast.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.

lol.. Judaism was based on scripture also. Their problem was they twisted scripture.

Paul used scripture to prove his gospel. that is all he needed, Yet according to your church we need more.

As I have said before. Just because someone interpreta something wrong, does not mean the things is in error or useless. it means the interpretation is useless.

It does not mean we need men to make the same mistake the jews did, And call those writtings equal with scripture. We saw how well it worked for them

When Christ returns, We will see it did just as good for your church as it did for the jews.

And again typical. You have no proof. (yet you keep demanding it from atwood) on;y further conjecture not based on fact.

I can't believe how Cassian thinks that Mormonism wasn't concocted by satan and some supposed golden plates along with special modern revelations when convenient.

You reckon Cassian hasn't heard of Charles Taze Russell?

Yep, striving as the Pharisees - always ready to DO something. Even when they confess that they have been "justified by grace" they would like to be sanctified by works! They seem to forget that God has "made Him (Jesus) to be unto us "justification and sanctification" and not by our own effort. What they are saying is that it is faith in Christ's power to keep me if I can only keep my own faith!
