And holding a belief about a style of government negates someones Christianity? Atheism isn't even one of the main tents of communism.

Read what He said. He said they have stolen the banner of taking care of the poor. Christ called us to this, it is His glory alone.
I actually agree with the Pope's remarks, I had seen this yesterday.
It is true strict communism is basically a religion of atheism at its purist philosophy. Though history has proven how such a philosophy is vain and unworkable in reality. Look how many of the former communist and quasi-communist countries have many growing numbers of Christians. Taking care of the poor and having essentially a classless society under God is the greatest utopia. Crazy atheist cult of the leader and state stuff obviously is not good given the numerous examples of failed empires and governments of the 20th and 21st Century. Communism at its purest can't work for the one simple reason of States imposing persecution for belief in Jesus, but Christianity can work in many of the principles many good-hearted commies propose like taking care of the poor, and I think many so-called communists aren't totally gone like Stalin, but are more minded towards wanting to do good for their people which is good, they simply need to allow for the Christians to grow.

Re: Atheism/communism- Marx did espouse that religion is the opiate of the people.
If he'd only speak forth the gospel 1/2 as much as Peter then maybe his 'poor' adherents would have true hope instead of a ''I hope so'' hope.
difference...communism ends up being forced, christian charity is free will giving.

Can you point us to his latest homily where he proclaims the Gospel , not in Church terms as in the Eucharist, but in plain language where it could be grasped by the man on the street? Sort of like Paul did at Mars Hill.
Seem to recall rabid persecution of Christians in communist regimes, such as the USSR, Romania, and China. Tell those people that communists are closet Christians!

Well, coming from a religion that used to chain it to the pulpit and one that kept the average man from KNOWING the real truth.......!

Alas, not true. Paul consistently said to keep the feast. Eucharist was the centerpoint of Christian worship.
Yup. That's church talk to the saved.
That kept the stripes off Paul's back, and the mobs from stoning him when he went town to town spreading the Good News.
I'm talking about preaching the Gospel where Paul's life was in peril everyday. Oh, does the R.C. even have a category for evangelizing the lost with the Gospel anymore?
I choose historical context as opposed to bias blindness to the truth mi amigo! Thomas...the Catholics do not have the truth, never had the truth and are an apostate religion that worships idols....swallow your Catholic pride and come to the light...no offence meant!
