It is obvious you have created your own personal gospel since there is nothing scriptural in your entire reply.
Now look back over this typical sola Cassiana & see if yon Cassian hath a lean and hungry Bible verse quoted anywhere.

Reader, if for some reason you are regarding the Lord Jesus as a mere "chance-giver,"
repent & trust Him as Savior.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.

Re: Calvin Shmalvin; TULIP Is Not Essential to the Doctrine 4 Some

You would think that for some reason someone thinks that just repeating
"Calvin . . . Calvin . . . Calvin . . . Calvin . . ." like a mantra refutes Eternal Security - LOL.
As I pointed out, I think that the famous apologist Norman Geisler
( www.normangeisler.net )
rejects the T, U, L, & I of the TULIP, while holding to the P.

IMHO, the best radio preacher of all time is J. Vernon McGee, who did a 5 year cycle of preaching through the Bible from Gen-Rev on the radio, Monday to Friday, and also had supplementary Q & A programs. He has now gone to Heaven. But his programs & teaching are on YouTube.

Here is his Q & A where he endorses Eternal Security: Dr J Vernon McGee Q&A - Eternal Security of the Believer - YouTube

And here is the YouTube entitled: "
"Dr. J. Vernon McGee Refutes Calvinism - . . . "
Dr. J. Vernon McGee Refutes Calvinism - Doctrine of Election and Free Will (Part 1) - YouTube

"McGee calls Calvinism's Doctrine of Election a dangerous and frightful view of God. He also said, if he believed in this doctrine, he'd never attempted to preach the word of God and never try to lead anyone to Christ because there'd be no need of it."

I think you will find more than one of his videos on these topics (like election, free will, predestination).

My point is not to endorse the great preacher McGee on this subject or to disagree with him here. My point is that repeating the old Calvin mantra proves nothing.

Really to understand the teaching of eternal security requires looking carefully at the many texts that proclaim this truth, not worrying about ol' Calvin.

Now reader, if you think of the Lord Jesus as a mere "chance-giver,"
repent and trust Him as Savior.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
for He shall save His people from their sins.

as much as you might try to extricate yourself from a false teaching such as OSAS. the doctrine stems from Calvin's developed system of theology. That is historical fact. That some man thinks that you can separate a tenet from the foundation of predestination and say it is scriptural is even worse than holding to Calvinism as a whole.

Which is why you have yet to give any evidence for OSAS. It does not exist is scripture as it has always meant from the beginning. If you want to take credit for the teaching, that is up to you, but the fact is, it has existed since Calvin as part of a theological system.

Predestination as understood by Calvin's theology, is the antithesis of scripture. God's purpose in creating man, interacting directly with man as revealed in scripture cannot be accomplished by predestination.

Where are your verses that give evidence of OSAS in scripture? You post God's promises, but God does not operate throught decrees and predestination. He has entered into a direct relationship with man in a covenant. Each party to the covenant has obligations to meet. You need to find a text that guarantees man's side to the covenant. A promise that man can guarantee his faith.
When you can have both parties guaranteeing their respective obligations, you will have OSAS as per scripture and not by some man made theory, predestination, which does not exist in scripture. You cannot change historical facts either that OSAS is not of scripture, but devised by Calvin 1500 years after the fact, and that historically the Gospel has never held such a teaching prior to Calvin.
After 3021 posts you have yet to produce any evidence clearly indicates that it is a false teaching and is not scriptural as scripture has always meant from the beginning.

Where are your verses that give evidence of OSAS in scripture?
OSS = once saved, Saved!

for starters:

the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He Who calls you, Who will also do it.

Col 3
If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth. For ye died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall be manifested, then shall ye also with him be manifested in glory.

2 Thes 2:16
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
End of Rom 8:
And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose. For whom
he foreknew,
he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren: and whom
he foreordained, them
he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom
he justified, them
he also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 3He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth; who is he that condemneth? It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written,
For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

THE OVERCOMER
Revelation 3:5
The one who overcomes will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father… 1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. And who is he who overcomes the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God: and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away. And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he saith, Write: for these words are faithful and true. And he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

2 Tim 1:8-9
… God; who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,

the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 10:27-29
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.

And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. Re: Calvin Shmalvin; TULIP Is Not Essential to the Doctrine 4 Some

as much as you might try
Some will stay in their unbelief.
He who is convinced against his will,
Is of the same opinion still.
---------------------------------------

Dear Reader,
If you think Christ is merely a "chance-giver,"
think again, He is the Savior.

"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish."

"Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
For He shall save His people from their sin."

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved."

This Jesus Christ is the 2nd person of the Trinity, who became a man, then died for our sins & rose again.
"For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only Son,
that whosoever believes in Him,
should not perish, but have everlasting life."

For whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be saved.

Do you, dear Reader, have faith the size of a mustard seed,
enough faith to ask the Lord Jesus to save you?

Call out now:

Dear Lord Jesus, please save me; make me a child of God, forgive my sins & give me your free gift of eternal life. I do now trust you as my Savior, & I depend on your death on the cross to pay for all my sins.

There remains no more sacrifice for sins; going back to the Temple at Jerusalem with animal sacrifices is no longer legitimate. And Christ will not be sacrificed a second time. BTW, the doctrine of salvation is about the Savior helping sinners. That verse is not about salvation. Nor is it about losing salvation. If the passage had said:

[/COLOR]Christ will hinder you from sinning willfully by working in you to will and to do according to His will, then the verse would be about salvation. But your verse has nothing in it about salvation and does not say that.

The whole chapter has to do with salvation ...you are just babbling
So the theory of future sins being forgiven when one is born again is not true...

[SUP]But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

18 [/SUP]Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

Of course Christians can sin. In may things we all stumble (James).
But the Christian receives a new nature, old things pass away, behold all become new. The Christian is a new creation, result of a new birth by the Holy Spirit. It appears to me that the new nature cannot sin. But the Christian retains the Old Man, the flesh in which Sin dwells. So he can sin. Read about it where the Bible speaks of new nature, new creation, begat/begotten of God, as in 1 John and see what you think.
No you read this...
you see what you want to see and don't blame the old man

Romans 6:6
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Ephesians 4:22
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Colossians 3:8-9
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Here is one passage: "[/SIZE][/SIZE][/FONT]Whosoever is begotten of God does no sin, because his seed abides in him: and he cannot sin, because he is begotten of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil:"

I take this to refer to the new nature; it cannot sin because begotten of God.

1 John 5
"We know that whosoever is begotten of God sins not; but he that was begotten of God keeps himself, and the evil one touches him not."

Compare Rom 7;

"For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I know not: for not what I would, that do I practise; but what I hate, that I do. But if what I would not, that I do, I consent unto the law that it is good. So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good is not. For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practise. But if what I would not, that I do,
it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the law, that, to me who would do good, evil is present. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members. Wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me out of the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then I of myself with the mind, indeed, serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."

Do you see that in this passage the Christian is like a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, having two I-mes?

what I see is a man who refuses to do what God says to do...He says you put off... and put on...

Romans 13:12
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Romans 13:14
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Ephesians 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Ephesians 6:11

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Colossians 3:12-14
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

You may draw your own conclusions. Receiving a new nature is part of salvation. Salvation is the Savior helping us sinners; and getting a new nature is part of that help. Since the new nature is the result of the Lord providing a new seed, and since that seed abides (remains), it is understandable how the born again Christian perseveres.

This helps me understand eternal security. (understand his word)

Remember NewB, salvation is about a Savior helping sinners. If your passage is not about that, then it is not about salvation.

If anyone is reading this & thinks that the Lord Jesus is merely a chance-giver instead of a Savior, let him trust the Savior today as His Savior.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
for He shall save His people for their sins
.
what does my conclusion matter...it is the truth that matters...straight scripture...not my opinion...The holy scripture is the only doctrine I follow ...What sense does it make for God to give us all this power and we sit by and say God has to come to help us, as if we are helpless. Do we have the mind of Christ or not.

Doctrine of man will only stifle your growth...
1 Corinthians 4:20

For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

1 Corinthians 2:5
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Ephesians 3:20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Ephesians 6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
2 Peter 1:3
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

The Subject is Salvation: ES Comes Under Salvation

Let us not confuse judgment & salvation.
Salvation is about the Lord helping out sinners who cannot save themselves from their sin. He is the Savior, not the "chance-giver."

Salvation is something received by trusting Christ and Savior, a change of nature from Adamic sinner to Child of God. Salvation is also a guarantee of eternal life. But it is also present daily help from a loving Savior.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.
Passed from death to life.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden,
Even the God who is our salvation. [Selah
God is to us a God of deliverances;
And to YHWH the Lord belongs escape from death. - Ps 68

The Lake of Fire is the second death. The sinner needs to be saved from himself in his depravity and weakness; the Christian needs daily help vs indwelling sin. The believer has the promise of eternal life.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sin.
Guaranteed!

The hand of my Savior is strong,
And the arm of my Savior is long;
Through sunshine or rain,
Through loss or in gain;
The blood flows from Calv'ry to clean every stain.

There's room at the cross for you;
There's room at the cross for you;
Though millions have come,
There's still room for one,
Yes there's room at the cross for you.

Doctrine of man will only stifle your growth...
Worse than that, it can prevent one from trusting Christ as Savior, while one insists (doctrine of man) that he is just a chance-giver."

Your verse has nothing in it about a Savior helping anyone (salvation).

Why not focus on such passages to learn about salvation?

Heb 10:39 is about salvation:

But we are not them who shrink back to perdition; but of them who have faith to the saving of the soul.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.

You can continue to cite the same texts but the meaning of them does not change. They have not changed since they were given 2000 years ago and OSAS was not the meaning then, nor now.
Face facts, you have no evidence as per scripture. only from your personal opinion and self interpretation by imposing a sectarian concept upon scripture. OSAS has been refuted historically and theologically 500 years ago. That status has not changed, scripture cannot be changed by man.

Re: Calvin Shmalvin; TULIP Is Not Essential to the Doctrine 4 Some

Your barrel has run dry. Same old repeated rhetoric cannot change the Gospel according to Christ as it was given in the beginning. -

It is obvious you have created your own personal gospel since there is nothing scriptural in your entire reply.
Since you reject the purpose of why God created man, you have nothing to link to the attaining of eternal life which is the very same thing.
You have changed the scriptural definition of the fall with the false doctrine of Original Sin.
You have also rejected the salvation of the world/mankind through His Incarnation and resurrection
Denying the Incarnation and the salvific content through Christ's resurrection you deny the resurrection of the dead, and the victory of Christ over death and sin
You also described the atonement in the terms of the false teaching of Anselm's Satisfaction theory.
We also know that holding to a false theory of eternal security you hold to a predestination theory of God acting indirectly through created means, since God is totally transcendent.

The only conclusion is that you believe in a personal philosophical construct rather than the Gospel of Christ as He gave it in the beginning.
It is clear that you are speaking about a completely different paradigm than what scripture has always described from the beginning.
I am honored (actually I give the complete honor to the God who saved me completely by the power of the cross) to make you think the way you do.

Do us all a favor. stop responding. You prove everytime you post you do not read a thing anyone says. Your responses are full of half truths.

My gospel is from Jesus, WHoever believes in me shall never perish but has eternal life.

Thats the gospel in a nutshell..

You deny this gospel. You preach and live the gospel of satan. I feel sorry for you. If you were not shown truth. But you have, so you are given to God. for only he can help you

The Lord Dislikes Distrust; Trust Christ as Savior, not "chancer"

The Lord Jesus offers Himself as your Savior;
Do not write Him off as a "chance-giver"

Distrust is a particular offense to the Lord:

Therefore Jehovah heard, and was wroth;
And a fire was kindled against Jacob,
And anger also went up against Israel;
Because they believed not in God,
And trusted not in his salvation.
- Ps 78

Can you trust in His salvation,
not writing it off as a "chance"?

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
for He shall save HIs people from their sins.

How Much Salvation Do You Need? Do You Want?

Turn us again, O God of hosts;
And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

Quicken thou us, and we will call upon thy name.
Turn us again, O Jehovah God of hosts;
Cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved. ps 80

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
for He shall save His people from their sins.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.
again a babbling for a response..you claim salvation but you refuse all the power that comes with it. Your excuse... salvation is about a saviour helping. I have shown you where God has given you power to become a son of God... You have been given power over sin...where is your POWER brother

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [SUP]2 [/SUP]For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

[SUP]6 [/SUP]For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

Assertions without any evidence again. I can assure you I do not believe in the man made theories that you have espoused. It is purely a sectarian, personal interpretation that you have clearly stated rather than the Gospel of Christ as He gave in in the beginning and has been preserved by the Holy Spirit. Anyone can check what I stated which is historical and theological fact. They can also check yours but it does not get beyond Calvin and the Reformation respective of OSAS. Some of the other things you stated you believe are just flat out denials of historical Christianity, especially dealing with the Incarnation.

I deny YOUR gospel as all should, and have turned to the Gospel according to Christ. Your personal gospel cannot be found historically anywhere, as if Christianity never has existed. You even deny that you have adopted the false teaching of Calvin, OSAS which he developed which is also an historical fact. YOu can attempt to disown him, but once again, you cannot change historical facts.

You are kicking against the pricks and cannot show any substantive evidence for your view since it does not exist in scripture as it was originally given.

152 pages and still cannot see that a person can leave God. They do it all the time in real life and that is very evident and even in the bible. I'm talking about saved, baptized in water and even baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. Just walk away and return to their old lives.

I deny YOUR gospel
Cassian's false gospel: "Thou shalt call His name Chance-Giver, for he give people a chance."

Our Gospel:

God so loved the world that He gave His only Son
that whosoever believes in Him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.

He Who began a good work in you, will complete it.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
for He shall save His people from their sins.

152 pages and still cannot see .
Cannot see that the Lord Jesus is a Savior,
& not a mere chance-giver;
Cannot see that salvation is the Lord helping persons,
nothing to do with them walking away.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.

Re: Calvin Shmalvin; TULIP Is Not Essential to the Doctrine 4 Some

the Gospel according to Christ as it was given in the beginning.
[In the NT (the beginning) there is no RCC & no Eastern denomination.]

I AM the good shepherd.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.

1 John 5:10-12
He that believes on the Son of God hath the witness in him: he that believes not God hath made him a liar; because he hath not believed in the witness that God hath borne concerning his Son. And the witness is this, that
God gave unto us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath the life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not the life.
