What is your 'go to' comfort food or thing?? What do you reach for to take your mind off your worries and help you escape reality for awhile? It can be a food or a book or music, whatever it might be..

It usually involves my computer. Whether that is listening to music, watching youtube, or playing games. Ice cream, tea, and hot cocoa are also nice relax foods or beverages. Oh and a good book or movie is great, though sometimes it's hard for me to find a movie I've seen before that can really keep my attention.

Anything sweet, candy or fruit, and getting lost in singing and playing guitar.

Food: I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Coconut chai latte. *happy sigh*

Other "escapes": working out, going for a drive, making music (singing, piano, guitar, etc), to name a few

Starbucks Vanilla Latte, Ben and Jerry's Half Baked ice cream, and McDonald's fries LOL I rarely eat the last two but I do indulge in a vanilla latte about 3 or 4 times a week :D

I have different comforty things for different types of moods. I'm about to go way too into detail about this. FYI, and whatnot.

When I'm stressed out, I eat sweets. Cookies and cake and ice cream and chocolate...and lots of it. While reading. I like to curl up on the couch with a pillow in my lap and set whatever dish containing whatever sugary substance on said pillow and eat and read. And then I sleep too much afterwards. A couple days of this...which is really more like maybe 5 or 6 hours, plus the extra sleeping (gotta schedule my self indulgence around kids and nap times), and I feel better.

When I feel sad or really down, I gravitate towards food like chicken pot pie or casseroles. I want that stuff bad enough to actually cook, so that kinda illustrates my desperation...anyway, I will barely eat any at dinner time while the kids eat, but when they go to bed, I'll grab a plate of whatever it is and sit and watch movies. Sometimes I write, sometimes I get really overly absorbed in painting.

When I feel angry or anxious, my comfort is music and exercise and cleaning and rearranging stuff that doesn't need rearranged.

When I feel like I've just straight up lost my mind, I crave vodka. I don't keep any alcohol in the house because I feel like I've lost my mind way too often...history of drug and alcohol abuse in my family...been down that road before...yeah. Not worth it, so instead I just end up doing really odd stuff...I mean, more odd. Shockingly odd. Like the time I snapped my flip phone in half and tore it apart with a pair of tweezers and threw the remains out the car window. No real reason for it. But it was very soothing, so...

Prayer and Bible reading fit into all categories. So does coffee.

...the end...

That is exactly my oldest sister. God bless her, she can be fuming, but if I take time time to listen to her so she can process it all aloud, she's all better after.

As for me theres a few things.
If it's food: M&Ms 4 standard to 1 peanut... mmmmmm perfectly delicious ratio :) :)
If exercise: Cycling or climbing
If music: classical or progressive metal
If screen: Video games, CC or cartoons.
If relaxing in general: My couch. It's a man eater. Im sure if you pulled away the cushions there'd be skeletons that had been couch digested in there. Soooo comfy :)

Food: Dark (70-80%) chocolate and / or Peppermint candy
Drink: Caffe latte or similar

Books are normally a good escape, much better than movies

I used to go for walks, but the town I live in is a bit ... dodgy... so walking alone at night as probably not a good idea

Actually, the most efficient thing for me is just sitting in the sun on a warm day. I can practically feel the sunbeams turning into serotonin .p

A long drive in my car .. some nice jazz or blues with dim lights ... a nice medium rare tenderloin steak with mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables ... or maybe a good scoop of belgian chocolate-flavoured ice cream .. a warm shower while i'm singing at the top of my voice .. :D

I will crave homemade mac n cheese. There's a reason it's called "comfort food."

I wish I were one if those peoole who didn't eat when stressed. I like salty and/or fatty foods, like the afore-mentioned mac n cheese, ice cream, nachos, cheese and summer sausage on cracker, etc...I think it's the fats I crave more than the sugar, even when not stressed, but it gets out of hand when stressed.

I think I'll do cheese and veggies for my next pity-binge. It would be healthier.

I will also play the piano, but haven't practiced much lately. When I have creative energy, I'll also work on a stained glass project. I tend to get lost in it, ignoring the need to eat or sleep, but it's very relaxing.

+ driving: window open, hair blowing and loud music playing - helps me to release some of my inner-angst

+ hanging upside down on my inversion rack

+ sf fudgsicles

+ anything with lots of cheese on it

+ super-hot, long shower

+ a funny movie that i've seen many times, for nostalgic value

+ a glass of wine, or a beer, especially paired with a yummy chicken salad

+ practicing my memory verses. or reading my bible

+ listening/singing some worship music

+ making a fat pot of some stew/soup... all the food prep, stirring, tasting, aromatherapy and eventual reward seems to distract me in a great way

+ loud dancing to louder music

Caramel corn or dark chocolate. In moderation, of course.
