I stumbled upon two articles on CNN.

Folks may not like some of the dog photos on the links.

"This relativism is more dangerous than the absolutism of vegetarians or even of thoughtful carnivores. You can abstain from meat because you believe that the mental capacity of animals is too close to that of humans. You can eat meat because you believe that it isn't. Either way, you're using a fixed standard. But if you refuse to eat only the meat of 'companion' animals -- chewing bacon, for example, while telling Koreans that they can't stew Dalmatians -- you're saying that the morality of killing depends on habit or even whim."

Oh no.....no, no, no, no, no, no.....but then again, I was raised in a culture that eating a family pet makes me feel very sad :(. But like the article refers to in India, cows are sacred and yet over here, they are a dinner staple.

Brings to mind all the horrible jokes my South American friends made about BBQing my pet guinea pigs.....

Good article, but no.......IMO, because I love em, dogs should not be put on the menu!

Good point about India.
I have heard Americans display frustration with starvation in India as they refuse to kill cows to feed themselves. Yet the same could be said of America. We have all of these starving homeless and poverty folks, and we have probably millions of stray or unwanted dogs. I wonder if some nations look at Americans and think they're nuts for NOT consuming the meat right in front of their eyes. Sacred dogs in theory are no different than sacred cows.
 
well, pet dogs maybe...don't know how sacred they're held in America, or over here for that matter. Although, here they're part of the family unless they're a working dog. Yeah I think it's the fact that they're part of the family makes me shudder at the thought of eating them! And that being said, I grew up on a dairy farm where our calves all had names, came when called and were very tame. And yet, I still eat beef. Hmmmm
 
Where I grew up...on a Indian reservation....the natives have no reservation about eating dogs. I however, do not even desire to know how they taste. I like my dogs...all three of them and if we ran out of food...we would likely all starve to death together.

Well I can see where dogs could provide a source of protein in difficult circumstances. Who knows in the face of famine we may eat dogs or worse.

From a practical point the cultivation of domestic farm animals results in a much higher return of protein for the energy invested in its production. Dogs being a scavenger by nature are not highly desirable as protein sources.

We are able to glean protein from many sources. Even rats, cats and monkeys are edible not to mention numerous insects. We could feed many people on just the food stuffs we waste. We waste huge amounts of food not only on a personal level but the government wastes huge amounts of food through regulations. Much of the food given in foreign aid is wasted, stolen or otherwise misappropriated. How much food donated to starving countries has been sold for money to buy guns to enslave and starve additional populations?

The Lord said that the poor you have with you always.

I'd say Messianics would say 'no'.

Leviticus 11:26-27 The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.
And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even. hehe
 
Dogs seem too dirty to eat in my opinion. Not even in the kosher sense, but I mean literally, I have seen dogs do some disgusting stuff, I cannot imagine wanting to eat one on that basis alone.

Aside from that, I don't hold anything against someone that is forced to eat dog meat. However, I would advise against making such a practice commonplace. In many countries this all ready happens and the sanitary conditions of the meat and way the dogs are farmed is unethical and unclean for human consumption.

This may be, but you cannot get a 20 0z. porterhouse out of a dog HAHA and the day I eat dog is the day I cannot buy food and or kill deer, turkeys, rabbit, squirrels, quail, pheasants etc. and or fish HAHAHA
