Could Christ's return be in just weeks or months?

I'm not professing that I know when Christ would return. But there are factors that pose
a significant threat to the world that Jesus may have been referring to.

Israels' enemies have agreed to trade between themselves. Those that have nuclear
weapons will supply nuclear weapons to those who have oil in exchange for those
that have oil supplying those with nuclear weapons with oil. This agreement may
pose the most significant threat to not only Israel but the entire world in world
history. Power of this magnitude has always been under the control of a world
power that would never use the nuclear option accept as a last resort. For the
first time in history, the destructive power of nuclear weapons is finding its
way into the hands of those that have little fear of using them and no concern
at all for the wellbeing of the rest of the world.
This is a real and present danger. 40% of the briefcase size nuclear bombs the
Soviet Union had in their arsenal prior to the country's breakdown are
unaccounted for.

Add the latest report to this threat, and you have the makings of a disaster.
It has been reported that the US govt's statements about being able to detect
small nuclear weapons has been discredited. This lack of the ability to detect
small nuclear weapons leaves a massive hole in the US defense against nuclear
attack by small nuclear weapons.

Food for thought: This is the first time in history that weapons of mass
destruction have been in the hands of renegades. This represents a significant
threat worldwide. When Christ said He must return or there would be no flesh
saved, could this be that trigger? Could it be that Christ's return is just days
or months away?

This reminds me of the young teenage couple who went to their paster and said they wanted to get married.

Suspiciously, he asked, 'why the hurry'

'We expect the Lord to return soon and we would like some time together before he comes.'

That was in the 1970's

The Rapture and the Tribulation may still be decades away.

no one knows when He comes... that is why we are supposed to "stay alert" all the time.....
 
It's always a possibility that the Lord will take his church out at anytime. You bring up some good points that I appreciate. We have to be dilligant
when it comes to this subject. Thats why I believe we need to tell as many people as we can about Jesus. Not knowing him is the path to
****ation. My heart is aching for the lost people of this world.

So many will tell you that it's not true, or I don't believe in all that stuff. Or I'll wait until Im a better person, or Im just not ready yet, etc.
Maybe we can reach a few. I hope so. I like your topic. Your right when you say we can't know the day or time, but, in the sacred writings
were given many signs. Mathew 24, etc. God Bless

Let's remember that the first generation of Christians thought that Christ would return before they died. Here we are 2000 years later. All throughout that time, there have been events that people could claim were signs of the end. I saw someone posting in another thread here that the swine flu scare could be a portent of the end times, which is ridiculous; the black plague, which wiped out 1/3 of Europe's population, was around 700 years ago. Hitler was supposed to be the anti-christ and WWII was supposed to be part of the end of days, yet here we are 60 years later. If you ask me, we have no more reason to think the world will end now than we did 1000 or 2000 years ago. For all we know, humanity has another 2000 years, or more.
 
Ya thats the big thing going on right now. "We don't know when the Lord is coming" That is true no one knows the day or the hour. But jesus gave us signs in Matthew 24 and a lot of those things came to pass. And He said when you see these things " This generation will not pass away till all these things be fulfilled. Its true that they keep putting dates on the Lords return.

If they put an exact date you know the Lord must likely not return on that day, because the Bible says no man knows the day or the hour, but we can know the season and I believe with little doubt that it will be in our life times.

Well, that's not exactly true. If it were true, then I could wake up every day and say, "The Lord will return tomorrow!" and as long as I did that every day, He could not return in my lifetime.

I think the meaning behind that passage is that no one TRULY knows the time or day. If you think you know, you don't. But yet you claim there are signs that will foretell the end: if that were true, couldn't we just read the signs and determine when the end is? Wouldn't that contradict Jesus' claim that no one knows when it will happen?

First of all there are all kinds of warning of the end times in Danial, Revelation, and verious other chapters. And the fact that we are slowly turning into a one world government is a huge step.

Now as far as being able to prevent Christ from coming just by getting up every morning and saying that he is coming is not what I ment. There was a man that wrote a book way back that was called 88 reasons the Lord will return in 1988 or something like that and I think he had an exact date and many people beleived him. The Bible says that Christ will return on a day that the unbeliever least expects it and that is why I don't think that He would come when they predict a certain day.
