Hi everyone, I would love your opinion on a question. What impact would it have on ones faith if they chose a partner who did not believe?

To be unequally yoked...........is not an easy thing.........Paul spoke of this. One must consider the stress that would arise within a relationship/marriage when only one of the parties is a believer. Then, one must consider what happens if children enter into the picture.
Now, yes, it is quite possible that the one who is a believer could end up influencing the unbeliever and leading them to a spiritual awakening...........but it is also possible that the unbeliever could lead the believer astray.
I suppose my question would be........"What does one consider a meaningful relationship/marriage to be?" And, can such a relationship/marriage be all it can be if God is not the focal point of the relationship/marriage?
I would think it would place much stress on both parties..........but that's just me, so.........

The impact is......A dead relationship...
When you first get together...everything is great, you have similar interests, and of course all loved up, but it doesn't last forever.
Why?
Because when you both get older you change, eventually it will have effect on the believer.
not the non believer because they know no better.
The believer is faced with many disappointments as he or she would like to share their thoughts, feelings and concerns with their partner although the non believer is not interested.
The believer becomes disconnected from their partner and starts to feel as if they are no longer compatible. Which only leads to heartache and disappointment.
You eventually look back and think that materialist things and many other things don't matter any more.
Intellectually, we as human beings and Christians naturally want to experience new and greater things.
When we can connect spiritually, physically, emotionally and mentally with our partners we are able to grow together in many ways.
It is a forever commitment, living with someone that is full of sin will eventually pull you in some way or another.

The children will know that one parent is a believer, and one is not...........not every time........but a lot of the times, these relationships have their problems........arguments and such..........fussing over this or that.......and if the unbelieving spouse consumes alcoholic beverages and/or drugs of one sort or another........well..........
The simple act of one parent being a believer...........taking the children to Church 'n' such, and the other parent not being supportive of that..............."Mommy, why doesn't Daddy come to church with us? Does Jesus not love him too? Does he not love Jesus?".........and on and on and on.........
And when they get older, the impact can be greater..............just think about the ways the children will be effected.

Don't misunderstand me...........as I said in my first comment, it IS POSSIBLE that the unbelieving spouse can be led to Christ, and the marriage end up a good marriage/relationship............with a strong Christian base to build and grow on.
But, don't be blind to the alternative either...............

He couldnt understand that the devil used him to attack me......christian couples are able to use
scripture to guide them......I go to God for everything.......he would mock me....shame me......and actually
do things to prove me wrong......his pride wouldnt allow him to accept that I could be right...and he was wrong..
Nonbelievers know nothing of our ways.....to watch him fall into satans spell and know the
train wrecks I was about to endure left me beaten..... I knew what to do and it seemed the more

Everything in the world and of the world has an effect on ones the are trying to believe and those that just believe. Love is complicated is has many definitions and the should ofs, could ofs and on and on in arguments is appalling to both you and the other when you do not agree, fights are stirred up, fights of I am right you are wrong, which to me says both are wrong.
If you can't take the heat and live above the circumstances in God's love as in 1 Cor 13:4-7, get out of the kitchen, stirring the pot, saying this is the way, you are wrong and I am right. Does that not make you both wrong, and you both being carnal? To tame anyone is being master of anyone tamed?
You believe, then you are one with God and I know you already know what to do by God in love to your husband, and that does not always mean stay, or leave.
this decision is ultimately between God and you. Ask God for that love to be imputed into you as in 1 Cor 13:4-7, and wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, the art of fighting without fighting, is love for real, not a doormat as it seems to many others, yet not.
if you are physically abused, mentally harmed get out, get professional help, from others
Listen to them, but do not follow any other complete as if they are your savior, only Father is through Son. Who is at work for your peace, yet not only yours your Husbands as well.
Praying for you, prayed for you, it is in God's hands, hope you are listening to God, make your decision, and carry it out
It is far better to live in the corner of an attic, than with a crabby, contentious person. We are called to peace.
And many do live at peace while in adversity, for Christ said we all will have troubles her ein this world. So if even leaving one situation, we all get another one coming as a tidal wave.
So if you can be at peace stay if not leave, just remember, another tidal waive comes to steal, kill and destroy. That does not stop. How one reacts though does stop it, then another tries until one just is at peace no matter what, then it can't exist anymore.
Kind of like if one is drowned by the rain, the rained can't trouble that one anymore
