I will once again put this in our language for our time. If we stop using money and love and help one another FREELY, God will be found. But no one is seeking God as long as a man is begging for food in front of a fully stocked store.

I think Jeremiah is describing how to seek the Lord. Jesus confirms it with Mathew 7:7-8 where He says "ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." I think Romans is saying that no one is seeking Him. It would seem most of the world is running as far away as it can. Its a heartbreaking thing to think about.

Ecclesiastes 5:19New King James Version (NKJV)

19 As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God.

Money is amoral, it is neither good, nor evil however what you do with it can be (good or evil). The perspective you take on demonizing money is not biblical and is what some define as a poverty mentality. It is not pious, or spiritual, to be poor. How about we START using money and love and help one another freely with such financial blessings?

A good saying, "We love people and use money, never the other way around."

That is the whole point! Money itself is a lifeless object and yet we let millions suffer without it, AND IT IS NOT NEEDED FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN CONTROL OVER PEOPLE. And plus the verse you quoted has nothing to do with what we call money today. This verse is about what Christ described as treasure from the heart, wherein lies the true value of a man. The flesh profits nothing. What profits a man to gain the whole world and yet lose his soul? We die because we work for things we know rusts and fades away.

I believe cam72 got it right, read the entire chapter of Romans 3 to get the subject Paul is addressing, the context is different than the verse in Jeremiah; "There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one" (Romans 3:11-12)

If one reads the 3rd Chapter of Romans, it's pretty clear what Paul is teaching............ok? One verse out of context does not a "disputation" make............ :)

your thoughts on this dichotomy?
Does anyone seek God just to know God? What is the motive behind the cloud?
Many say this and that, yet many are not seeking truth beyond measure. How many go to Church just to know God, no other reason?
So I see the Dichotomy, that God will not reveal God to you or anyone until that is all you want and nothing else?
seek with all of you, and one's stony heart they are born with will not search out God just to know God, rather for a good Job, Wife, or money and or all of those, and never get their new heart, that is a free gift from God to us all through Son

If I do not want to just know God over everything else here in this world, do you or anyone think it is righteous for God to give it?
So this Dichotomy comes to play, I will give mercy to whom I will, God speaking to us all
Time to seek God with all your heart that is stony, that does not want God, begging for mercy to get thaqt new heart in Spirit and truth, a free gift from God for all that will seek for God and God alone

Romans 3:11 is to those under law while Jeremiah 29:13 is those under grace. No man comes to Jesus unless the father draws him. Once we are His, then we seek Him.

Jer.29 offers the invitation to seek God.
Rom 3 is the state of mankind without an invitation by God.

your thoughts on this dichotomy?
Romans 3:11 is a general statement speaking about wicked people. It is not a statement about the righteous.

Paul is reflecting on the sentiment found in Psalm 14 and Psalm 53. He is not making a doctrinal statement that there are categorically no people whatsoever who understand or who seek God.

Psa 14:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Psa 14:2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
Psa 14:3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Psa 53:1 To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
Psa 53:2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
Psa 53:3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

It is the fool who denies God. It is wicked rebellious men who have gone aside and gone their own way. It is amongst these people that there are none who understand, none who do good, none who seek God. One cannot seek God from this state because rebellion to God is the opposite of seeking God.

People like Abel were not fools who denied God and went astray. Nor were others like Job, Daniel or the parents of John the Baptist.

These two verses show that the great majority, including Christians are not really seeking God. Most believe that they are, but they do so like Cain did by bringing the fruit of the earth.

Again, the simplest way I can demonstrate this, and I know you all are tired of me beating this drum but my work is to warn as I was given.

But God did not put a price tag on any of His creation. So if your church is dealing with money and paying bills, then IT IS OF THE EARTH.

God's word is free. He doesn't need money to help spread the truth, as the truth is already in you.

If we really sought God, meaning that we love and look after one another regardless of our differences, FREELY LIKE WE DID WHEN WE WERE CHILDREN AND DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS CURSE OF WORK, then we would be blessed so much, we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves!

In the context, Paul has declared both groups, Jew and Gentile, are under sin....."they (Jew & Gentile) are all under sin" verse 9. Yet the Jew says we Jews are better than the Gentiles.

Paul then in verses 10-18 quotes OT verses that proves the group Jew are under sin as much as the group Gentile. For after quoting these OT verses, Paul in v19 says Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

From verse 19 we can see that these OT quotes in verses 10-18 are being directed specifically towards the group Jew. Paul in essence telling the Jews that your own law that was given to you indicts Israel of its sins, so shut your mouths about being better than the Gentiles.

Including one more verse removes any dichotomy for me.

No one seeks God (Ro 3:11)

apart from God enabling them to seek him with all their heart (Jn 6:64-65, 44, 37)

which is how they find him (Jer 29:13).

What do you think?

You uphold birth depravity and therefore believe that sinners are lost due to a birth defect as opposed to anything they could truly be held accountable for.

In your mind a new born baby is unregenerate and wicked and would therefore fall into the category of "there is none."

You also believe that salvation is a result of "Irresistible Grace" which serves to offset the birth depravity. Your theology is contradictory because you'll teach that the rebellion never actually ceases and thus the offsetting is only ever partial, just enough to accept the legal transaction you believe in, ie. Jesus obedience credited to your account.

To sum your theology up. Confess your inability and depravity, trust in Jesus and wait on God. It's a very clever way to dress up Satan's first like of "ye shall not surely die" by adding "ye cannot obey God,"

let me add these verses.

Gen 6:5,8
Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

the KJV translates favor as 'grace'.

does that clear things up, or muddy them? :)

Romans is discussing the natural man and our flesh which is corrupt and fallen, cannot understand the word and the word is foolishness unto a natural man or the flesh....

Jeremiah is leveled at the house of Judah and the Southern Kingdom...and if they would rend their heart, humble themselves and seek God with a whole heart then they would find God....

Both are applicable unto all...It is not in our fleshly nature to seek God but and If we respond to the measure of faith that has been given unto all men and seek God with a whole hearted effort we will find him....

Straight and narrow is the path that leads to life and FEW there be that FIND IT!

I think it's in perfect agreement with Ro 3:11.
