I just recently found out that the number is written as three letters. From what I understand, so far, the first and second are letters in K Greek, but the third is an obsolete letter (I know, an obsolete "letter" in a dead language, but I assume it was obsolete before or approximately the time it was written). From what I have read on multiple places, the letters stand for 600, then 60, then 6.

Please check out any and all information. And I reserve the right to be wrong:). Although, correction would be appreciated, please be humane, and remember that I did advise everyone to check this information.

It is a symbol ....a geometric design that represents "666" that means "life" ... It breaks the language barrier. You can not see it with the naked eye unless you draw it out but can deny it by denying your own life. The old you dies and He (Christ) lives in you.

I care little about receiving the "mark of the beast" and care more about having the "mark of God".

ἑξακόσιοι ἑξήκοντα ἕξ. Literally six hundred, sixty, six. They're not letters, but each a complete word. I don't know who told you that third letter is obsolete - it functions just as much as the other two letters. Otherwise correct.

As a side note, ἕξ translates as hex, which is, of course, where we get all our six-sided words in English from (hexagon, hexadecimal, etc).

The Mark of the Beast in Revelation is applied to a MAN, not Men. And John told his 1st century readers they can know who this man is!!! Revelation 13:18- 18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

Now how could the 1st century Christians know this man and calculate his number if this man lives after their life time or in our life time? What an injustice on the part of John who told them they could know who this man is, by the calculation of 600, 60 and 6, and what insignificant it would be for them to know the name of this man if it pertains to someone who lives centuries into the future, long after their death.

Oh? So he is already been here and gone? Pray tell, whom may he had been.

It really isn't that hard. :)

The number 666 in Greek and Hebrew adds up to "Neron Caesar", Nero Caesar.
It's the name of Nero, the Roman Emperor, ruling romans in rome

John was writing Revelation sometime around 64 AD.
in the time of danials statue of roman

17And that no man might buy or sell,
save he that had the mark,
or the name of the beast,
or the number of his name.

18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast:
for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Ah the Nero Theory. This one makes me laugh knowing my Roman Histories. The most obvious way to disprove the Nero is Beast Theory is the fact John didn't even write the Revelation until several decades after Nero had stabbed himself in the neck and perished. Therefore it would make no sense for John to record a prophecy about the future using Nero whom died well before the angel even showed John the Revelation.

The Roman Emperor during the writing of Revelation is thought to be Domitian, a foul pagan known for persecuting Christians. Historical Lore states Domitian even tried to boil Apostle John alive in the Colloseum, but when John somehow miraculously survived, they exiled him to the island of Patmos.

Some people think Domitian may also be the Beast, which is more likely than Nero, but is highly doubtful considerring John's Apocalypse is a prophecy of things to come, not something that happened during his lifetime. Plus Domitian ended up being shanked in a place no man wants to be stabbed, and so, he died. Add to that the fact none of the very mind-blowing prophecies that precede the Beast came to pass during the reign of Domitian (7 Seals, 7 Trumpets, etc.)

So it would seem to me the only logical conclusion is the Revelation prophecy is still yet to happen and observing the other Bible prophecies that are to precede the End of Days, it seems not too far away either.
