Progressive liberalism has NOT been kind to African-Americans as a whole. It would be difficult to find a more broken, dysfunctional, crime-ridden, poor performing demographic in America today than the African-American one.
A study conducted by the O
rganization for Economic Cooperation and Development found that 72 percent of black children in the U.S. are raised by a single parent. Before Lyndon Johnson, about 70 percent of black children were born into a functioning nuclear family where both parents were married to each other.
The overall U.S. murder rate has been falling in recent years, but it is rising among blacks. Blacks constitute just under 14% of the population but commit murder at 7 to 8 times the
white rate. In 1960, the rate of incarceration for black males per 100,000 was 1,313; by 2010, it had soared to 4,347 (see
here).
And this is occurring despite the median black family income rising 80%, after being adjusted for inflation, since 1963 in a socio-political environment which as the influential criminal legal scholar
William J. Stuntz pointed out:
“High rates of black violence in the late twentieth century are a matter of historical fact, not bigoted imagination,” wrote Mr. Stuntz. “The trends reached their peak not in the land of Jim Crow but in the more civilized North, and not in the age of segrega­tion but in the decades that saw the rise of civil rights for African Americans — and of African American control of city governments.”
In other words, liberals want to blame these outcomes on racial animus and “the system” but blacks have long been part of running that system. Black crime and incarceration rates spiked in the 1970s and ’80s in cities such as Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Washington
under black mayors and black police chiefs. Some of the most violent cities in the United States today are run by blacks.
Black people are not shooting each other at these alarming rates in Chicago and other urban areas because of our gun laws or our drug laws or a criminal justice system that has it in for them. The problem is primarily cultural — self-destructive behaviors and attitudes all too common among the black underclass. The problem is black criminal behavior, which is one manifestation of a black pathology that ultimately stems from the breakdown of the black family and loss of God's normative morality. Liberals want to talk about what others should do for blacks instead of what blacks should do for themselves.
And they're going to have to in a couple of decades because the rapidly rising annual interest payments on the national debt that have to be paid out each year are going to seriously impact blacks in America (and everyone else that relies on government) as they severely cut into government programs.
It will be interesting to see if they adjust to that in a positive or negative way. Will black communities become the most poverty ridden dangerous gangland war zones, no different than Liberia, IN the U.S.?
There is a biblical principle called forgiveness.
Unfortunately fiorgiveness and victimhood are not compatible.
Forgive and stop being victims, take life on your own terms and stop blaming others, as many african americans have, and guess what?
Ya stop being a liberal bigot.
