Jason: you are not seeing anything of the depths of the teaching by your Creator in this story, but insisting that you see clearly everything there is about it. Then you are taking it upon yourself to teach everyone, even those who are babies in Christ, that you are the only person in the world who sees this correctly. What is even more against you is that you are adding actual truths from the word as a "proof" that you know all and with that knowledge you can judge and condemn others.

By doing this, according to scripture it would be : Luk_17:2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to stumble.

Scripture also teaches against your position in this: Mat_7:3 Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye but don't notice the log in your own eye?

I realize you feel so convinced in your own mind that you know all through Christ and need not learn anything more, and I agree you know a lot. You have many truths you bring out. But so do demons know a lot, and many even heal in the Lord's name. But you do need to take one more step in learning before you decide the Lord is finished with you so well you can set yourself up to the world as understanding every depth of the word of the Lord.
And your teaching (which is not based upon an interpretation) is not leading people astray?

Do you believe God can do evil?

That is what I believe you are teaching adults and children, which is evil and wrong.

i believe God can & does do things that may appear evil to our oh-so-limited human understanding.

but no evil is found in Him.

For if you teach that God at one point in time can do evil by telling someone to marry an unbeliever who is still abiding in sin then it it is mot wrong for you to teach that you or any other believer can marry an unbelieving prostitute. Read 2 Corinthians chapter 6. It says we are not to have fellowship with unbelievers. Yes, we can be around sinners so as to evangelize them, but we are not create bonds with them as if they are good buddies or life partners.

where do you get the idea that Gomer is an unbeliever?
is that recorded in the book?

do you know anyone but Jesus who is sinless?

God told me to take a homeless man into my house, feed him and clothe him and give him shelter and help.
should i have first insisted that he get a job and a home and bathe and put on clean clothes?
because i didn't ask him to do any of that. i obeyed the voice that spoke to my soul. did i sin?

Helping the poor, being a witness to your family, or to your co workers on the job site is different than having fellowship with unbelievers. Having fellowship with unbelievers is hanging out with them while they do sinful things and or doing worldly type things. It is bonding with them and being silent about their sin and rejection of Jesus Christ.

Again, I will ask folks here. Do you believe God would want you and or anyone else to marry a prostitute today?

For how can a practicing prostitute be a saved believer?

If a believer had backslidden in the faith in being a prostitute, they are not saved and they need to renew their faith in Jesus Christ. For nobody is saved if they don't repent.

That's why God didn't tell God to marry a prostitute.

First thing one must do is understand GOD's ways are not our way so how you are interpreting this is wrong. GOD is a jealous GOD, at this time GOD was making a statement for Israel by having Hosea marry a prostitute showed them in the natural what they were doing. When the women gave birthed notice GOD also made sure to give the child a name showing that HE would not have Mercy on them. Best way to truly have understanding of the scriptures is to pray first prior to reading and ask GOD to give Revelation.
Hos 1:2 The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.
Hos 1:3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.
Hos 1:4 And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.
Hos 1:5 And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.
Hos 1:6 And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.
Hos 1:7 But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.
Hos 1:8 Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son
Hos 1:9 Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.

Pray this helps,
Blessings!!!!!!!

wife of whordoms meaning those who are not loyal to one. GOD was showing Israel that they were like the people who went whoring around they were not loyal, committed, honoring the marriage union with GOD. Thought you might need further understanding. :")

i believe this shows that God in fact told Hosea to marry a prostitute or otherwise promiscuous woman.

i don't perceive a cause to second-guess the Lord on the matter.
i think that if we accept it as it is written, it is a shocking thing - and has a great message both for us and for the people who lived during Hosea's time alike.

iirc Jonah wasn't too keen on the idea of God sending him to Ninevah, and the early Jewish believers were incredulous at the idea of Gentiles having the Holy Spirit poured out on them, even those who had no so much as been baptized!
wasn't it crazy how Jesus sat and talked to a Samaritan women of ill repute, revealing to her Himself and accepting a drink of water from her? that He ate with sinners and touched lepers? that He healed on the sabbath day?

nuts how He took Israel as His own, an adulterous people who went right back to their idolatry as soon as it caught their eye!!

can you believe how gracious this God is?? truly, there is no one like Him!!

For what fellowship does light have with darkness?

In fact, marriage is a picture of God's relationship to man or Jesus Christ's relationship with the church. How can God be married to unbelievers?

This is inevitability said on this topic when someone does not know how to explain what appears to be a supposed contradiction in either His Word and or when tbey can't explain the actions of God. I mean, I get it, Faith is important to have, but God doesn't ask us to have an illogical faith that compromises basic morality.

This is what someone does when they have a false doctrine or belief about a particular truth in the Bible. For example, someone who doesn't believe in the Trinity will only read or look at those portions of the text they prefer while ignoring others. See, when you quote the text, you are extra careful not to mention the part that gives us the reason why Gomer is called a wife of whoredom (idolatry). For the latter half of Hosea 1:2 gives us the reason by saying, "for the land (people) has committed great whoredom, departing from the Lord." Now it is reasonable to assume that the people of the land were not all prostitutes but idolaters.

None of these were examples of believers hanging out with sinful people while they did their sinful things. All these were examples of evangelism and leading people to repentance. It is an illusion if you believe God wants His people to hang out with unbelievers when they are practicing sin and us being silent about their evil as we pat them on the back.

no, but all of them demonstrate that He does things that run quite contrary to human expectation, and that He reaches out to those whom the religious elite shun and despise. that His mercy is greater than human mercy, and His purposes beyond ours, His compassion and grace deeper than we can imagine.

i think that's what we see here in Hosea, in addition to the grand metaphor and sign relating to God's relationship with Israel that it demonstrates.

Unless Gomer repented of her life of prostitution before they married, there would have been no grace or forgiveness. But I don't believe that was the case, though. I believe she became a prostitute after they were married.

Not what my Bible says.
Not what your Bible says either.

Obviously God can tell people to do whatever He wants,
and whatever it is, it is not a sin in that instance,
because God makes right and wrong,
and God is never wrong.

What do you say about God telling the Israelites to kill innocent women and children in Canaan?
Do you question God's morality on that issue?

Don't question God. "He is not a tame Lion", nor does He reside on our plane of morality.

He does not need to abide by the rules He sets for us.
Do you think He stopped working EVERY Saturday after He gave the 10 Commandments? or just the one after Creation?
Does God tell us to not be jealous, yet tells us He is a jealous God?
Doesn't God tell us to avoid wrath and violence, and yet He has promised to pour out a violent Wrath upon the whole world?
Doesn't God tell us to not judge, yet He is the Supreme Judge, and will judge ALL.
All these are sin for man, but not for God.

It is a sin to kill an man,
but if God tells a prophet to, then it is righteous to follow.
If God commands it, it is not sin, regardless of what your finite mind holds as sin.

God is not in your box.
He commands what He commands,
and does what He does,
and you would be a fool to question Him.

I mean, I get where folks are coming from. You can read Hosea 1:2 in one of two ways. One way is to read it as Gomer being a one woman among a people of idolatry. The other way to read this verse is it being prophetic (in what she was going to do at some point in the future while they were already married). She was going to be a wife of whoredoms when she later cheats on Hosea by being a prostitute).

Ah ha. You got me! So God arranged a marriage where He knew this women was going to be unfaithful. Does that mean God was not good in Him knowing this? No. Of course not. Gomer's life did not end with her rebelling against Hosea. It ended up in Hosea buying her out of slavery and him learning how to forgive, love, and take care of her. For if she spat on Hosea the rest of her life, that would be a different matter. But God is wise and God is good and always does things so as to teach us in how to appreciate Him, and His love. Gomer's life helped Hosea to see that.

No. God is never going to tell you to do something evil. You know how many quacks have murdered or took advantage of young girls in God's name? See, you can tell the real God from a false spirit by the type of fruits that it bears. God can only do good. False spirits will at some point bring forth bad fruit. For false spirits influence false prophets. And Jesus speaks about how we will know them by their fruits. For a good tree cannot bring forth bad fruit and vise versa.
