At church yesterday we were praying for the Christians around the world who are being tortured, murdered and chased out of their homes, when a normally quiet, elderly lady spoke up and said, "I pray for every terrorist and Muslim. May they find the joy that I have had in Jesus Christ, amen". I thought about Matthew 5:44. I don't think that Jesus was telling us to be passive here, I think that he was telling us how to be proactive.

I suppose her heart was in the right place...even if the head wasn't. If someone was breaking into my house with the intent of harming my family...

a. It's obvious they're not there to witness or spread the gospel.
b. They've made a very bad decision.
c. They want to find themselves at the wrong end of a 20 gauge.

I think that a burglar would find himself at the same place in her house too.

We send missionaries into many of these countries, and there are many Christians that live in them. What would happen if God intervened, and the enemy turned to Christ? Jesus told us what to do. He tells us how here.

I like that verse especially in conjunction with the unborn in danger of slaughter.

This is something I really think people fail to do. There is so much more to any situation that what labels can illustrate. People like to generalize and simplify, create a case and then give a sentence to a particular party, but everything is an interdependent mish-mash of individual consciousnesses, decisions, circumstances, outlooks, perspectives, emotions and situations, and it's so, so, so much more complex than people care to investigate or bother to think about.

Muhammad died in 632 leaving a split amongst Muslims as to who would succeed him and settle their disagreement over the interpretation of five pillars of Islam. These two groups (e.g. shia and sunni) have been at war, in one way or another, since the First Muslim Civil War (e.g. First Fitna) which began in 656 CE and presently are today in Syria, Iraq, etc...

But the actual root cause, if you want to talk about root causes, is that both groups are deceived adhering to a violent false religious cult fabricated by a false prophet.

The solution to THAT problem, of course, is only found in a new birth and right relationship with Jesus Christ the living savior in His kingdom... something they presently reject.

So you two can stop cosigning each other's nonsense. If the U.S. had never existed, these people would still be warring with each other as they currently are.

How about ''as the Church watches''?

I have visited about 4 different churches since this ISIS thing mushroomed into wholesale slaughtering of Christians....Silence.
No mention of it in the congegational prayer on Sun., no mention of it in their bulletins., no mention from the pulpit.
These are our brothers and sisters and yet...Silence.

Well, maybe we are just watching.

For those who say... or think... that it couldn't possibly happen here... surely, not to us... Maybe that is what they thought awhile ago as well?... the media is all but silent about it even though they are aware... maybe it's to avoid flaring up tensions? The US Gov't mention targeting ISIS...but not the reason for it. I agree with Crossnote... not much mention of it on the "church" or "religious" stations either. The church is either ignorant about what's happening... or we're ignoring it. To even consider that it couldn't happen here is ignorant.

We're more concerned about Ferguson... so is our illustrious leader.

Oh I agree and believe it will happen here as I believe the fall of the U.S. will allow the sweep of Europe and the world by Islam and the 12 IMAM aka Anti-Christ so called!
