Got a problem with Paul?
He was Jesus' chosen vessel to the gentiles...

Acts 16:31 And they (Paul and Silas) said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

That's as simple as it gets. :)

wow... so if I just believe then my whole house will be saved ? AND ME ???
Wait, didnt James say we are justified by our works, and NOT BY FAITH ALONE ?
Isnt that kinda what Jesus said too ?

You know common sense and deductive reasoning speaks volumes here....

1. If baptism, church membership, works etc. were required for salvation then they would be added to every verse by GOD dia the men he inspired.
2. If one above is true there would never be ANY stand alone verses like the one you quoted which teach simple faith.

Just to reason the above two will point to the obvious truths

1. BOTH lines of thought cannot be correct I.E> FAITH only or faith PLUS something
2. GOD gave stand alone verses that teach SIMPLE faith
3. The scriptures twisted to teach ADDITIONS to JESUS are incorrectly viewed and twisted to add to JESUS
4. The scriptures twisted to teach additions to Jesus for salvation are taken out of context while OBVIOUS stand alone statements are rejected in favor of religion and works which the LOST Pharisees believed and taught!

Again you fail to recognize CONTEXT....

ROMANS-----> men justified before GOD by FAITH<---BY PAUL who wrote like 12 more BOOKS than JAMES
JAMES------->The claimed faith of a man justified before MEN by WORKS

SHOW ME YOUR FAITH!

You know, you would learn so much if you would just start paying attention to CONTEXT!

For something so simple it has become so controversial. God's grace is simple. God's grace is complete. Received by faith in Christ created by the hearing of God's word.

Believing is not a work. Believing is not possible apart from hearing God's word so it is God working in you not you working for God.

Simplicity in Christ is childlike believing what God has spoken in His word about His only begotten Son.

Wait... so your saying the "work" of the Father that Jesus said we must DO to enter the Kingdom is to believe ? So Believing IS a work after all ?
But then you say faith is a gift... ( which I agree with ), but you contradict yourself.

Jesus says WE MUST DO the will of the father, and your saying, " no Jesus, we cant "DO" the will of Him, because it just means faith and that is a gift"... Stop disagreeing with Christ.

Your twisting my words and the words of the bible......

The Pharisees taught works of the LAW......You fail to understand the depth of what Jesus said......

There is no WORK of the LAW that can save.....as IT IS FAITH! and that is what is implied by the LORD!

Without FAITH it is IMPOSSIBLE to please GOD
NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUS WHICH WE HAVE DONE
NOT OF WORKS LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST
IF YOU BELIEVE WITH ALL YOUR MIND
WHOSEVER BELIEVES
I BELIEVE YOU ARE<----SAID PETER

I see... I see you ( like Luther ) have a huge problem with James... who said we are justified by works, and not by faith alone. Go ahead and tear the pages of James out... and most of the teachings of Christ.

Jesus was simply using their terms of 'work' when they asked Him what 'work' must we do?
Jesus took the same word and defined it by 'believe'.

John 6:28-29 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

It really isn't that hard.

Who brought up Luther? Now you are talking like a Roman Catholic apologist. Are you Roman Catholic?

I have no problem with JAMES and you are blind to SHOW ME YOUR FAITH...HOW CAN YOU SEE JAMES INWARD SAVING FAITH...BY HIS OUTWARD WORKS WHICH IS EVIDENCE to HIS INWARD FAITH....and HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SALVATION

DUDE..I am being NICE and I will TELL YOU when YOU COMPARE me to a LUTHER.....I CAME close to being banned by what I wanted to say.....

NOW...it is you who is trusting in works....good luck with that as YOU WILL fit the category ABOVE MANY will brag on their works.......!

James cannot contradict any other part of the bible. Your understanding of James is placing him in contradiction with Paul. James and Paul both wrote under Holy Spirit guidance so there can be no conflict. James is saying that a living faith received by hearing Gods word produces evidence in the form of works. Paul stated the same thing in Eph 2:10 when you understand that works flow out and not into salvation you will see the harmony between James and Paul.

Works of the law do not save anybody as most people do this for personal gain.

The Pharisees used the law for personal gain and power. Corrupting the word of God.

Works done out of love for our Lord do matter. That would be abiding in Him and what He taught.

Lord Jesus taught the apostles what they must do to see the kingdom of heaven, and He did not just say simply believe.
Then He commissioned them to go out and teach the rest of us what they were taught.

His teachings were for how we are to walk under the new covenant made by His own blood. He says those who do not do what He said are not truly His for they do not abide in His will.

He says the one who does the will of Father, there are many scriptures that talk about what the will of God is.

I find it interesting when people say that "believing" is everything. Jesus say's the sheep follow the shepherd. He said "pick up your cross and follow me daily" what if "believing on Christ" meant "trusting everything He taught" and not only believing He is the Son of God- what if it doesn't stop there?

Here is what I believe. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. I believe that His blood alone cleanses us from sin. I believe that Jesus is my Deliverer and through prayer and trust He delivers us from the powers of sin. I believe that when Jesus speaks we should follow. I believe that there are entities that believe Jesus is the Christ and they still don't want to follow him, and those entities are not children of God.

I never said James contradicted other scripture... it contradicts your theology.
Nor has anything in this thread been about works of the law...
No, Im not roman catholic...
Off to work... God bless

This is a very simple statement, and could be very Biblical, depending on how you explain, what Jesus "has already done for me.". If you explain it like dcontroversal, you are very confused ,; But if you explain it like Iam3rd does, you are very much guided by the Holy Spirit of God. Love to all, Hoffco

Well sir, when it comes to justification apart from works you seem to have a Roman Catholic view.

Romans 3:26-28 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

You'd be surprised how many Evangelicals are actually Roman Catholics when it comes to justification apart from works of the law.

Please bro. decontroversal, You once were a good "Dude", now you have turned into a wicked, condemning, hateful "Dude"; What happened to you? Love you, Hoffco
