it certainly isn't going to help solve the conflict when palestinian pastors who undoubtedly know better make blatantly false statements like this one...

well it's understandable that american christian zionists should know more about the situation than a palestinian christian. he's been too concerned with israeli settlements moving in on him, checkpoints that restrict imports and travel, and a navel blockade (along with worrying about idf troops bulldozing his house if a 2nd cousin happens to be a hamas member.) he probably isn't keeping up with the news.
There are no Israeli settlements moving in on him in Gaza, all Jews were pulled out from Gaza and the people of Gaza given self rule.
Further the Christians are also being persecuted by Muslims in Gaza and West Bank. Bethlehem has been ethnically cleansed of Christians.
The Christians coming out with lies such as "Israel occupation of Gaza" are proberbly saying those under threat of death. As a Christiain living in a near 100% Islamic population where psychotic killers and members of terrorist groups walk free and where suicide bombers have statues and public shrines made to celebrate thier death and the number of Jews they killed and run by what is still a terrorist organisation, Hamas, do you really think that a Christian priest would be alive for very long if they were to support Israel?
Also take into account that Hamas recently took out Nazi style street executions where they just rounded up people suspected, just suspected of, not found guilty of siding with Israel and shot them without any trial or defence.
I recently came across an article by a Jewish man born in America who moved to Israel, just outside Gaza, and he wrote about the blockades and such, saying that, for instance, one day he witnessed a new blockade put up, and Palestinian children were on their way to join their Israeli counterparts at a school in the region, and the soldiers actually shot one of the Palestinian children who tried to climb over the blockade. He was basically saying the same things, 'Westerners don't understand it, because they aren't here'. He spoke about the Israeli peoples' position, and many of them, he said to my surprise, didn't support the occupations of Palestine territories, thought the conflict was pointless.
The man said that the difference in provisions and quality of life in a matter of kilometres was just shocking; with Palestinians electricity only working for a few hours a day, their water rations being much less that of Israel and with the blockade of much food and the regulation of amenities by Israel.
It's technically true that Gaza isn't being occupied by Israel, but for all intents and purposes, they do control the majority of what goes in and out of the territory.

Gaza could have a couple of power stations of its own, it could have built these, Gaza could also have free hospital beds for every person in Gaza with all the latest technology and scientific advances in the world, instead of having to rely in Israel providing specialist care.
Gaza could also have knocked down all the slums, and rebuilt Gaza City and given everyone the refugee camps and out laying villiages and towns a brand new house with all mod cons, which would be provided for by free electricity from its power stations.
BUt no Gaza is deliberately kept in poor sate of repair as propaganda exercise, so people like you will hate on Israel even more and go "oh poor Palestinians" and shed crocodile tears over the people who live in poverty, when instead you should be directing all the criticism on the leaders of Palestine Authority and the current rulers over Gaza, Hamas.
Hundreds of trucks of supplies go into Gaza every week from Israel. Millions of dollars get given to the PA and Hamas to run and provide for the people, but what do they do with it all?
Build tunnels and buy weapons to kill Jews and destroy Israel, not to mention a tidy sum goes into private bank accounts.

Could have. Israel could have given back Palestine all the land they occupy. But they didn't. Could haves are worthless pieces of the past, where no person resides at this present moment. Could haves mean nothing.
Oh dear you sure do have it in for Israel, the situation in Gaza is entirly the doing of Hamas and Palestinian Authority and has nothing to do with Israel.
You do realise that you are supporting the genocide of the Jews and destruction of Israel by asking to give back all occupied land, when the Arabs and Muslims bring up occupied land this is what they are talking about, but they allow ignorant westerners to justg think it means going back to some earlier border and give back west bank , when it is not.
So go on, give us your thoughts that Gaza should be one of the best places on earth to live, but thanks to the embezzlement of aid money and using construction materials to build tunnels and fund terrorism, the civilians are not even given the materials or means to rebuild thier homes, that is the Palestinians leaders fault and has nothing to do with Israel.
I generally don't forget a person I meet, but in your case I think I'll make an exception.

Regardless of whether you thought that or not, the country who had war declared on them has the right to do whatever is necessary to protect themselves and their citizens. IMO. In fact, it is a govt's responsibility to protect its citizens.

Most sane people know this. I lost count number of demos with white Westerners chanting "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free", which of course is the chant and demand of just about every Arab and Muslim ,they want to see the death of Israel and this chant broadcasts that fact.
THe propaganda machine has been running for many decades to slowly bring about the world into thinking Israel is evil and Palestinians have had thier land robbed, they fool people into thinking the stolen land is just a few chunks of land, but the chants and the rest of the hate and education tell that the whole of Israel is the stolen land they speak of, not just West Bank.
Remember, the Arab nations all cut their noses of to spite their faces, they could not even bring themselves to even think about letting Jews have a nation, they hated the Jews that much, they would rather deny Palestinians a state of their own in a 2 state solution, they wrongly thought that by rejecting the 2 state solution, the Jews would not get their own state, how wrong they were.
So I ask again, where has the aid money gone to? Where has the millions of tons of cement, concrete and building supplies legally sent into Gaza gone to? Oh thats right, on tunnels to attack Jews in Israel. Each tunnel cost about $3million to build, imagine what a ruling government could have done for its population instead of using it to wage war against Israel.

One of which was to attack an aid convoy of about 90 trucks bringing medical supplies food and water into Gaza. Think of all those hospitals stuffed full of equipment, does not anger people as much as seeing empty store rooms.
I take it a step further....there hasn't ever been an Israeli occupation ever as the land rightfully belongs to them....God given!
