"will God understand...?"
"In order to answer this question, we first need to distinguish between punishment and discipline. For believers in Jesus, all our sin—past, present, and future—has already been punished on the cross. As Christians, we will never be punished for sin. That was done once for all. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). Because of the sacrifice of Christ, God sees only the righteousness of Christ when He looks at us. Our sin has been nailed to the cross with Jesus, and we will never be punished for it.

I won't elaborate on this because this will be another lengthy discussion that does not belong here. If anybody wants to know more about this they can read the many threads about it.
This is just a warning unless someone reads it and believes it....
To the OP's question and everyone else who really wants to know how to overcome it:
Just to make this short, there is a lot on the internet to research this. Sin opens the door for demonic influences that's why it is addictive. In order to get rid of an addiction has to be delivered from it in Jesus ' name. One first of all has to repent for the sin to God, then renounce that addiction and cut it off, like destroying the legal right of the enemy to torment you with it. Then this demonic force has to be cast out. Only then the torment of it will stop. After that one needs to stay away from it and/or make life changes to avoid certain situations and also to renew their mind...
Unless you get rid of the enemy that torments you, you won't experience real freedom, even if you tried through prayer and discipline overcome it somewhat, most of the time and in an opportune time it will rear it's ugly head again and trigger things in you that pulls you right back in.
