I posted this video in a the forum titled. and I don't want to depress you, but I posted this video in hope to urge you or to prompt you people to pray for the children of Syria or perhaps just add a prayer to your prayer list. Instead all I got was heartless and thoughtless comment back, Now I know this is CC and its a home for people with heartless and thoughtless comments. Sorry to say but its true.

In the video below, you will see children singing of there despair, there anger and hurt and cry.
Are we that heartless to say that this is tacky, and a pointless way to make a point? They are Children for crying out loud. what else and how else can they cry out for help, and why not make a video? why not make a point this way? for someone to say its a tacky way to make a point. Well that to me, is just heartless, and thoughtless. We are called to pray, we are called to encourage one another.

It's very sad when the innocent suffer. Prayers for all those children.

Just the still capture breaks my heart and I don't want to depress my day by watching the whole thing. I've held the people in Syria in my prayers for a long time. I shall continue to do so.

Anything wrong, praying for children in Syria? Are we so corrupt we're down to having to even question this? My Bible says God is love, and we are commanded to love, many places.

I will then join a prayer for children in Syria, and a continual prayer of mine is helping the Christians of the Middle East and other places persecuted, which I'd ask others also pray for God's mercy and protection of, please. Perhaps we should pause to think how it would be if this were our land and families, how careless we'd feel then.

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Galatians 5:13-14 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

1 John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Something similar was another thread, involving poverty, hunger, where it was asked what a good charity is. One of the comments was, to the effect, "Well, money can't do anything to solve the problem of the poor." The simple question was even ignored. Tell a sick, starving child, with no shoes, money can't help. I wish some people would avoid telling others they're Christians, just for the sake of the Lord.

there is nothing wrong with praying for the people of syria. It doesnt make the video untacky though.

My prayer is for them to know Jesus and to stay strong in the Lord thru this challenging time. I hope that their physical needs are met, but my higher hope is that their spiritual needs are met first whereby then God will provide for them. For seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. But yes. I will pray for these children who are suffering. My heart goes out to them. But I realize that God is in control, though. I may not be able to see the tapestry of life; But I understand that God is sovereign over all things. I realize the poor will always be among us as Jesus said. Why? Well, I imagine one of the reasons is that God wants us to have compassion on those who are less fortunate. He wants us to love. To love those children who do not know Jesus and to help them in their suffering. My heart and my prayers will go out to them indeed.

Tacky? why is it tacky? Its sad and depressing but it makes me want to help them and pray for them

Agree.. There's absolutely nothing tacky about having compassion for people in great despair. What's tacky is having a president who's content to stand by and "study the problem" in-between his rounds of golf. We've also had 2 Americans decapitated, and its frustrating to see an extreme pacifist (Obama) try and decipher whether a response is in order.

Three cheers, which are my sentiments exactly! The Americans AND the foreign civilians are subjected to the most barbarous crimes against humanity that would make a serial killer look like a piker, at the hands of what is a criminal gang.

There is a just war that needs to be waged, a mega, criminal law enforcement matter. And, if on the streets, a policeman orders you to throw down your gun, and you don't, be prepared to meet your maker. If these horrid, wicked devils can't stay in their own back yards, then let them find there's no 72 virgins right away. It's nauseating they're not bombed every time they try to use the roads, and right out there in the open (!), to move on to the next town, to terrorize, to murder, rape and pillage like the worst of common criminals. Lastly, the nations who have the power to do something, and don't, are complicit in that evil.

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

I am blown away, perplexed and angry over what has been allowed to go on every day, ashamed of the leaders of the West. There's more lip service for you, human rights, uh huh...

Im noit saying having compassion or praying for them is tacky. I would actually encourage those two things. The music video concept is tacky.

tacky 1. Neglected and in a state of disrepair

2. a. Lacking style or good taste; tawdry: tacky clothes.
b. Distasteful or offensive; tasteless: a tacky remark.

The definition of tacky is nowhere in the video

The one thing that is wrong with the video is that these children are talking about a false god. At least that is what I gathered from watching the first few minutes of the video.

well for one i highly doubt these two children were that affected by the things in syria, they are probably actors. And forcibly trying to manipulate peoples emotions by making said video is the tacky part.

James 2:15-16
Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.
If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

(or, as i like to say, "I'll pray for you"...)

just a suggestion based on personal preference...
but Compassion International--sponsor a child. or two, or twelve.
and Voice of the Martyrs. you can 'sponsor' a pastor serving in dangerous areas of the world.

or just give.
:)

Also World Vision. They are Christian, with a good record of efficiently using funds, helping whole communities out of poverty when you sponsor children.
