To Cfultz3 , superMan9 ,hit the hail on its head, Please try to be a little less emotional and forgive me when you see me ,MAYBE, make a mistake. But the Confusion was on your part, my brother,. I know the good posts you have made and I "LIKED"; SO, why?? , I now see Why, ?? I think.?? you made the two statements, NOT that you teach them , I think you asked them to show someone the stupidity of them. Am I right? Love Hoffco
Now, Hoffco, try to behave yourself, if you don't want to get sent back to the SANCTIFICATION - What does it mean & How is it accomplished? thread... I also seem to remember you jerking me around about Cain, which I was barely Abel to take!

It is hard not to be less emotional when someone suddenly turns on you and falsely accuse you of speaking falsehood and try to push it under the rug by implying it was MAYBE a mistake and really did not apologize.

One post confused you out of all those other posts?

Why? Read the first statement.

It has nothing to do with that question, it has to do with you suddenly claiming I am preaching a lie although you know I do not preach mere faith and you not being man enough to admit your error, less alone, seeking forgiveness for your offense towards another brother.

Confusion was throwing out everything I have previously said and concluding me to be false just by that one post.

It was hilarious. He was one time contradicting me, couldn't quite see what he was complaining over, but, clearly, I was out in left field on something, I forget what it was. He finally says something like he didn't know anything about what we were talking about and he was just having fun. But his honesty was charming, when he finally came clean, anyway...

Right, HOFFCO?!

Let's see. There are five in-laws, "living with us" says Hoffco, meaning maybe one more unknown. So, there's somebody unknown, five in-laws, and one outlaw? LOL!

God is sooo good, most of the time; at other time ,I wonder where He is, when I need Him most. I guess He was carrying me in His arms, truing to put His hand over my big mouth, I never seem to learn the appropriate thing to say at the moment. Love Hoffco

That's alright, Hoffco. You just keep putting both feet on the floor, by the Lord's tender mercies, and everybody will be happy. It's no big deal, I mean, I just know what to expect now. Ran out of old Twilight Zone episodes to watch, anyway.

Yes, for anybody believing we have spirits as the Bible states, that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, we have something that lives on, apart from the Holy Spirit, which is God.

Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The Antichrist is the man of sin, a man. He is unregenerate and has something that lives on, that goes on in torment, despite the lake of fire.

Then there's the parable of Lazarus and the rich man of Luke 16, our Lord never making illustrations or teaching parables not of complete, even striking, analogy to truth, which would, otherwise, foster false doctrine.

So these things should be very sobering to anybody, when also taking into account the Lord Jesus telling us to pluck out an eye, cut off a hand, anything but be cast into hell.

And the biographical story of Lazarus and the Rich Man, is a real story, because He named Lazarus and everyone, the way He told it, obviously knew who Lazarus was. He NEVER named a single character in His parables, and Mal. 3:6 tells us that the LORD does not change. So why did He not name the Rich Man? I suspect it was because some or all of the Rich Man's brothers were in the Crowd listening to Him that day.

When I run into people who think the soul and the spirit are the same thing, I take them to these verses:

Hebrews 4:12 (ESV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Zechariah 12:1 (ESV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] The oracle of the word of the LORD concerning Israel: Thus declares the LORD, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth and formed the spirit of man within him:

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (ESV)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

AND OF COURSE:

John 3:5-7 (ESV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
[SUP]6 [/SUP] That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit
is spirit.
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

Salvation is centered around faith.
Salvation is the result of faith only.
What is the difference between these two statements?

Salvation is centered around faith. (Faith is the nucleus. Without faith, there would be no orbiting electrons (salvation))

vs.

Salvation is the result of faith only.
(Basic and to the point)
So you noticed that?
I noticed the asserting spirit of correction and lost the meaning of the message.
So did I over estimate you in thinking that you noticed the first statement
had left wiggle room to slip something else in regarding salvation, like works,
and in so doing, was not affirming salvation by faith only?

While the second statement clearly affirmed it without any wiggle room.

What I am saying? I was saying, 'What is the difference between these two statements'? Basically, I was asking for an answer as to what, if any, is the difference between them. I am sorry for the complication of that request. Allow me to rephrase,
Can anyone see error within one or both of the statements OR do they say the same thing?
Yes there is error, they do not say the same thing, as addressed in post #115, immediately above.

"To be or not to be?" "I am", so I must say, "I be". I never had a question of my being. I often have the desire not to be here, I would rather be in Heaven with my LORD.! This life is not for the weak, but when I am weak ,the LORD can make me very bold to preach His truth. this past wk. end was good. We had good fellowship, with the trouble-maker gone. To Jesusisall, I assumed people would understand that the other one of "us" would naturally be my wife, but your joke is OK, and not so far from the truth. LOL.! Pray for "us" our relationship, to be more as God would want it. I don't put up with insubordinatence, in my marriage or in my church. I am 71 and she is 45, never married and always the boss in her family. But I am told this is very common in Philippine wives. Love to all, Hoffco

Now it's my turn after cfultz3 ;)
So Just me says..........................
So where are we edified by this subtle correction? Let's see. We are "saved through faith." right?
Luke 7:50b "Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace."
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

So we see, without faith there can be no salvation. So faith is the basis and salvation then is the result of faith.
I see profound waste of screen time. Doowadidididumdiddo! LOL
It's not your bad cfulz3. You're good

To Cfultz3, SOO. What ,in the world are you saying? it is as clear as MUD>!
I say" SAlvation is based on God's GRACE ,not our faith. What you are saying, is the "faith alone heresy
"
When we receive a spiritual gift, it is for a purpose and the gift doesn't come form ourselves.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

His grace has given us faith to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and to be saved.

Acts 15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved , even as they.

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

So the grace of God comes and offers to us the gift of faith. It's His grace toward us so we can receive faith. If we don't accept the faith God still has grace, leaving us without salvation. No grace no faith. I really don't think this needs to be a debate among people that already know how it works.
