i come from a place where fields of lavender delight all the senses
i come from a place where i am never alone
i come from a place where barbed wire stretches for miles, and livestock peacefully graze
i come from a place where the air is crisp and the powdered sugar snow is so white that it lights up the darkest night
i come from a place where the dirt is so red that it sets the rocks afire
i come from a place where the skyline is magnificent with colorful lights and steel, proud and flinty
i come from the highway, the dirt road, the gravel path and the crooked back roads
i come from a place where only thing i can hear are the creaking noises of swaying branches
i come from a place where i can hear many native tongues spoken at any given time
i come from a place where i am never seperated from the reach or love of my Creator

I'm from Tennessee, born, raised and will probably die here in Tennessee eventually.

Tennessee is about the best place on the continent to live.
We are too far north for Florida summers.
We are too far south for Minnesota winters.
We are too far inland to get hurricanes.
We are too far from the east and west coast to get their big city smog. Clean air is a wonderful thing!
We don't even know what the word "drought" is.
And we still have a Wal-Mart less than half an hour from almost everywhere.
Life is good here.

jennymae: Alabama would be almost as good - almost - if it weren't on the coast, where the hurricanes come ashore. Alabama serves as a good shield to keep the hurricanes from getting to us though.

while i did live in the greater DFW area briefly, no, i am not referring to texas. or even a single area. that post represented many different places, some quite different/far from one another. : )
in fact, i can't think of a single place (that i'm familiar with) that could be represented by all of those descriptions.
i think of myself as "from" a lot of places.
