Could the Islamic State actually be leading to religious freedom for Christians in the Middle East?

John Kerry is trying to build a coalition to fight ISIS. One member he's trying to convince is Saudi Arabia.

Saudia Arabia has a habit of arresting Christians. John Kerry is being pressured to discuss this with Saudi Arabia.

Saudi anti-Christian sweep prompts calls for US involvement | Fox News

Secretary of State John Kerry is slated to visit Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to marshal support to combat the radical Islamic State terror organization. It was unclear if Kerry plans to raise the arrests of the Christians. On Tuesday, State Department spokeswoman Jen Pskai said she was not aware of the arrests, but pledged to look into the reports.

ISIS is obviously persecuting Christians, and that's a reason a coalition will be coming against them. It would be super hypocritical if one of the coalition members also harasses Christians. So as a way to be congruent with their stance against ISIS, some of these Middle East countries may be forced to give religious freedom to Christians.
 
The problem with ISIS in the eyes of Islam is that they are considered radicals in Islam doing things that even Moslems are prohibited to do in the Quran. With the Christians, I'm pretty sure a few sects of Islam do not care what happens to them. The issue is the damage being done to other Muslims.

unfortunately this would be a total departure from the united states' longstanding record in our dealings with saudi arabia...

what is more likely and more in keeping with history is that our government will continue to ignore what goes on inside saudi arabia as long as the house of saud continues to help us outside saudi arabia...

ISIS is not an embarrassment to muslims other than being more forthright than the majority of muslims.
 
Surrounding nations and global powers will make temporary changes in an effort to quell the disruption caused by ISIS. I wouldn't hold my breath for lasting freedom of any sort in that portion of Asia.
 
I doubt the ultra radical Wahhabis care what the Sunnis and Shias are doing to each other, let alone to Christians. The Saudis funded Bin Laden. Like they care about Christians.

It's comparable to fights within the Communist Party in the early Soviet Union. Some men within that overarching system of belief (Sunni Islam) radically differ from one another to the point that they will kill each other off. At the end of the day, their fundamental orientation toward the principle enemy state and those who practice the faith of those historical rivals will not change.

The best course of action at that point is to make that potentially respect your power either through making them beholden to you or live in total fear of your retribution.

At present, we remain unwilling to do this.

Guess what SonInMe. Hope for reform in the Moslem world depends on one thing: LIBERAL MOSLEMS!!

In fact what we are all fighting is political and religous conservatives!!

When you go to bed at night, I want you to: "Our hope is with the Liberals.. Our hope is with the Liberals!"

Out of any ordinary Muslim who insists that there needs to be equality (while screaming Islamophobe, mind you), I've yet to encounter one that even focused on the issues these "radical Muslims" have been doing throughout the world while they focus on their victim mentality. If they've been questioned, they sure know how to hide it and still scream Islamophobe when being spoken against.

So, really... Are there actual 'liberal Muslims' that give a damn about non-Muslims freedom? Have any idea as to why they don't speak up?

That is correct they all share in the same view if they are true Islam. If they don't support what ISIS do then they need to reconsider to join the winning team - Jesus is GOD and is the 2nd Person of the GOD HEAD bodily of the Holy Trinity.

Ask every single muslim what does Apostasy in Islam mean? It is the most vile religion in the world. Can only pray for them.

If progressives really cared about the right things (like ending human slavery instead of fabricating flawed propaganda from pieces of it to accomplish a political agenda and pushing homosexuality on little children), they would take a hard look at the Muslim world both inside and outside of their countries. But of course, they don’t. Instead, they use the government to jail you if you tell the truth in far left countries. You're not allowed to tell the truth where liberals have authoritarian power. You can only parrot their propaganda, be silent, or go to jail for telling the truth. Those are the only three choices the left offers.
