I'm not Catholic, but some of the best Christians I've met were Catholic. Then there are Christians who are so heavenly minded they're no earthly good. Hopefully those people will wake up before they pray themselves into hell.

I asked a brother once to help me with moving a senior in our congregation. He told me he had to pray about it first. You don't want to know what my response was, but he did apologize. He could take correction.

There are two ways to understand pacifism.
One means to reject using aggressive violence against another one who so far remained non-violent. But reserves the right of self-defence, both passive and offensive, on behalf of oneself or other ones depending on one's own help.
The other is to not act at all, even if that means that innocent ones gets slaughtered or become subject of atrocities, because one claims moral superiority by allowing the attacker to commit such atrocities without "lowering oneself to his levels". That is a shame, an offence, a disgrace. However you can chose this one without compromsing your morality only if it is your own life and well-being at risk, and nobody else's. Unless you're a hermit living in a cave one choosing this should think long and hard how their decision will affect others.
The first is someone like me. The latter is somebody who by arguing that he is a "pacifist" actively helps to create the opportunity for crime and atrocity being carried out, he does so by his passivity, and he arrogantly claims moral superiority.

Jason, the fact remains that if an innocent is about to be murdered right before your eyes, you don't know who was saved and who wasn't. You didn't make this man do these things, and the innocents didn't make him do those things. This man is choosing to live by the sword, it could indeed be God's will that he dies by the sword. "Your kingdom come, your will be done (ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN) we have many responsibilities. Preaching the Word, spreading the news, destroying spiritual strongholds, clothing and feeding the poor, loving our neighbors, praying for our enemies and putting others before ourselves. I think the real issue here is that you are loving the enemy more than the innocent. You are assuming that the victim will automatically get into heaven. What about righteous judgement? This man is choosing his path, he is trying to take people down with him. A gunman in a theater is capable of killing MANY people, we could be losing a dozen unsaved innocent souls to his one- very corrupt -potentially not savable soul.

I think this is an excellent way to explain my point of view. I am not actively seeking violence but if it's the only way to diffuse as situation against me, my family or others I will use it. In defense to save someone's life.

No doubt and I agree......Just shows ignorance of historical facts......Like the Marines that swept the islands of WW2 and kept the Japanese who were murders and rapists from controlling the South Pacific....I bet the Chinese women who were being gang raped in Nanking would have loved to see the U.S. Marines had they not bled out while being tied to the chairs they were tied to when being raped repeatedly by the lines of Japanese soldiers who had lined up to take their turn....Ignorance is a virtue well know among those who are willfully ignorant!
