Well yes, we cannot be certain. But I saw this list, like a table of areas of Scotland rated on how strongly they supported the Scottish Nationalist Party (approx name from memory) in previous election. Those 2 areas reporting first (as rejecting secession) were extremely strong Scottish nationalist party areas. So I figure if the secession won't pass there, the cause is lost. I guess it is like polling Plains Georgia and finding that Jimmy Carter loses there.
Of course the 16 & 17 year olds didn't vote in the previous election.
But IMHO, "Turn out the lights, the party's over." Except that running this referendum may well fuel future discord, the us vs. them feeling.
