All i know is that Scotland is welding power via the vote. Sure they didn't get independence, but now they have major influence in it's own Future and the UK as a whole.
Fyi, I did make an explanation as to why we wanted our independance, you just need to look back on the earlier comments on this thread to find out!

OK let's turn this completely around. Why can't the English have a referendum to decide if WE want to in fact remain part of Scotland, Wales and NI??? Why are the Scots the only ones to get a choice? Does that seem right and fair.
I'm getting sick of the negativity too. Scotland get many privileges the English don't get yet they are always complaining they are "hard done by".

I predict that is the direction English MP's will head. They will likely demand their own home rule council based on the privileges Scotland's have.
Home rule councils invariably lead to independent countries. Yes Petals, you probably won't get a referendum, but who says you'll need one?

I'm sorry but the negativity on this thread is all being aimed at Scots who want what is supposed to be a good thing for them, all you're doing is turning it into a negative thing.. so the negativity is coming from you. I don't appreciate this constant thing where the English accuse Scottish of scrounging off of them.. we pay our taxes up here you know that? What do we work & pay our taxes for? Just for you to accuse us of not paying our fair share? After being badly represented by the media, the Yes vote were never gonna get a win with all the scaremongering. Which is why I'm all the more disappointed with the result. If both sides had been represented fairly & equally by the media then I wouldn't be so disappointed.
Actually it would have meant an infrastructure and investment boom, with many many new opportunities.

55% of Scotland voted to keep that their national anthem. Posting it triumphantly on an internet forum in response is hardly a crime against civility.

Did I at any time say you don't pay your taxes? Scotland pay taxes and SO DO THE ENGLISH.
It is true the Scots get perks (SUBSIDISED BY THE ENGLISH) that we don't - to name but a few:
University Tuition fees.
Free prescriptions.
Free hospital parking.
Cancer care denied to the rest of the UK
You get a referendum - did we?

I grew up singing "God Save the Queen" along with "O Canada" and the Lord's Prayer in a public school every morning. In fact, our legal system still acknowledges the Queen in traffic tickets, and all judgements and court decrees.

The Scots are not subsidized by the English, we subsidize 'each other' with 'everyone's' tax money, the Scots, English, Welsh, Irish, all pay our taxes towards the same British government, which means we subsidize each other, we are not exclusively subsidized by the English, you don't own us, we're all part of the uk. Why are you getting angry? How do you think this whole thread makes me feel as a Scottish person? I am hit with negative comment after negative comment, despite already feeling awful about not getting a win in the referendum.. it's all about yourselves venting your anger at ME? Why? What have I done? Apart from wanting Independance for MY country? Which frankly is no one else's business? How about showing some support for what was supposed to be a happy event in a Scottish person's life?
A 300 year-old nation remains on the map because 55% of voting Scots wanted it too.
Music to commemorate the occasion is perfectly fitting. Just as fitting as playing the bagpipes if they were to secede.
