And that verse where He led Captivity Captive, is an Expression from a Roman Victory Parade, in which the Conquering King or General would lead those who were holding their POWs or Hostages, as the new CAPTIVES to be Paraded before the people back home. Who were the Captivity who were led Captive? Death and Hades for sure, and perhaps symbolically the Demons and Satan.

i think a right understanding of this explains why Christ should not have been touched before He ascended to put His blood on the mercy seat.
interestingly the priest had to be baptized (in H[SUB]2[/SUB]O no less) and put on sacred garments before He could make the sacrifices and atonement, and afterwards was baptized again, and anyone who carried the scapegoat to the wilderness, or brought the burnt offering or the sacred garments the priest had worn outside the camp also had to be baptized before returning to the camp.

Jesus is our high priest.
all these things, He did for us, not after the type, but truly, in the true temple in heaven!!

it's ..."were baptised" Paul is showing what happened at baptism...when one rejects baptism they cannot see it that way.. and read it according to their understanding...

As to the "not yet ascended," that refers to His resurrected BODY. Touch Me not refers to His body. (I never heard of a spirit being touchable.)

or, like you say, the right translation is 'hold' or 'cling' and He meant only that she should not cling on to Him in the flesh.

it makes sense to me either way - and who knows? one day we'll ask Him
