This weekend I signed my daughter and myself up for "Symphony of 1,000," in which she will play cello and I will play french horn. This should be a fun event to do together. It's supposed to be the largest musical group in Sacramento history.
When I registered, the site let me purchase both participant tickets, but would only let me put in data for one of the shirts, which is kind of annoying. To top it off, there is no contact info for the event other than the company they used to sell the tickets. The youth symphony is sponsering the event, so I emailed someone there about the situation. I just got a response that he is passing the info on to the event manager, so all is good again.
Am hoping for no more glitches to sour the experience and for a fun time for my fellow musicians and the audience.

Having to tear apart my room and put it back together, no thanks to the cat.

I have a whole huge list of things in my past that I'm incredibly ashamed of. Well, it's actually less of a list and more of a junk drawer. I've gotten really good at throwing things in there and ignoring them. Today, thanks to a random and totally unexpected reminder of a dumb thing I did, I decided maybe I should clean out that junk drawer and throw some stuff out.

It feels better. I mean, I do.

My sister isn't speaking to me. Still. I don't think I can ever make that relationship "right". I've done everything I can think to do, I've apologized for everything I can think to apologize for. I hate to leave things like they are now with her, but...I'm tired of the roller coaster, you know? She wants to be mad, she wants to be hurt, she wants to keep rehashing the past...I can't live like that.

My best friend is in the middle of a divorce now, and I haven't spoken to her in two months. I keep calling her my best friend, but...in the last year, I think we've both learned differently. Another relationship I've clung to only to finally realize we'd hit a dead end.

There's a huge lilac bush in front of my house. When we moved in here, it looked a little sickly and sparse. Over the last few years, I've been taking care of it, cutting away the dead branches when I notice them, which meant basically removing most of the center of this thing. This year, it was beautiful; new branches grew up in the center and filled it out.

Here's hoping life works like that, that I can stop letting dead branches keep my life from being as full as it could be.

Why do I feel so mean saying that?

How did the junk drawer turn into shrubbery? That's amazing.

Oh look, more rain...

I'm making a no-bake chocolate pumpkin pie, and I burned the chocolate chips. Ooops.

I thought no one was ever in there this early?

People go in there at this time of day? That's cool... I'm usually asleep about an hour to an hour and a half from now.

It's no-bake, woman! How didja manage to burn ANYTHING in the pie?
LOL, well, it just means you don't put it in the oven :p Like how you make no-bake cookies on the stove top. Buut yeah. I was like "I burned a no-bake recipe... ONLY ME!" But usually what I make tastes good. So I'm not too worried. I melted some more choc chips successfully the second time around. :D

Well, I have learned my lesson. You really can't please everyone. It took my fiance and I far, far, far too long to settle on a wedding date because we made the mistake of trying to work it around the schedule of a particular (extended) family member who will be overseas for six weeks. Turns out that once you start trying to cater to one person, everyone starts getting picky.

In the end, the first date that I originally wanted was the one we settled on. My aunt is going to pitch a fit when she finds out...

But I don't care. I'm getting married, y'all!

Today at work was a long exercise in mass stupidity. I didn't get a break today because someone messed up the schedule. I had to stay an hour extra because someone messed up the schedule. Then I had to stay an extra half hour after that because there was another hole in the schedule where they had one person leaving a position and the next person not coming in to cover that post for half an hour. And we had an unusually large order to fill at 3:30pm and they forgot to schedule anyone to cover that, so someone who should have been doing her own job had to leave it and help on the line.

I finally left work convinced that some people should not be put in a position where they have to make decisions that affect other people. In other words, SOME PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE MANAGERS!

Don't feel bad.... I've had to do the same thing with some people that is the state board of our organization. Believe me, you haven't seen it bad yet. It's much worse when they try to be christian leaders.
