it just means you got wet and nothing else.
Kerry Good to meet you....
I reply..
Right you are..... All who lack faith get wet nothing more!

God cannot lie!!!
John 3:3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.

Right after Jesus said this (above) he goes off and BAPTIZES with "WATER"; No enters the kingdom unless they are baptized!

Kerry Just a few verses on we read...
John 3:22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.23 Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized.

Kerry if you believe Baptism does NOT save then you have trusted people other then the scriptures!
You have placed your faith in the TEACHINGS of people not in scriptures!

Acts 22:16
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and
wash your sins away, calling on his name.’

Baptism washes away sins, just as the God tells you it does!

PACEMAKER Good to meet you...You ask: where is the WORD "Baptism"?!!
Acts 2:21 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.
where is the word Baptism???

Acts 2:47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. where is the word Baptism???

I reply, Right here... ACTS 2:40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Clearly 3000 were SAVED by Baptism!
3000 were "ADDED to the body of Jesus" by BAPTISM!
Clearly 3000 were made God' Children by Baptism!
PACEMAKER God' Children are saved, baptism ADDS Christians to Jesus' body!!

LOOK.. The crowd asked Peter what they should do after Peter told them they killed God' son.. He told them..
ACTS 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 47 tells us, there were DAILY baptism's because we both know from the verse (above) 41 Baptism adds people to their number!

Jesus himself tells you "WATER SAVES"!
John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water
and the Spirit.

The word "
AND" (above are the words of God) tells you WATER saves!
PACEMAKER Right after Jesus said "you must be REBORN of WATER" he goes out and BAPTIZES with WATER!!!!
John 3:22
After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.
23 Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized.

PACEMAKER Question:
From the verses above; Why were Jesus and John BAPTIZING
at Aenon near Salim??
Please reply!!
Dogknox, Just how much POWER would your "water baptism"
have without Jesus Christ First dieing on the old rugged Cross
About two thousand years ago for old Sinners like us ??

Here is what I Believe

True religion is neither rules-based nor ritual-based.

True religion is a personal relationship with God
through Jesus Christ Alone..

Two things that all religions hold are that humanity is somehow separated
from God and needs to be reconciled to Him.

False religion seeks to solve this problem by
observing rules and rituals.

True religion solves the problem by recognizing that
only God could rectify the separation,
and that He has done so.

True religion recognizes the following:

1. We have all sinned and are therefore separated

from God (Romans 3:23).

2. If not rectified, the just penalty for sin is death and eternal separation from God after death (Romans 6:23).

3. God came to us in the Person of Jesus Christ and died in our place, taking the punishment that we deserve, and rose from the dead to demonstrate that His death was a sufficient sacrifice (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

4. If we receive Jesus as the Savior, trusting His death as the full payment for our sins, we are forgiven, saved, redeemed, reconciled, and justified with God

(John 3:16; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9).

True religion does have rules and rituals,

but there is a crucial difference.

In true religion, the rules and rituals are observed out of Gratitude for the salvation God has provided –

NOT in an effort to obtain that salvation.

True religion, which is Biblical Christianity, has rules to obey (do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not lie, etc.)
And rituals to observe (water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper / Communion).
Observance of these rules and rituals is not what makes a person right with God. Rather, these rules and rituals are the RESULT of the relationship with God, by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone as the Savior.
False religion is doing things (rules and rituals) in order to try to earn God’s favor.
True religion is receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and thereby having a right relationship with God –
and then doing things (rules and rituals)
out of love for God and desire to grow closer to Him.

Dogknox, you said
"Clearly 3000 were SAVED
by Baptism!
3000 were "ADDED to the body of Jesus" by BAPTISM!
Clearly 3000 were made God' Children by Baptism!
'

I gave you 4 scriptures that Plainly said
that people were saved With Out "water baptism"

Why did Paul say that he came NOT to "water baptize " in this verse
[h=1] 1 Corinthians 1:17-18New International Version (NIV)
[/h] [SUP]17 [/SUP]For Christ did not send me to baptize,
but to preach the gospel—
not with wisdom and eloquence,
lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

You are making “The Cross” loose it's meaning and Power
by Adding “water Baptism” for washing away sins

[h=3]Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom[/h][SUP]18 [/SUP]For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved
it is the power of God.

Now , what is thee POWER of GOD???

I will answer it for you "THE CROSS?

Now this is very plan that we are NOT Required
to be Water baptized" for our Salvation

There is No Power in the Water

Here is where the POWER IS in Scripture

When Jesus died on the cross,
He took upon Himself all the sin of the world

2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

1 John 2:2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

By taking the punishment for our sin, He cancelled the debt that each of us owes God
Colossians 2:14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us;

He has taken it away, ( sin)
nailing it to the cross.

Where?? the Cross

So , Jesus Christ Died on the Cross for ALL of our Sins RIGHT??

Then just What Sins does "water baptism" wash away??

He also reversed the curse of our old natures, which keeps us enslaved to sinful passions and desires
Galatians 3:10, For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law. And 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a cross

Before a person meets Christ, he or she is enslaved by that sin nature
Romans 7:25; Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

How are we Delivered??
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
2 Peter 2:19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”

At the moment of conversion, we are given a new nature that has been freed from sin
Romans 6:18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
Romans 8:2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

The entire chapter of Romans 6 explains this in detail. Verse 14 says, "For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under GRACE"

Dogknox

What is your Definition of “Grace” ???

it is absurd to think that peter would be used by the Holy Ghost, God or Jesus all three are One numerically One, to preach such a wonderful and profound message and not practice what he preaches.

Water baptism is a direct command to those who heard peter preach and asked men and brethren what shall we do? If all water baptism did was get you wet then why is it mentioned as necessary for remitting sin.

Just trying to show why baptism is so important in the plan of salvation.

Two things....
One. Baptism washes away sins!!! You must reject the words of God as a LIE to say different!
Acts 22:16
And now what are you waiting for? Get up,
be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’

Two.. Blood CANNOT save you!!!! You refuse to drink it!!!
Kerry You must DRINK the blood to be saved by the blood..The early Church >>DRANK The Blood!
1 Corinthians 11:25
In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood;do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.

Do you see verse 29 (above)? You can't sin against a SYMBOL!
You condemn yourself by rejecting the cup as only a symbol!

I think it would be a silly thing for anyone to place their faith in water as if it had power to save. Our faith is placed in Christ alone and identifying ourselves with His death, burial and resurrection. Once you read in Scripture that baptism ought to be done and you do it not to you it is sin. Its direct disobedience to the Word of God.

the scripture says Paul was baptised brother....unless you think Saul is not Paul...or he disobed Ananias...and I am careul to note Ananias said... be baptized, and wash away thy sins..... calling on the name of the Lord....that is proof something happens at baptism ...aside from getting wet...
Acts 22:12-16King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

It say's that he was baptized but does not mention water. He has baptized in the Spirit.

John 3:31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.33 Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful.34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God[i] gives the Spirit without limit.35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

Kerry this is no false doctrine; it is the essence of actually trusting the Lord with your salvation
Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.

So what is it for you?
Once dunked, always dunked?

It has nothing to do with dunking as Peter , James , John, Thomas, or any others did.

Can you deny that such a doctrine is all wet?
It has nothing to do with dunking as Peter , James , John, Thomas, or any others did. the doctrine points to your own works and not Gods work.

So then, when did they come up with the word, Babtize & Babtist?

Kerry, can't you do any better than Strong's? Can't you get yourself at least a Vine's?
It comes from 1611 when the interpreters came across a word that there was no English word to describe it. If you look at the strong s it means to be immersed and is physically and figuratively. To say that I have nothing but the strongs means to me that you need to get baptised again cause the first one didn't take. Isn't that the doctrine.

My Friend you don't understand what your reading. This has nothing to do with water baptism. Jesus is stating that you must be born again by the Spirit which frees you from the sin nature. Look the law could not set them free from sin, David a man after Gods own heart committed adultery and murder. Yet God blessed Him why? Because of his faith in the cross.

To be born again means that you are washed in the blood of the cross, not what you do. Nowhere in the bible did God accept a work of the flesh and today He will not accept your work. He will only accept the work that you allow Him to do through you.

It is not by might nor by power but by My Spirit saith the Lord.

It's hard to give an accurate teaching on baptism with just a few scriptures you have to look at a scriptures as a whole and that take more time than we would have here.
Mark 16 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

You have the conjuction AND which joins believing and baptism together. Just because baptism is not mentioned in the latter half of the scripture doesn't mean its not implied besides obviously if you don't believe your not going to be baptized anyway.

Acts 2

40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Shows another example of being baptized and if baptism isn't necessary why would you just want to get wet you can do that at home taking a bath. Even Christ himself commanded the disciples to baptize.

Where is the water?
